Chapter 31: The Master of Fis.h.i.+ng is also the Master of Insects.

Character Cheat Sheet: For everybody "including me". To help remember all these names and characters.

Minazuki Amane(水無月周 aka あまね) Our protagonist. Ordinary black hair, cut shoulder length. Normal skin, not particularly fair with ordinary eyes. Slightly taller than Alice. And her breast are abit bigger.

Minazuki Alice(ありす) Golden s.h.i.+ny hair, blue eyes. Fair soft skin. She is pretty much really beautiful. one of the two beauties in school.

Takanas.h.i.+ Rinka(高梨凛花)Aka Rin-chan. Black hair styled in twin tails. Eyes more slanted. Gives impression of strong woman. Is a diligent student who is kind with good looks. Very good athletically.

Kiniwa Ena(砂庭江奈) Aka Enchan. Shoulder length chestnut colored hair.Gives off the impression of a gentle kind girl. Poor with physical activities and got big b.o.o.bies.

Yanomiya Sora(夜乃宮蒼穹) Aka Kuu-chan. Looks like a elementary student at first glance but she is a high school senior. Her long black hair goes down to her waist. She has large cute eyes and a really cute appearance in general. Is manly and reliable. Making her perhaps Amane's favorite.

Yurizono Arisu-san(百合園 アリス) She has long silver hair which s.h.i.+nes brightly in the sunlight. With mysterious red eyes and a clear beautiful voice. Other one of the two beauties in school.百合園 also has the kanji for Yuri as in the lesbian kind in it. Also has pretty decent size breast.

Yurizono Iris (百合園イリス) She has long silver hair that s.h.i.+nes. Pure red eyes. She is a gorgeous college student. She is Arisu's older sister. She is taller and has a bigger bust than Arisu.

Also Even though Arisu and Iris have to same last name. Amane usually refers to Arisu as Yurizono. And Iris as just Iris.

It's alice using the super cutesy way of her referring to herself with her own name. I don't always translate it, but I'll do it some times, so keep that in mind. Also I don't always translate the "-sans" but Amane usually uses them.

A vast idyllic countryside was in full view from the car window. The rice fields covered much of the plains with the blue sky over it.

In the distant where beautiful mountains with some of them having snow on the top.

It's been about two hours since Iris-san started driving.

My father travels a lot for his job, but this time he was transferred to the countryside.

"It's so beautiful. I bet there are lots of bugs there."

Yanomiya who was sitting beside me muttered that in amazement as she looked out the window.

"That Sansai Soba we had at that drive in was delicious."

"It was really good."

In very similar seating spots when we went to the beach, Kiniwa and Takanas.h.i.+ are talking behind me. A little awhile we stopped to get something to eat at a drive in. So they are talking about how good that meal was.

"It was delicious."

"Yeah, it was really good."

Yanomiya and Alice joined the conversation that was brought up from behind.

I also ate it, and it was really good.

Cold Sansai soba is great in the summer.

There is a bit of sweetness in the soup. Along with Sansai in it makes it even better. The soba we had was probably the best sansai soba I ever had. The texture, the taste. It was so perfect. I unintentionally had a second helping.

However it definitely had a different effect on me then when I was a guy. Back then I could eat way more and not get full, but I was barely able to eat half of my second serving.

I was never conscious about my limits, but my stomach may have gotten smaller since I became a girl.

"I didn't want to get out of the car. . ."

Separate from the conversation in the backseat, Yurizono complained from the pa.s.senger seat.

When we arrived at the drive-in Yurizono didn't want to leave the car and suffer from the sweltering heat.

She was too exhausted from the heat to even leave the car.

Because of the selfish the fl.u.s.tered Iris-san had to find a way to coax her sister out of the car. That's where the ice cold soba came in.

Yurizono ended up having a second helping as well. It made Iris-san happy that her sister was happy.

"Arisu-chan, was your soba good?"

Her sister asked Yurizono.

"Amane-san's cooking is more delicious."

She answered her sister.

You had a second helping. . .

I pretty sure she fairly enjoyed her meal, but if she is praising my cooking I won't complain and just take the compliment.

About three hours have pa.s.sed since we went to the drive in.

We entered in to a particularly rural fas.h.i.+on parking lot, to find a big sign saying "fis.h.i.+ng gear".

It seems that the previous female me and Alice have never went to visit our father. Our father just moved into a business apartment, and it might be too difficult to find him.

It would have been difficult to pick which apartment was his when there are so many similar ones in a complex, along with it being even further away by the train station.

So because we were going to talk about fis.h.i.+ng I was told it would be better to just have a meeting at the fis.h.i.+ng store.

Because we are there, if we have any questions we can ask the shop clerk, along with my father showing me the tools and equipment.

It was a huge building with a large parking lot. Surrounding it was rice fields.

The GPS on the car then announced we arrived at our destination. So that was confirmation we needed. We are finally here.

"Uwaa, so vast!"

Yanomiya jumped out of the car once we parked. She looked at the building and exclaimed that with s.h.i.+ning eyes.

There are plenty of large stores in our area, and even the shopping mall we visited last time was much larger.

But the reason she was so surprised was that there was nothing around it. And because we are in this large parking lot, it feels even more expansive.

From a store's point of view, wouldn't it be unnerving to see such a barren surrounding?

"The air is so fresh."

"Are you starting to enjoy nature even before we go camping?"

The next to leave was Kiniwa and Takanas.h.i.+. They left while having that conversation. And then.

"Don't turn the car off. I don't want to get out. I'll just wait here."

The selfish sister has currently activated spoiled child mode.

Iris was troubled because of this sudden development.

"The store will be cool, so get out."

After stepping out of the car, Alice dragged the spoiled child out of the pa.s.senger seat.

Iris-san was aware of the troubles her sister was causing, but simply let Alice deal with her stubborn sister.

Then I noticed a middle-aged man standing next to the entrance of the store.

He wore a fis.h.i.+ng hat that had an angler attached to it. He wore fis.h.i.+ng sungla.s.ses while also wearing a fis.h.i.+ng vest. He was standing with his arms crossed looking at me.

After a few seconds he took a smartphone out from his breast pocket on the vest and acted like he didn't see us as he put his phone to his ear.

Maybe he is getting in touch with my mom.

We were suppose to come by a taxi from the train station, but we came out a large luxury car with a beautiful girl squad. He seemed really confused.

After a little while my father hung up. He made eye contact with me and called me over.

"My father is over there, but can you guys wait a moment? He seems really confused about a sudden influx of cute girls."

I explained that to Iris-san.

"Fufu, everybody is cute."

Then as usual, Kiniwa interjected and said that.

Also there is the G.o.ddess Iris-san, who usually in these situations can keep her cool.

I rushed over to my father.

He was obviously nervous. He removed his sungla.s.ses once I got close and said.

"Amane? What is this? Why didn't you say anything?"

He said that in a panicked voice, whether it was panic or more so embarra.s.sment, I couldn't tell.

"It's because we are going to go fis.h.i.+ng with my friends when we go camping. So they wanted to tag along to see the fis.h.i.+ng supplies."

"F-friends? Ahh, so they are your friends. I thought you joined an idol group Amane. Your father was very surprised. Well I'm still surprised."

He seems just a little relieved when he heard the truth.

You say idol group, but I don't think I could join that. I'm too plain for that.

"I-I see. They are friends. . .kuu."

My father looked relieved but suddenly after muttering that he busted out crying.

"W-When, I first heard that Amane and Alice were going to visit me, Your father was so happy. I never would have imagined you guys to bring your friends, but I don't want to be hated by my daughters. . .Your father will try his hardest until he reaches retirement.."

(まさか友達まで連れて来てくれるなんて。娘に嫌われるのが父親ってものだと思ってたのに、父さん……定年まで死ぬ気で頑張ろうと思います)(TN: this one was really hard for me. It was either this or perhaps something like he didn't expect them to visit him until retirement(less sure about that one.) Or he never thought his daughters would want to visit him(a bit more likely.)

He spoke while shaking.

You are exaggerating. . .but I don't know if I can deny it fervently.

I visited often when I was a son, but I never seen this much joy, perhaps it must be a great pleasure for a father to see his daughters.

I waited until my father calmed down a bit then called everybody over.

"I-It's a pleasure to meet you all, I am Amane and Alice's father. As you can see, unlike Alice who is outstanding, I am just ordinary. So I apologize if I disappointed you imagination."

He said that towards everybody and bowed his head.

"Somehow, I feel like there is a similar to Amane aura being admitted."

Yanomiya said that and everybody else nodded in agreement.

Ahaha. I was often told I was similar to my father. I guess that doesn't change even if I become a woman.

"Father lets exchanged greetings once we enter the store."

"T-That's right. Okay, let's go."

I told my father that and he nodded in agreement. He gave them a small head bow and then we entered the store.

There is one person who can not handle this heat for long. And if we don't enter the store she is going to head back to the car.

"See! Let's go into the store. Walk faster."

"Uuu. This sis-con is so pushy. . ."

Alice is dragging Yurizono along while she is complaining. Seeing that everybody, including Iris-san laughed.

Ever since we met Iris-san, I felt like Alice changed.

Of course for the better.

We entered the store with everybody as I thought about her change.

My father showed me and handed me some equipment. He recommended these.

All of them were relatively cheap.

"Those more expensive tools have better performance, but at the same time, they are harder to handle. Just because it's cheap doesn't mean you can't fish with it."

My father explained to me.

Everybody was focusing on what my father was saying, but he was only looking at me.

There are so many beautiful girls around us, so it may be unnerving to see them everywhere. So he is just looking at the ordinary me.

I can understand that feeling father.

"The key to fis.h.i.+ng is depth. It's important to know which depth the fish swim in. So it's vital to know which the targeted fish you want is there. In other words, watch the bobber to know where it is."(TN: I've never gone fis.h.i.+ng besides when I was a kid, so hopefully I translated it right. Because I have no idea what he is talking about.)

Then he handed me a notebook.

"That notebook contains references to mountain fish, so use that for support. But don't overthink it, what's important is to have fun."

Everybody smiled to his words and then gave him an applause.

My father ears went red as he bowed his head, still he only looked at me.

"Mister."

Yanomiya raised a voice.

For the first time my father looked at somebody besides me, he gave a relieved expression.

Yanomiya is a pretty girl, but her figure is childish. Although a bit rude, it was a sight of relief.

"Do you like insects mister?"

She asked my father, and then my father's eyes s.h.i.+ned.

My father is not only a fis.h.i.+ng master, but he is also an insect collector.

"Oji-san found a giant stag beetle once, but it was only once."

"OOOOOOOOOOH! That's a legend! Amazing!"

Yanomiya eye s.h.i.+ned and raised a voice in response to my father's boasting.

"Are you guys planning on collect insects while camping?"

"Yup!"

"I don't know if you could find it for sure, but if there is a willow tree make sure to look at it for one. There may be many giant stag beetles there."

"Ooooooh! A willow tree!  We'll search there for sure!"

Yanomiya gave a determined face and nodded many times.

A giant stag beetle? I have never seen one in nature. I think that it will be fun to go looking for one.

After that we bought the cheap fis.h.i.+ng supplies that my father recommended.

Iris wanted to buy a bunch of expensive fis.h.i.+ng gear for everybody. She said it was necessary for our camping trip.

I'm grateful for her being so thoughtful, but I felt like that wasn't necessary. So I persuaded her we didn't need it.

The fis.h.i.+ng equipment recommended by my father is something cheap that us high school students were able to buy it with our allowances. Plus all of us seemed to have gotten a little extra pocket money from our parents when we left for here.

I was able to successful persuade her with that explanation.

We received the notebook from my father and finished up by buying our fis.h.i.+ng equipment. Then immediately decided to head home.

Because it took three hours to return home, we couldn't stay too long. We don't want it to get too late.

"Sorry about the trouble for you having to come so far. Moreover then to need to return that long way. Thank you for that, and please drive my daughters home safely."

My father who seemed quite nervous, said that and bowed deeply to Iris-san.

"Y-Y-You can leave it to me!"

Iris-san, who was obviously feeling the tension, stiffly shouted that.

"Well then. Good bye dad."

"Ah. Thank you for coming. Amane is still the child your mother and I am proud of. No, actually. I felt like you changed for the better recently."

I exchanged good byes with my father and then he said something embarra.s.sing.

Alice happily smiled when she heard those words.

She was extremely proud that I was praised by my father. Yeah, she is a real sis-con.

Everybody said goodbye to my father and then got into the car. We left the parking lot, and watched my dad wave at us until we could see him no more.

He seemed really happy.

Was this actually the first time we came to visit?

When I was a boy I wasn't allowed to play with my friends. So I spent more time going to see my father. I spent a lot of time with him, but now it seems like all that time never happened.

I felt a bit lonely knowing that.

TN here. I thought this chapter would take longer for me, but apparently not. I actually learned a lot more about fis.h.i.+ng from this chapter, googling fis.h.i.+ng stuff to make sure you translated it right will do that to you. It was a nice chapter, but ended on a kinda of a sad note. Was.h.i.+ng away your father son experience would do that.

Umm next chapter in like 2-4 days.
