“Extra movie tickets?”
“Yeah, that’s why I’m giving ‘em to you. There’s two there.”
Sitting in his seat with somewhat of a grouchy att.i.tude, Jun sticks the tickets into Tooru’s face.
“What’s up with you being so nice? You’re not gonna go watch it with a lady friend?”
“I’ve got work that day, so I can’t. You said you’re free, right? Go out and have some fun… with Satsuki, I mean!”
“Wha— I can go with whoever I want, right?!”
“Okay, then go see this romance flick with another dude then. Just leave me out of it.”
Well, he’s got a point.
It’s more than a little weird imagining going with a guy. Tooru likes the girls after all.
“Alright. Thanks. I didn’t say I was planning to go with Satsuki though.”
“Heh heh, I didn’t know you had that many girlfriends.”
“I told you, we’re not…”
“So, whatcha guys talking about?”
That was Nis.h.i.+no Akane who forced her way into our conversation.
She hears every rumor going on and bills herself as the best-informed person in our cla.s.s.
“Nothing to do with you. Now shoo.”
Jun knows well enough that there’s nothing good to come out of getting involved with Akane and he waves her away.
A while ago, Jun asked this girl from the next cla.s.s and got savagely rejected. Within an instant, it was the talk of their grade. He has a reason to be turned off by her.
“You’re so mean! Am I being a bother by collecting info?”
“Yes! You’re real annoying! I can’t foresee anything good happening from talking to you.”
“I won’t say anything! I’ll tell not a single soul! So, please!”
Her crocodile tears only further p.i.s.ses Jun off.
She takes a liking to Jun and often pesters him for info.
Who knows what that means. Though, it’s nice seeing how close they are.
“Tooru, don’t just sit there. Help me get her away!”
“She’s fine by me. Besides, she likes you.”
“You’d best your back from now on.”
Tooru knows that Jun’s tight-lipped and won’t say anything about Satsuki. That’s why they’re friends.
Now then, what should I do with these tickets?
For some reason, the only thought to come to mind is Satsuki’s face.
“A movie?”
“Yeah. It’s Sunday the day after tomorrow and plus, I don’t have work. What do you say?”
Satsuki stopped tidying up for a moment to look at the tickets.
They’re for this film called “Men Over Flours”. It was big on the internet and now it’s a movie.
All the girls are talking about it. Even Tooru knows a little bit about the premise.
Satsuki’s eyes start gleaming as she looks at the ticket.
She’s way more into it than expected.
“The two of us?”
“Yeah, only if you’re okay with it… if not, I’ll give you the tickets and you can go wa—”
“Yes, I totally am okay! I’ve been super excited about this movie!”
Getting the chance to go to the movies, Satsuki gets up close to Tooru with an expression of pure joy on her face.
Seeing this new side of her put a grin on Tooru’s face too.
“You’re laughing at me…”
Tooru shakes his head at the slightly anxious girl.
“What? No, it’s not that. Thinking about going to see a movie with you made me real happy is all.”
“Oh.”
Satsuki’s face instantly turns bright red. Realizing what he just said, Tooru blushed too.
After a moment or two of silence, Satsuki opens her mouth to speak.
“Umm… I’m glad that you’re fine with me.”
Augh, she’s so adorable. Combining those upturned eyes with a slight nervous fidget is the embodiment of cuteness.
Tooru didn’t get rejected. What a relief.
If he did, he was planning on giving the tickets to Takato. But seeing how happy she is, Tooru knew he made the right choice.
Now then, gotta get serious for Sunday. Can’t look like an absolute embarra.s.sment standing beside Satsuki.
Tooru returns to the living room and begins studying again as he ponders on what to wear on Sunday.
