Poison of the Human Panacea

Chapter 9

It was night.

Star reading altar.

The skies were filled with stars and fires shone brightly in the courtyard. A man in blue, with his sleeves fluttering, was holding a luopan[1] and was looking at the snowcapped mountain peak as he waited for an arrival. Suddenly, there was a soft sound of feathered wings flapping and a ghostly figure appeared behind him. When the man turned his head, the figure was already nowhere to be seen.

Thinking that Bai Tan was trying to instill fear in him by using the "Mei Dun Zhou[2]", Ji Du could only smile helplessly, "Sect Leader, please do not use this subordinate to seek entertainment. This subordinate is sincerely trying to relieve your worries."

"Don't talk about useless things, spar with me* first."

Before the sentence was finished, a gust of strong wind blew in his direction. Ji Du turned around but s.h.i.+yue was already right in front of him. He would not have been able to draw the whip around his waist out in time so he raised his arms up. The golden rings around his wrist were spinning rapidly and continuously, just managing to block the ferocious attack. However, his cloud-patterned, blue robe made of silk was burned by the scorching heat of the wind, and he inevitably felt pained and pity. He retreated tens of steps in succession and begged loudly for mercy, "I will not fight anymore, Sect Leader. Ji Du concedes his lost!"

"Hmph, so boring." Bai Tan stopped but was still not satisfied and wanted to continue. He had just improved and was itching to test it out but who knew that no one in the sect was willing to fight him till the end. It was disappointing.

Ji Du tugged on his burned and tattered robe, not knowing whether to laugh or to cry. The little Sect Leader's appearance matched his personality. He was still quite a child. After all, he was raised as though he was a pet……once there was no one to restrain him, he would go wild.

Had s.h.i.+zun still lived, who knows if he would have still been this arrogant.

Bai Tan walked leisurely to the container of water between the fires and looked at the reflection of the night sky in the container before reaching over to run his hand through the water, creating ripples. "So, what have you been able to see?"

"Sect Leader, do not be anxious. Please hold on to this."

Ji Du pa.s.sed the luopan over respectfully with one hand and with the other hand, he held Bai Tan's other hand to press it into the water. Instantly, large ripples surged in the water and the bronzed fish on the luopan started rotating by itself, pointing to a star that was reflected on the water surface. Bai Tan looked over fixedly but saw that the star was flickering, bright and dim. It was also of an abnormal scarlet color.

"This is so strange. It is such a bizarre[3] star omen." Ji Du looked troubled as if he had something he wanted to say but stopped before he actually did.

Bai Tan's expression changed a little, but he controlled his temper, "Bizarre?"

Ji Du nodded. "The 'Concubine Ming' suitable for the pract.i.tioner must have their star trail intersecting that of the pract.i.tioner. However, the star that intersects the Sect Leader's is a star of the underworld."

Ji Du pointed at a faint blue star on the water surface as he spoke.

Confused, Bai Tan asked, "What do you mean?"

"The person whose life intersects with yours is already dead." Ji Du's words were laid with implications.

"Do you perhaps mean……Wu Yanfu?" Bai Tan asked, word by word, in return.

Wu Yanfu was the old rotting wound in his heart. It was not to be touched easily.

"That is right."

Bai Tan's expression turned into one of extreme displeasure, and he squeezed a few words out from between his teeth, "So for me* to succeed in attaining the next level, could it be that there is a need to rape that old devil's corpse?"

Even though he wants to get revenge, an eye for an eye, but even he was not capable of such a deed.

Ji Du was shocked by his 'straightforwardness without avoidance'.

The "Mara", Wu Yanfu's outstanding looks, which were known to be incomparable, was such that despite also having the fearsome t.i.tle of the strongest fighter in the western region, he still had many admirers who would flock to him like ducks. Even the princess of Lou Lan who could not forget him after meeting him once, sent a person to the Tan Cheng[4] to invite him to a banquet. Yet, when it came to Bai Tan, he became an "old devil".

"Sect Leader naturally need not do that. Has the Sect Leader heard of spiritual intercourse and Concubine Ying? If the 'Concubine Ming' is dead and physical intercourse was no longer possible, this method can be used to achieve the same result. Should the Sect Leader not believe, do check what it says in the "Di Chang s.h.i.+ Lun Jing". s.h.i.+zun's body is buried within the Formless Realm. As long as the soul still exists, Sect Leader could find a way to take a part of his soul to make it into a Concubine Ying by binding it to a weapon[5] and using it during cultivation."

"Oh?" Bai Tan furrowed his brows, not fully believing. Asking him to face Wu Yanfu's soul was something he was highly unwilling and did not dare to do. Wu Yanfu was his demonic obstacle[6] and was supposed to be the greatest obstacle during the cultivation of the Sky of Six Desires. Yet, according to Ji Du, it was the exact opposite. He was supposed to let his demonic obstacle aid him in the cultivation of the skill?

It was unthinkable.

However, to bind Wu Yanfu's soul to a weapon was a very interesting idea.

Ha, he had played and manipulated him for so many years, it was now his turn.

Ji Du was good at noticing other's speech and mood, making him very accurate at guessing other's thoughts and he could tell what Bai Tan's consideration was. He moved closer and whispered softly, "If the Sect Leader does not dare to, Ji Du is willing to carry it out in the Sect Leader's stead."

"Why should I* trust you?" Bai Tan raised the outer corner of his eyes, turned his head to the side, and pushed the golden earring on Ji Du's earlobe with a hand. A pair of thin red lips were right in front of him, coming together and parting. It was bewitching and for a moment, it made Ji Du, the Casanova who had seen tens of thousands of various beauties but was never really taken by any, stunned.

He was shocked when the nightmare snake, which was coiled around his arm, was unexpectedly and suddenly grasped by the other.

"Come to think of it, had you not left his guidance, I would need to call you da s.h.i.+xiong[7]. Wu Yanfu is dead and it is fine that you did not mourn nor did you resent, but why would you think of ways to help me make him unable to rest in peace?"

Ji Du collected his thoughts with a dry throat. "Does this subordinate look like a person who puts his emotions and loyalty first?"

Bai Tan laughed along, his pair of phoenix eyes were cold and charming, "Heartless, cruel, and vicious[8]."

Even though it was reproaching, it seemed like he was mocking himself too.

Ji Du did not look like he was ashamed by it. He knelt on the ground and wrapped one hand with the other, "Then that is what it is; your subordinate has his own request."

"You are honest. Unlike those who are disingenuous, claiming to be loyal to me while not meaning it." Bai Tan snorted coldly and sat down on the stone railing, "Tell me, what is it that you wish for?"

Ji Du calmly and slowly took out an item from the pocket of his clothes.

With just a single look, Bai Tan was instantly shocked and a complicated feeling that was hard to describe swelled in his heart.

It was an ax[9]. Its body was white and looked like it was made of bones. The head of a person with an eagle's beak was carved on the end of the handle. Cow horns grew from the top of the head, a dragon's head was held in the mouth, and a pair of blue gems was embedded where the eyes were. The blade was shaped like the golden wings of a bird, outspread and about to fly. A row of small Sanskrit words were carved into the edge of the blade.

Bai Tan glanced at the s.h.i.+yue that was around his waist. The hook and the ax – they were a pair.

He recognized this thing. He even had an unbreakable fate with it.

This ax was depicted in the treasure map as a weapon held by the statue of Lakshmi, the wife of Vishnu, which stood in front of the doors to the Heavenly Hall. Not only was it a matching pair to the hook Vishnu held, it was also one of the keys used to open the door of the Heavenly Hall. The year when the avalanche happened, they were brought out by the craftsman who managed to escape, along with two other weapons.

A group of mountain bandits had unexpectedly found out about it. After he was forced to draw the treasure map, the craftsman was killed and the ax and hook were stolen. The hook fell into the possession of a former elder of the Fu Tu Sect. The ax, however, was lost in the fight for it. After that, the treasure map was obtained by the King of Xi Ye, his father. His father had then pa.s.sed the treasure map to the Grand Advisor, Wu Yanfu, ordering him to find the Heavenly Hall in the map. Wu Yanfu started investigating under the order and found out that the ax was hidden in a demonic sect from Xi Jiang. It was in the hands of the Yue Yin Palace Gong Zhu[10] and was named "Pori[11]".

His father must not have known how his son was treated after he was taken in by the kind Grand advisor as a discipleꟷꟷ

In order to obtain Pori, Wu Yanfu sent him as a beautiful dancer to the Gong Zhu of Ying Yue Palace to congratulate his fiftieth birthday. It was also then that the Arts of Enchantment that he had learned for many years was finally put to use.

Remembering what had happened back then only made him feel that it was unbearable to recall.

He was dancing on the altar while being almost fully naked and was nearly shamed in public when he entered the embrace of the demonic person who did not look like a male or a female. He held a flower between his teeth and blew the pollen into the other's ears and eyes.

So afraid was he that he cried, so panicked that he trembled.

When he first started turning his head around, that person was only looking from afar, shaking the fan in his hand leisurely, a smile gracing his lips, all as he sat elegantly and lazily. Holding conversations with others and it was as though he was but an act.

After the poison has taken its effect on Yue Yin Palace's Gong Zhu, and he was being restrained by everyone, Wu Yanfu did not spare him a single glance.

From that day on, he understood. To him, he was only a boy toy less than a human.

Thrown in the dark water dungeon where the sunlight did not reach, his scapula was pierced and he was tortured in numerous ways. He became blind from all the crying and he even became mute because he was poisoned, but all he could think of was that his s.h.i.+zun would not abandon him just like that. That s.h.i.+zun would still come and save him. He expected, hoped and prayed, making clay dolls from the mud, day after day, placing all his hopes on the tiny little sorcery, desperately hoping that Wu Yanfu would be able to hear his shouts of despair.

He had waited for a very, very long time and yet, Wu Yanfu still did not turn up. Instead, an a.s.sa.s.sin from Yue Yin Palace pitied him and betrayed Yue Yin Palace for him, protecting him as he escaped. That person, however, died in Wu Yanfu's hands.

He will never be able to forget that day for the rest of his life.

The words Wu Yanfu said before he had lost his consciousness, as he was brought out from the arms that were losing its warmth and was carried away.

"Tan'er, how could you not listen to your teacher's words and follow another person so easily?"

The tone was so gentle, but it was extremely cruel, extremely cold-blooded.

In his eyes, all lives, no matter whose, were just ants and not worth a mention.

Another person was the one who treated him sincerely in ten years.

Yet, he did not even get the chance to see that person's appearance.

How was he supposed to not hate?

……

"Sect Leader?" Ji Du saw that he was uneasy and called softly.

It was as though Bai Tan had just woken up from a dream. He placed his hand on the corner of his forehead and discovered that it was actually covered in sweat.

His eyelashes were lowered and his pupils were dark as he turned and gazed at the ax's handle in great detail.

Under the moonlight, the blood-colored inscriptions of Sanskrit on the ax's body appeared very faintly – it was almost as though it was not there. With every movement of his wrist, it changed, gathering and dispersing, almost illusionary. A pitch-black shadow would also be left behind where the ax pa.s.sed as though it could slice open a void. It was fierce and domineering – a very rare weapon. It was indeed compatible with s.h.i.+yue.

It's interesting. The things that Wu Yanfu wanted but could not get were really falling into his hands one by one.

Bai Tan lightly caressed the ax's body and his brows furrowed, "This ax, that old devil had gone through so much to try and get it but was not able to. How did you obtain it? What intentions do you have giving this to me?"

Ji Du smiled gently, "Truth to be told, your subordinate may not have any other skills but is extremely good at stealing. Sect Leader must have heard of the internal conflict within the Yue Yin Palace that happened some time ago, too. Your subordinate took the opportunity to pull a sham[12]. As for the reason I offered it to Sect Leader, is the Sect Leader not already well aware?"

Bai Tan, with a vicious voice and tone said, "I* hate it the most when others do not speak clearly."

Ji Du said, "Of course it would be for the treasure map."

Bai Tan hid the ax in his sleeve and stood with his hands behind his back, "The treasure map was burned by me. Did you not know that?"

The meaning behind the sentence was, give up and of course, the thing that is already in my possession, I will not be returning to you either.

Ji Du stared at him and thought that Bai Tan gripping onto the ax with his face filled with caution resembled a greedy cat; one that would not retract its claws once it sunk them into an advantage and would scratch anyone who got close. Yet, it had a beautiful coat of fur that tempted others to ravage it, making it hard to resist the urge to grab it, squis.h.i.+ng, and pinching it harshly.

Was this the reason s.h.i.+zun locked him up?

"Your subordinate has heard that Sect Leader has the ability to remember everything he sees. I am guessing that the Sect Leader must have a way of resolving it."

Bai Tan's heart skipped a beat.

Where did he hear that from? This ability of his was unknown even to Wu Yanfu – could Ji Du have heard it in his dream?

"A few years ago, this subordinate visited the Cang Jing Ge once and had coincidentally seen the Sect Leader there as well. Out of curiosity, this subordinate checked the place after the Sect Leader left and found that the scriptures were left as is, in their original positions. After that, this subordinate once saw the Sect Leader practicing San Fan Po from the Sky of Six Desires, on a mountain behind the snake room. The three moves were extremely complicated and ever-changing. Yet, Sect Leader was able to remember it all."

"Enough." Mentioning the snake room made Bai Tan feel unbearable shame. There had actually been another person who witnessed the past where he had to bare shame and live on the edge? Anger inevitably bloomed from the shame he felt and the thought of killing grew in his mind, "Are you threatening me*?"

"Your subordinate would not dare to." Ji Du was extremely deferential. "Your subordinate only seeks for a chance to accompany the Sect Leader. Despite there being countless treasures, this subordinate is plagued with a chronic illness and only seeks a cup of spring water from the Samudra Manthana within the Heavenly Hall. Moreover, the Sect Leader's current situation is really extremely dangerous. Your subordinate is willing to serve as the Sect Leader's s.h.i.+eld."

Bai Tan fell silent.

This person, Ji Du, was very bright and he could not get a proper handle on him. However, since he dared to be frank, he must have come prepared and had a backup plan. It might not be appropriate to silence him at this moment. Once the secret that he remembers the treasure map is leaked, he would become the common target of the public. Also, if this person was indeed capable of becoming his claws and eyes, it would really be advantageous for him. A relations.h.i.+p maintained by profit is more trustworthy than so-called loyalty.

Ji Du knew his place too and did not press on further. He bowed, "Sect Leader, it is not early anymore. Ji Du still has important matters to take care of. If needed, feel free to send an eagle to deliver a letter; Ji Du will reply to all requests."

Bai Tan let out a breath and with a wave of his sleeve, allowed him to leave.

The person got onto a horse and it was only after the person disappeared from his sight that he took "Pori" out from his sleeve. He swung it about for a short moment and when he felt a little more used to it, he gracefully leaped up with a tap of his foot on the ground. The execution of the "Fei Tian Fan Tan Pipa[13]" was extremely graceful and beautiful. With a rapid twist of his waist, he chopped, lifted, slashed, cut, and sliced. The weapon's movement was as fast as the blowing wind and the striking lightning as it formed streaks after streaks of light in mid-air, comparable to the reincarnation of a phoenix. It was the third move of San Fan Po, "Di Yu s.h.i.+ Jiu Bian[14]"!

One would not have turned into a demon in a single thought if he had not fallen into h.e.l.l and had his soul ground into fine powder.

Looking at the figure high above, Li Wuzhang could not help but sighed and gripped the pure gold letter tube in his hand.

He saw that Bai Tan was starting to enjoy himself and it would not be good to disturb him. However, just as he was about to leave, he saw that the figure stilled for a moment and for some reason, he suddenly fell from the star reading platform, like a kite with a broken string.

Li Wuzhang was stunned but immediately flew up to him. He had just caught him, yet, before he could get back onto the ground, Bai Tan pushed him away and fell straight into the Brahma Lake by the star reading platform.

A short moment later, he walked up onto the sh.o.r.e totally drenched, and his face as white as a piece of paper but he was hugging onto the ax tightly, as though afraid it would be stolen. Li Wuzhang went up to him, not knowing whether he should laugh or cry.

Before he could get close, Bai Tan's body suddenly swayed and fell to the ground on one knee.

After coughing a few times, a mouthful of blood was coughed up.

"Sect Leader? How are you?" Li Wuzhang bent down and tried to help him up.

"Ha, this is nothing. Every time I cough up blood, my* skills would improve as well!" Bai Tan smiled as he wiped the trail of blood by his lips. He felt embarra.s.sed fabricating lies. Having gotten hold of the ax, he got carried away and had forgotten that it was doc.u.mented in the book that "Di Yu s.h.i.+ Jiu Bian" was meant to be practiced only after attaining the highest level of the Sky of Six Desires.

His blood was not clear of toxic; his inner energy was also not sufficient and had almost gone berserk.

He was just about to stand up but the ground was spinning and without realizing it, he was falling forward.

Li Wuzhang squatted down to carry him but was unexpectedly faced with Bai Tan pressing his hand, which was curled into a claw, onto the top of his head. Li Wuzhang stiffened for a moment but when he felt Bai Tan's burning body, he continued and carried him horizontally in his arms.

"How dare you?" Bai Tan was rather weak and his voice was like a cat's mewl.

Li Wuzhang softened and he executed his qing gong, leaping upwards.

As he pa.s.sed through the Formless Forest, snowflakes started falling and he could not help thinking of the winter when he was on the order to capture Bai Tan who had escaped. He had carried him in the same way and he had been weeping softly in his arms.

I do not want to see s.h.i.+zun ever again, s.h.i.+xiong, will you not let me go?

I am begging you.

Back then, why did he not agree?

Had he actually let Bai Tan go at the time, maybe the situation would not have turned out as it has now.

The s.h.i.+zun he respected and looked up to was dead and the little s.h.i.+di he was fond of has become a person that even he was afraid of.

His mistake was not expecting that Bai Tan was able to hide his hatred so deeply. Li Wuzhang sighed silently, but s.h.i.+zun, you were obviously already falling for him. Why else would you end up in such a state?

"Daring to offend me in this manner – did you really think that you are my s.h.i.+xiong?"

"That is not the case." Li Wuzhang's heart sunk but the expression on his mask was still a joyous one and without slowing down, "Protecting the Sect Leader is this subordinate's responsibility. Would the Sect Leader please not blame me for it?"

As they were talking, something dove into his sleeve, nudging. It poked its triangular little head out and was acting coy towards him. It was the little skink that had just recognized him as its owner.

"San Du, you are understanding." Bai Tan patted it on its head but San Du jumped down to the ground and at lightning speed, leaped to a place not too far away. His attention was brought to the place and his expression changed.

Li Wuzhang looked over as well. It turned out to be the udumbara tree which was blooming by the sealed wine well. Looking from afar during the night, they resembled the frost flowers that are whiter than snow. They were so beautiful it would shock and touch your soul. The wine well is filled with the wine Wu Yanfu made himself. In previous years, he would visit the place frequently to drink and to view the flowers.

A gust of wind started blowing abruptly and the flower petals fluttered to the ground. Between the shadows cast by the tree, the figure of a human appeared as though it was an illusion.

A man sat by the well with a black outer coat draped over his shoulders, which brought out his appearance and made him look more like a flawless gem. His dark, black hair hung loosely as he stroked the pure white phoenix Kong Hou in front of him, making the flowers on the tree dull in comparison.

The moonlight softened his sharp and cold eyebrows and eyes. It also made his smile even more bewitching.

However, each word that spilled from his mouth killed the heart.

"I treat you like I would treat this flower: watering it daily, cultivating it patiently. Your most beautiful moment is the wine in my cup, for me to consume, for me to take. There is nothing else. Do not have wishful thinking. Do you understand?"

This was the person who raised and educated him. This person was who he had viewed as the sky, viewed as the sun and the moon. This person was also the person who treated him the most cruelly.

As though he was burned, Bai Tan quickly turned his head away and blinked, "Did I not order for this tree to be burned? Why is it blooming again? Lingering persistently. Send someone to burn it again."

Li Wuzhang picked up his pace and left in a hurry.

Bai Tan had gotten the name Bai Tan because on the night that he was brought up to Tian Shan, the udumbara which was said to bloom only once in three thousand years had actually bloomed. Wu Yanfu was very pleased and so he had bestowed the character "Tan" to him, as his name.

Today, the flowers bloomed again. Yet, the person was no longer around.

……

A faint streak of inner energy gathered in the originally empty sea of energy and Wu Yanfu slowly opened his eyes. The demonic vines that were wrapped around his body had loosened and were floating, scattered in the icy waters.

He spread his hand open, gathering the inner energy in his palm and injecting it into the water.

A few of the vines swam lightly like a live snake and curled around his arm, pulling him up, towards the water surface. Wu Yanfu leaned closely against the walls of the bath and stuck his head out of the water tentatively. The wet but withered hand was still unable to hold the body's weight and he was only able to forcibly climb onto the edge of the bath. He was panting as he glanced at the scary looking scar on the wrist and his eyes were as dark as can be. There was nothing funnier than the fact that he had personally ordered for the cut to be made.

Had he not severed the nerves of the limbs, he would not be having such a difficult time.

Was this what they call retribution?

He had never believed in fate and had never feared Buddha and G.o.d. However, the current situation made it hard for him to believe otherwise.

Wu Yanfu's eyes focused on the reflection on the water surface.

Back then, you were upset for so long because your teacher had killed this person. Yet, you do not know that your teacher now possesses his body. Tan'er, if you were to find out, would you be able to kill your teacher once more?

Anger boiled in his chest. He reached out and put all his strength into grabbing the edge of a rock by the bath. Inch by inch, he crawled up and the veins on the back of his pale hand were bulging, threatening to explode. Under exertion, the demonic vines grew along the wall. It then coiled around a stone pillar, as how a tentacle would, and pulled him completely out of the bath.

However, before he could crawl over to the Fu Tu formation used for cultivation, the sound of footsteps traveled in from outside.

Wu Yanfu retreated back into the bath leaving only a pair of eyes exposed above the water surface.

Following a "creak" of the door opening, a person entered carrying another in his arms. After placing two items on the table, he walked over.

He sank deeper into the water to peek silently and saw Li Wuzhang carrying Bai Tan over to the side of the bath before carefully putting him down. Bai Tan's face was painted red and his eyes were closed as though he was extremely tired, letting Li Wuzhang undress him. Wu Yanfu could not help but stare at the hand which moved across his body and sensed a shred of ambiguous feelings. One was his trusted second disciple, one was his pet. When did the two of them get involved?

Was it when he was still alive? How did he did not sense anything?

He swam over and, with a hand like a ghost claw, he caught Li Wuzhang's wrist.

Li Wuzhang did not expect for the yao ren to silently show such an action, and he froze as he wondered.

Bai Tan lifted his dense and dark eyelashes, took a look at the two hands in front of his chest, and did not understand what was happening for a moment.

"What is a yao ren like you doing?" Li Wuzhang flung the hand off his and it felt very eerie.

Wu Yanfu saw how Bai Tan was looking a little confused while feebly leaning in another person's embrace and frowned. "Your teacher" almost shot out from his mouth but it changed at the last moment before it left his mouth into "Master".

He opened his mouth and a hoa.r.s.e voice came out, "Master is burning up; let me help Master."

Li Wuzhang's expression became even more freaked out. He has had seen yao rens before, but the yao rens all had the dazed look of docility and obedience while the yao ren in front of him was too initiative – so much that it bordered on abnormality.

"The old devil's yao ren is different." Bai Tan smiled and ordered Li Wuzhang, "Wuzhang, leave. I* will treat the injuries myself, get Yin Tuo to come in later."

Li Wuzhang nodded, left, and closed the door behind him.

Wu Yanfu was still immersed in the "old devil" nickname and had not recovered from it.

What? In the little kid's eyes, he was not just a devil but also old?

Bai Tan removed his socks and shoes and soaked his feet in the water. He was about to undo the belt but, for some reason, he felt uncomfortable undressing in front of the yao ren. It was not as though he had never been naked in front of the servants before. However, at that moment, the emotions in the yao ren's eyes as he looked at him made him feel embarra.s.sed for no reason. It actually felt like when he was facing Wu Yanfu.

Yet, this yao ren was obviously expressionless and did not have a single bit of abnormality. It was just that when he was staring at him, even though there was hardly any warmth, it was focused. Bai Tan could not bear it anymore and lashed out, "Shut your eyes. You are not allowed to look at me."

Wu Yanfu obeyed and shut his eyes but in his heart, he thought, was there a part of you that your teacher has not seen?

With a splash, Bai Tan entered the bath and submerged his body under the icy water. Immediately, the burning sensation he felt on his entire body dispersed by quite a bit. Feeling the chillness radiating off the yao ren, he could not help moving closer voluntarily. Pus.h.i.+ng him against the wall of the bath, he lowered his head to locate an easily accessible blood vessel on his neck to drink from and bit down harshly.

After drawing a few mouths of blood vigorously, he started licking and biting like a hungry tiger, not caring about how he looked as he ate.

With one particularly large and loud gulp, Bai Tan fell into a stupor and collapsed on the yao ren under him.

The damped hair coiled around Wu Yanfu's neck created an itch that reached his heart. He reached over to pull the teen's chin and looked down. He inadvertently saw the mark on the teen's soft and thin, petal-like earlobe, freezing his gaze and breath. The deep bite mark made by him before he died.

Wu Yanfu's heart throbbed and he almost wanted to give it another bite.

Naturally, one bite would not be enough.

The kid only knew that he was his yao ren but did not know that since he took his blood relic, he could also be his yao ren. Blood, saliva, tears – all the bodily fluid contained the essence of the blood relic. The fastest way to take back his powers was to take his virginity and replenish his powers.

If it was with the important ident.i.ty of his "benefactor", it probably would not be a difficult task?

Xiao's Comments:

That part about Bai Tan's time in the dungeon and how he was tortured and went blind as he waited and prayed for Wu Yanfu to come rescue him was sad as f.u.c.k…I can understand his sense of betrayal and why he tries so hard to convinced himself he doesn't love Wu Yanfu.

“Today, the flowers bloomed again. Yet, the person was no longer around.”

This. .h.i.ts my angst point so much, I love it~

[6] The term is used to refer to obstacles from the demons during the pract.i.tioner's cultivation. It is something that hinders the pract.i.tioner from being successful unless overcomed.

[7] Eldest senior or uppercla.s.sman.

[8] It actually says A wolf's heart, dog's lungs and the innards of snakes and scorpions, which are phrases/proverbs used to describe someone as heartless and cruel.
