She held the new cell phone that Huo Yunting bought for her in her hands. So far, there was only one function that was useful to her: the hourly time alert.

“Miss Lu, please rest early. You can go home tomorrow.” The caregiver said in a soft voice beside her. “Is there anything else that you need me to do?”

“No, thank you.” Lu Zhaoyang put down the phone and closed her eyes. She decided to sleep. Day or night; it made no difference to her anymore.

In the middle of the night, someone patted and jolted her out of her sleep. Just as she wanted to make a sound, her mouth was covered.

“Yang Yang, it is me.” It was Huo Chen’s voice. He slowly took his hand off her mouth and held her to sit up.

“I am sorry for coming to see you only after so long.” The sadness in his voice was unstoppable. It was still low and warm but sounding as if there was a lump in his throat.

Just as Lu Zhaoyang groped aimlessly, a pair of hands held her firmly. She could not hold back her tears.

She had become accustomed to showing all her joys and sorrows in front of Huo Chen. There was no need to suppress nor conceal her feelings.

“Cry it out. I have knocked the caregiver out. She will not hear it.” His warm voice had given Lu Zhaoyang refuge. She could now release her suppressed emotions. Leaning on his shoulder, Lu Zhaoyang cried uncontrollably. It was her first time crying so hard since she lost her eyesight.

Huo Chen gently patted her back and wiped her tears from time to time. He could not see her face clearly in the dark but her cries were already aching him deeply.

After a long while, Lu Zhaoyang’s crying finally reduced to just sobbing. Huo Chen had done a lot of things for the past two days, and eventually, he could tell her.

“Yang Yang, let us leave this place and seek treatment abroad,” Huo Chen said.

“But you—”

“I am fine.” Huo Chen stroked her long hair while he shook her head. “I have applied to leave the military. On one, except you, will have anything to do with me. There will not be any accidents happen like last time again.”

Huo Chen knew that Lu Zhaoyang would surely be worried about him. So, he had used all the connections that he had, without the knowledge of the old lady, to settle every unstable factor in advance.

“I cannot leave just like that. My mom is still in the Huo family,” Lu Zhaoyang said, worrying that Huo Yunting might harm her mom if she left. She could not bear to even think about it.
