Chapter 10: Convincing words and Another incident
After saying those words, the king's sad expression returned to normal. He stopped speaking and closed his eyes. It looked like he was meditating.
The familiar silence continued.
On the other hand, the old man's expression was severe. Looking at the king, he knew that the King was giving him a final chance to persuade him. Thus, he couldn't afford to say something without logical and thorough reasoning. He opened his mouth many times to speak, but only his mouth opened; no sound was heard as the words got stuck in his throat.
Earlier, he nodded many times as he agreed with the wise words of King Clark that the war would only bring destruction and the war was not the solution to every problem. However, the old man also knew that those words were just beautiful to listen and write in a piece of paper. They had no place in real life.
He didn't look at the king as he hung his head down and pondered deeply. Today he came to meet the king as there was an urgent need to convince King Clark to take part in the war. Many people were placing their hopes on him. Many believed he could persuade the king successfully.
Among many officials in the country, he had one of the most important roles. He was the advisor of the king. The king listened to him and also called him "uncle" in private showing respect. Others called him Old Advisor.
Before he came here, he met with many officials. Those officials included the prime minister, ministers, military generals, and commanders.
'Sigh! Finally, after a long time, I had gotten free time to spent with my lovely grandsons and granddaughters. However, those coward officials called me here, ruining my peaceful, resting time.' The Old Advisor mumbled inwardly with dissatisfaction.
They all wanted him to convince the King for war. He listened to them carefully and considered their discussions genuinely. After that, he came to the judgment that war was necessary and he had to convince the king. With a determined heart, he then went straight towards the King's study.
Old Advisor knew that the things were far from being peaceful. And if the situation remained the same, it was going to be over for Lanrobi.
Small beats of sweats started to appear in his forehead as the Old Advisor began to ponder anxiously. He had to consider his words carefully. His words must be compelling and persuasive enough to change King's beliefs.
Although the old Advisor had a secret weapon offered by those officials, he wouldn't use it unless it was a last resort.
'If I couldn't convince his majesty, then only I would use that weapon. Otherwise, if his majesty sees this, he could lose himself. Blood will flow like rivers. He will burn every nation with his anger including ours. I couldn't let that happen.'
Sighing softly, the Old Advisor started to stroke his long white beard. He refocused his mind to plan his actions so that he could have the upper hand while "talking" to the King. He looked around the King's study room while pondering.
The room was very beautifully decorated. There was a study table at the left while a vast collection of books at the left arranged in multiple bookshelves. He moved his gaze towards the table.
He saw a book lying on the table. He figured it was the book; the king was reading recently. He curiously then stretched his neck a little to read the book's name.
"This... This is the book my grandson was reading yesterday. I heard this book was extremely famous. To think that the king liked to read this kind of book.."
As he read the name of the book, he was surprised. However, he soon shook his head thinking he shouldn't judge the king based on his book taste. He looked at the king at the corner of his eyes fearfully and saw the king did not react. He inwardly sighed softly. He then began to form a plan.
"... Anyway, I have finally thought of a plan. I could persuade the king with this plan."
The old man played his plans and actions inside his mind step by step to ensure no mishaps with the various angles.
'First, show the evidence that peace should be achieved with war. Second, I will introduce the villain characters and put forward their acts. Third, I will then conclude by making him believe that he is a hero and his mission is to slay those villains.'
After ten minutes, the old advisor finally raised his head and looked at his majesty. There was a look of confidence in his face.
"Your Majesty," The Old Advisor said slowly. The King opened his eyes and looked at him.
Seeing this, the old Advisor continued, "I think that wars are needed to bring the peace. I agree that during the war, there would be great destruction. But after the war, though it would take a long time, there would be peace, and it would be long-lasting. History is my evidence. You can take the example of the First World War a hundred and fifty years ago. It took only 2 and a half years of wars for the whole continent to achieve peace until now..."
Old Advisor was observing the king while talking. He noticed the king had lowered his head. He thought his words had made a profound impact on the king.
'Yes' Inwardly, he said joyfully.
'Now, it's time for my another move.'
The Old Advisor continued, "Your majesty, we have found that terrorist organization "The Rebels" were funded by our neighboring nations. We have other pieces of information showing another organization like "The Rebels" may start their criminal activities soon. The gangs and underworld criminals are also becoming more and more active these times. We have also found many spies and hackers from other nations were trying to steal our military blueprints."
'Now It's time for my final move! Since he likes to read comic books, just like in that book, I will change him into a hero and all others in the villains. This will surely convince him.'
"Your majesty, you are the only one who wants truly wants peace, but look at others. They don't agree with you. They want you to take part in the war and want you to get dirty like them. They don't like it since you are becoming a hero to the common people who want to avoid war and sufferings. While they see other kings' as evil people, you are regarded as an idol and a model by them. The common people of Lanrobi believes that you would protect them and stop those evils."
The old Advisor finally stopped speaking. He didn't mention anything about the comic thinking that could offend the king. He calmly looked at the king with confidence. He wanted to smile; however, he dared not to do that in front of the king."
The king raised his head and looking at his Advisor; he suddenly laughed, "Hahahaha!"

[Demoness]
As Cyril saw those light blue words floating above the beautiful nurse's head, he sighed in relief. 'She is not of a higher level. That's a relief.'
The train incident had left a deep repercussion in his mind, so he would always check the person's level immediately after seeing.
'Demoness! It's my first time seeing this. That's an interesting t.i.tle. I wonder what that means?'
Next, Cyril focused his attention on her t.i.tle.
However, before he could see the t.i.tle expanding, he saw something else that greatly shocked him.
"What are you doing?" Startled, he shouted.
He saw a knife in that girl's hand. He had no idea how that knife suddenly appeared in her hands.
She was walking closer to him with a small smile. That smile added a charm in her face.
However, that face looked dreadful to Cyril. He didn't want to face another incident.
He wanted nothing more to wake up if he was dreaming this nightmare.
"Shh!" The girl made a gesture by putting a finger in front of her mouth.
Frightened, his mind went black. Cyril wanted to shout. However, his mouth refused to move.
He hadn't still gotten over his last trauma as he even now would visualize of those horrifying scenes when he was in the train from time to time.
Now, finding himself again in a similar situation where he could lose his life, he became too terrified.
Cyril's heart started beating violently. He was scared stiff as he couldn't move his body now.
He felt suffocated and nauseatic.
He started feeling a sharp pain in his heart as well as in his stomach.
Darkness started to spread around his eyes as he began to pa.s.s out.
Finally, he stopped breathing.
He died.
