Sheng Qianmo was holding a brush and writing. As he looked up, he saw Shu Nuan carry over a bowl of grapes. His lips turned upwards; he was a little helpless when it came to snacks.

 But he could only look at the fruit. Shu Nuan began to read and take notes, looking very thoughtful. Every once in a while she would take a grape and put it in her mouth.

Sheng Qianmo had been trying to finish his governmental affairs, but he simply couldn't concentrate. He put down the doc.u.ments and asked her, “Why aren't you serving me the grapes?"

 When she heard him speak, Shu Nuan looked away from the book and glanced at him, pressing her lips into a thin line. She was obstinate in her temper. Although her voice was soft, she was persistent. "I won't share."

Sheng Qianmo raised his eyebrows. “When did you become so stingy?

 Shu Nuan was fl.u.s.tered and refused to reply. She bowed her head and continued to push the grapes into her small mouth.

She was so startled that she her mouth was hanging open with a grape still inside. She stared at Sheng Qianmo for a while, wanting to say something, but unable to. She took the grapes out of her mouth and said in a reluctant voice, “Your Highness, don't pinch this slave's b.u.t.t, okay…”

However, Sheng Qianmo looked at her white and tender little fingers holding a grape that was in her mouth. The grapes were covered in saliva, and then she'd said such words from her pretty mouthy… Sheng Qianmo clenched his throat and restrained his surging emotions. When he got there, he found that Shu Huan didn't go to his bed, but was lying on the couch outside the canopy screen. She was covered with quilts and not moving at all.

As Sheng Qianmo came over, he noticed Shu Nuan's soft and white hands sticking out of the quilt corner. He stretched out his arm to pull off the quilt, but the little girl held fast to a corner to prevent him from pulling it off.

Sheng Qianmo's face was a mix of distress and amus.e.m.e.nt. “Are you angry again?”

A sullen voice escaped the quilt, "Your Highness bullied this slave…"

“I didn't bully you.”

“Liar…”

Sheng Qianmo didn't coax her. He pulled the quilt a little hard this time and it came off. Shu Nuan was lying down. She looked up at him with her eyes wet and her face blus.h.i.+ng. Sheng Qianmo picked her up and put her on his lap. He wiped away her tears, and gently asked, “Why are you crying again?”
