“Woah, it can even be used like that!” The squad members behind gaped when they saw the scarlet sword entering the demonic beast through its mouth, wreaking mayhem on it from inside, and killing it.

Everyone obviously knew that the insides of those demonic beasts’ bodies were their weakness. However, to actually attack the inside of their bodies wasn’t something so easily done, and yet Zhang Che did it!

“Be careful of our flanks!”

While they were distracted, a large group of demonic creatures quickly surrounded them from the sides.

One of the squad members reacted to this and cried out loud. It was only then they snapped out of their admiration and wors.h.i.+p of Zhang Che and guarded his flanks, not allowing those demonic creatures to hara.s.s him.

At present, Zhang Che had fallen into shock once more.

Earlier, when he first slew those demonic creatures, just the fact that the golden vortex absorbed a little bit of the mysterious energy had surprised him. He didn’t expect the rainbow crystal to gain something, too.

Earning double the experience was too much of a surprise!

He felt it carefully, and discovered that ma.s.s of pure energy wasn’t actually absorbed by the rainbow crystal. Instead, it was condensed into a tiny dot of light, hovering right under the rainbow crystal.

Alas, Zhang Che didn’t have the time to study this properly now that he was fighting on the battlefield.

After killing one of the big demonic beasts, the rest of them were quickly surrounding him.

Zhang Che didn’t retreat. His babies weren’t there for decorative purposes.

The Earthen Rock Demon was the first to react. Its leg was as thick as a pillar, and it suddenly rose and kicked fiercely at a demonic beast. It cried out miserably as it directly flew backwards, falling on a bunch of ordinary demonic creatures.

The Steel-Armored Tyrannosaurus swung its thick tail, and a demonic beast was swept to the ground. Afterwards, the Steel-Armored Tyrannosaurus bit down at its neck and tore at it violently. Half of the flesh on its neck was torn off, and its vertebra broke in two.

The most visually pleasing one was still the Mutated Giant Ape’s attacking style.

That fellow transformed into a martial arts grand master, weaving his way between a few demonic beasts. His fists struck out continuously, forcing back those demonic beasts and making them spit reddish-black blood from their mouths.

About a dozen of those demonic beasts were held back together by the most capable babies, leaving them unable to get close to Zhang Che at all.

As for the Scarlet Flame Drake and the Darkfiend Abyssal Dragon, the teamwork between the two of them had reached a high level long ago. Ice and fire attacks spread out, sweeping in an arc, exterminating a huge swathe of the ordinary demonic creatures ahead.

Strand after strand of mysterious energy, as numerous as the hairs on a cow, came flying into Zhang Che’s brow, quickly blending into the golden vortex.

Regrettably, the amount of mysterious energy on each demonic creature was far too little. Zhang Che couldn’t feel the golden vortex becoming the slightest bit stronger.

-Do I have to freaking kill every demonic creature here before the golden vortex grows a little?- Zhang Che cursed inside as he controlled the scarlet sword, making it fly into the mouth of another demonic beast.

This was like a person who was about to die of thirst only getting a drop of water in their mouth every time they swallowed. It wasn’t helping at all!

From the looks of it, it was better to hunt the demonic beasts who were obviously much stronger. When their energy had acc.u.mulated to a certain extent, he could try to see how useful it was.

Whoos.h.!.+ The scarlet sword flew out. Another demonic beast lost its life. Immediately, another ma.s.s of pure energy was sucked out by the rainbow crystal. That tiny dot of light instantly doubled in size… and was still an unimpressive dot of light.

This acc.u.mulation speed was also incredibly slow…

Zhang Che sighed. He could only continue controlling the scarlet sword to slay the dozen or so wounded demonic beasts ahead.

Finally, the acc.u.mulation of energy light below the rainbow crystal grew to more than ten times its original size. Currently, it was as big as a green bean.

As of now, all of the beastmaster teams were fully engaged in battle against the demonic army.

They were the most elite of the mid-tier beastmasters from Bei Du City, after all. Every one of them had at least a four-star gold-quality subdued beast. By forming them into an army, under the command of the military they displayed unimaginable combat strength.

Due to the lack of strong individuals among the demonic army, they fell into a disadvantaged position across the board. They were repeatedly beaten and forced back.

Not only that, there wasn’t a single casualty among the thousands of beastmasters. At the most, they only lost a few subdued beasts here and there, not enough to affect their overall strength.

Zhang Che and the rest of the twenty-three spearhead teams had displayed great strength in this battle. Any large demonic beasts with thick hides and tough flesh were held down by them, unable to get to the beastmasters teams behind them.

As the main force pushed their way forward, the pressure on Zhang Che and the rest was also greatly reduced. They didn’t have to face the huge demonic army by themselves. They only had to find the stronger ones among the demonic army and slay them!

Just as the beastmasters thought they would eliminate all of the demonic army smoothly, the commanding officer’s cautious warning was suddenly heard in everyone’s wireless earpiece.

“Attention all units, the demonic army is about to counterattack! Attention all units, the demonic army is about to counterattack!”

Obviously the demonic army wasn’t willing to be defeated just like that. When the cannon fodder-like ordinary demonic creatures had receded like the tide, the stronger creatures at the back quickly charged forward without any regard for their life or death.

The spearhead teams had also received an order telling them to not take any further risks. They were to hold their ground and fend off this wave of the demonic army’s counterattack.

In the end, the demonic army’s counterattack was futile.

The beastmaster army fought defensively, not advancing prematurely at all. They slowly pushed forward, bit by bit, leaving the demonic army unable to retaliate properly.

The satellites and jets above were observing the situation clearly. Once the demonic army tried to gather their stronger creatures to penetrate into the beastmaster teams, they were immediately bombarded by the squadrons of jets. Missiles rained down from the sky as if they were free, leaving the demons unable to gather their forces.

In the end, the demonic army was forced back and squeezed within fifty meter radius around the black door, their casualties heavy.

Meanwhile, the beastmaster army had only lost some subdued beasts. In terms of manpower, they basically lost no one.

What left the demonic army helpless the most was that after they killed the subdued beasts, they directly turned into glowing lights and dissipated, not leaving any useful corpses behind.

In the end, the demonic army could no longer withstand such losses, and started retreating into the black door.

Seeing this, everyone cheered out loud.

Regardless if the demonic army would make a comeback in the future, they were driven out of Mercury for now. The huge crisis they presented was temporarily resolved.
