Death's Scythe Chapter 20: [ Dungeon #2 (Ii) ]

' What tiers are these hunks of wood ?' Leo asked as his claws slashed through the chest of a golem made of wood .

[ Pseudo-middle-intermediate ]

' Huh .' He thought as his hand ignited and with it the whole block of wood burnt with a black flame .

' These things are slow , and have basically no defense against fire . ' He stopped as he a.n.a.lyzed the things surrounding him . ' They are just blocks of wood with strange carvings on them . ' He thought .

He knew they were rune carvings . He had read enough fantasy to know what these things were . ' Golems . Made by channeling Mana into an inanimate object to give it life . Basically , a dumb A.I. .' He jumped up and he mouth turned into the maw of a dragon .

He roared as he looked down at the Golems and then at the ground below him . He took a deep breath , and then released it back . The only difference was , he released the fire breath of a dragon . The black fire hit the ground , and spread out as it burnt the Golems down starting with their feet .

' Another 10 down . If Elly has the same number of kills as me , there's only about a 1000 more left on the floor . ' He thought as he smiled .' How many hours have we been here for ?'

' That's a good bit of time , but I've been getting stronger at a good pace too ... It is troublesome that I have to wait for 5 minutes without any combat to absorb the Mana .' He thought .

' Faster .' She thought as her feet moved , with an expressionless face , and with a fire burning on top of a palm . One of her hands was behind her , but the other one moved around , like flowing water as she kept throwing around b.a.l.l.s made of fire colored in a pale blue .

She was running . To catch up to him . No . To be faster than him . She couldn't bear the silence . All she heard was the sound of her feet as they hit against the ground . There was the sound of wood rubbing against wood , as the Golems moved to catch up to her .

She turned around and three another feel b.a.l.l.s of fire at the monsters . One for each . The fire burnt their bodies and brightened the cave even more than the fire she herself carried .

' I want to hear him .' She thought ' I hate being lonely .' She couldn't hear his voice if she was faraway . He stopped between floors for atleast an hour . That was the only time she could know he was still with her . She wanted to get out of this h.e.l.l as fast as possible .

' Just one more .' She thought as she rushed towards the stairs she could see in the distance . Her face finally showed a trace of happiness as she thought about her brother . She could feel a trace of his aura . It was the same calm aura , that didn't flicker , even as he killed endlessly . The only time there was any change was when he was with her . She kept a careful watch at his aura as she once again sat on a stair .

He looked at his sister , who was sitting nearby as she ate a sandwich . It wasn't necessarily eating , with the size of her bites . It would be more appropriate to call it nibbling .

" What happened ?" He asked with a strange tone , he had never heard himself speak with " Why are you killing so many monsters all of a sudden ?"

He was concerned something may have happened when she encountered sudden deafness back then . He wanted to know if something changed .

" I just want to get out of here as fast as possible . I can't believe you won't let me sleep in the dungeon ." She said as she crawled up to him with a pout .

He was surprised not having enough sleep was the reason for her violent nature . ' Well , people do have outbursts after not sleeping for long times .'

He thought he was different , because he didn't require much sleep . He thought of others as being the same humans , who couldn't last long without enough sleep .

But the reality was different . Humans who had absorbed Mana into their bodies , only had to rest to restore their Mana . Leo had an almost infinite supply of Mana with his Regeneration , so he didn't require any sleep .

" Resting here is unsafe , and even if you put a sheet on the ground , it will still be the ground . You are a princess . You will , at the very least , sleep like a princess . On a soft bed , in a closed room ." He said he looked her into the eyes .

Leah smiled as she crawled even closer to him " But won't you protect me as I sleep ?"

He patted her head and stood up " I'll let you rest for 2 extra hours after the next floor . You need to be in the best condition before we beat the boss . I'll even carry you on the way back . Is that enough motivation ?"

She nodded her head repeatedly and followed behind him as he walked towards one direction .

She looked at his back , as he got away . After a while , she finally stood up and put the sheet in her card ' Let's get this done as fast as possible .'

She looked back in the direction he left and nodded her head . ' Let's get put of here .'

' I can even create fire out of thin air ' She said with a smile as she snapped her fingers , and a fire appeared above her finger . ' And change it as I like .' The fire changed colors from orange to green , to purple , to finally the smart pale blue she used before . ' He gave me much more ideas when I could hear his thoughts .' She remembered when he remembered a thing called periodic table ' Though he said it was incomplete ' She though remembering 93 of those ' elements' and their exact characteristics was enough , but apparently , he didn't . ' Talking to him this way feels way more precious . I'd rather not hear his thoughts , just to have this feeling of fulfillment every time I talk to him .'

She started running as she burnt the Golems , which had did nothing but increase in size after becoming Middle-Intermediate tier monsters . ' The carvings have increased too .' She thought as she hypnotized all Golems she saw to follow behind her .
