"For a girl, if you don't cherish yourself, no one else will cherish you." said the head teacher routinely before cla.s.s is over.
Jian Rus.h.i.+ sat in the last row. Now all her cla.s.smates turned their heads and looked at her on hearing what the head teacher said.
"It's a shame to be a mistress. That'll be a stain along with your whole life. Your parents gave birth to you not to let you humiliate yourselves."
Again all her cla.s.smates turned their heads and looked at her.
"Stepping into other's family, or throwing yourself to an old man's arms for money, do you really feel comfortable to spend that money?"
Jian Rus.h.i.+ started to think whether she was too showy with a huge bag of luxuries when she came in.
"So I hope you can all set up the right views and values, and have your own moral bottom lines. Besides, youth is temporal. Those stuff you exchange with your youth is like fireworks. After they burn out, nothing will be left." the head teacher glanced at Jian Rus.h.i.+ and then dismissed the cla.s.s.
Jian Rus.h.i.+ carried her big bag of luxuries and strutted back to her dormitory.
Soon to graduate, everyone was busy looking for a suitable job. Only she was lingering on different luxury stores.
That was because she had already found a job in a company listed Fortune Global 500. She would get fully paid during her interns.h.i.+p period, ten-to-four. Besides, there was also extra money.
Lin Xue was processing Jian's picture on Photoshop, making her look more delicate on her resume. Lin said, "Jian Rus.h.i.+, now you've got favored, you should let us ride your c.o.c.ktails. Your boyfriend is a big shot, so he must have a lot of connections. As your closest friends in college, find us some good jobs.
Jian Rus.h.i.+'s six roomies all nodded their heads and looked at her with expectations.
Jian Rus.h.i.+ put on her white ta.s.sel skirt and a pearl necklace she nearly bought. She looked into the mirror and felt like a pure white lotus. She said with a smile, "I will have a try."
Apparently getting well dressed up was for a days. Now it was almost time. Jian quickly picked up her handbag and went out.
On the way she remembered she forgot something and went back. Before she arrived at the door, she heard her roomies were talking behind her back,
"A twenty-something girl found an old man over fifty as her boyfriend. Moral degeneration!
"Looking from each angle, she is totally ordinary-looking. Who would lay an eye on her except that old lousy man?"
"Everyone in the cla.s.s knew whom our head teacher said those words to. But look at her. Acting like a fool. Gee! She totally has no sense of shame?
"How would she be other's mistress if she has the sense of shame?"
Jian Rus.h.i.+ turned around and walked around the playground on and on. It was undeniable she was pretty down now.
Jian took the cellphone out of her purse, and decided to call Mr. Sponsor after hesitating for a long time, "I don't wanna go home tonight."
"Why?"
"All my cla.s.smates have their drivers."
"H'm." the person on the other side responded and hang up directly.
See? A relations.h.i.+p based on money was so indifferent.
Jian Rus.h.i.+ took a deep sigh, and kept wandering on the playground with her head down. If her family hadn't had that accident…if she had still been that n.o.ble princess…if…
While she was losing in her thoughts, a call came in.
"Come out now. The driver is waiting outside." No doubt, it was from Mr. Sponsor.
Then he hung up without giving Jian Rus.h.i.+ a chance to say a word.
