Chapter 1119: Departed Spirit Shaman Lord Bradley

“Do what? Lure the monster? Are you an Archer…” w.a.n.g Yu gave Unfathomable Mystery an interesting glance. He recalled that they were all gathered at the Archer’s resurrection point and when Unfathomable Mystery killed himself, he actually returned to that resurrection point.

“En… I’m an Ambush Killer, one of the hidden branches.” Unfathomable Mystery nodded his head.

“I see, I see.”

w.a.n.g Yu suddenly realised that it was no wonder this fella’s long-distance attack had the help of the system aid. So it turns out that this fella was an Archer.

There were all kinds of odd hidden branch jobs in <>. Therefore, it wasn’t strange to see a skill like [Stealth]. Even a Pugilist’s afterimage skill had a split second of invisibility, let alone the original Archer and Thief.

As he spoke, Unfathomable Mystery took out a bow from his bag and aimed towards the Departed Spirit Shaman Lord before firing an arrow.

The basic rule was to attack the one with weak defense and high offensive capabilities first. Even though the Departed Spirit Shaman Lord’s two million HP was pretty frightening, it was nothing when compared to all the other BOSSes. A monster like this would either have tremendous firepower or disgusting abilities. Therefore, there was a need to get rid of him first.

“!!”

Unfathomable Mystery’s arrow was aimed at Departed Spirit Shaman Lord’s head and an exclamation mark appeared on top of his head. “Insects in the dark, there is no way you can cover your traces in front of the mighty Departed Spirit Shaman Lord!”

When the Departed Spirit Shaman Lord’s aggro was drawn in, he recited the lines given to him before charging towards where the four of them were.

The witchcraft job was equivalent to the Shamans of the Dark Faction. As a fully armoured job, the Departed Spirit Shaman Lord was not the most agile monster out there. However, as a level 70 BOSS, Bradley was considered pretty swift.

After reciting his lines, it didn’t take long for Bradley to arrive in front of the four of them.

Bradley had a tall but skinny figure and because he was a departed spirit, he didn’t display much expression on his face. Deep within his abstruse eyes, there were sparkles of peculiar radiances which could seem intimidating at times.

Within the settings of the game, the instinct of organisms like a departed spirit was entirely different from humans. As intruders, everything w.a.n.g Yu and the rest did was unforgivable. Moreover, Unfathomable Mystery was even the one who provoked him.

Seeing w.a.n.g Yu and the three others, Bradley waved his staff without any hesitation. A pitch-black barrier appeared from beneath their feet.

“Not good! That’s the [Dark Barrier], hurry up and escape!”

Looking at the rising ring beneath their feet, w.a.n.g Yu was shocked. His gaze towards Bradley turned serious too.

As a Martial Artist, w.a.n.g Yu could be considered to be almost invincible in the game. However, he was still extremely fearful of control jobs like this. He was especially fearful of crowd control skills like [Dark Barrier] which could root him to the spot. This could be considered the jinx to a job like w.a.n.g Yu who depended largely upon his movements to get the better of his opponents.

However, there were plenty of restrictions for crowd control skills in <>. For example, a stunning crowd control skill like [Dark Barrier] would expose the user to vulnerability just before the execution of the skill.

As the advanced version of a Dark Shaman’s trademark skill [Distortion], the [Dark Barrier]’s range was much further than [Distortion]. Therefore, the user would need more time to prepare for the execution of the skill as compared to [Distortion]. Unless the opponent had heaven-defying judgement, it wasn’t difficult to avoid this skill. Under normal circ.u.mstances, this was more suitable for squad battles. It wouldn’t be impressive for small scale PKs.

However, this BOSS in front of them did not need any time to prepare for the execution of his [Dark Barrier]. He activated it almost immediately.

One must know that as Spring Halo was dubbed to be one of the peak experts in the world of Dark Shamans. He had all kinds of equipment to help his execution of his [Dark Barrier] but still required a time of 1.5 seconds to do so.

Even so, an expert like Spring Halo was more than capable of troubling w.a.n.g Yu with his [Dark Barrier] alone. Evidently, the formidable effect resulting from the combination of crowd control skill + instant activation was simply outrageous. Just the thought of it was a pain in the *ss and this just proved how despicable the system could be.

While w.a.n.g Yu was shocked, his body didn’t stop moving. Despite his shock, he managed to flash backwards and escaped the range of the [Dark Barrier].

As for Mystery Observer and the two others, they weren’t as agile as w.a.n.g Yu. As the [Dark Barrier] rose, the three of them were rooted to the spot.

Concurrently, a green fog appeared on the palm of Bradley’s other hand. Following that, his icy cold gaze was fixed on the three of them.

Mystery Observer was instantly dumbfounded as he cried out fearfully in the chat, “Bull… Brother Bull, hurry up and save me…”

Poison coming from players and from a BOSS was two entirely different concepts.

When players used poison, the worst that could happen were reduced speed, depleted health or defense. On the other hand, when a BOSS played with poison, the damage done was not inferior to any ordinary attacks and the large decrease in health was continual.

The poison fog condensed as the colour grew denser and just when Bradley was about to toss it towards the three of them, w.a.n.g Yu used his [Crus.h.i.+ng Blow] to arrive right in front of Bradley. A long pole appeared in his hand as he swung forward.

“Pah!”

A loud sound was heard as the pole struck Bradley’s rigid wrist.

Bradley’s wrist trembled and the poisonous fog on his palm disappeared.

“Eh?”

As an Obsidian-grade Elite BOSS, Bradley’s AI was naturally not weak. When Bradley saw that w.a.n.g Yu disrupted his skill, his expression changed and in that instant, he realised that the person in front of him was his real opponent.

Hence, Bradley simply pointed his staff towards Mystery Observer and the two others. The ground beneath their feet started loosening as more departed spirits crawled out from the ground.

In such an eerie scene, this scene was truly frightening. Coupled with the fact that they weren’t able to move, they were petrified even though they knew this was merely a game.

Mystery Observer and Unfathomable Mystery were slightly better off. After all, they were grown men whose heart was a little stronger. Looking at such a scene, even they had gooseb.u.mps so one could imagine how a lady like Five Flagtree felt when she was in the same situation.

“Help me please…”

Seeing how the three of them were surrounded, w.a.n.g Yu was worried as he wanted to help. However, Bradley extended his staff in front of w.a.n.g Yu as he made an incredibly husky sound, “You! My opponent!”

“What?”

w.a.n.g Yu was taken aback at how this BOSS had an att.i.tude of his own. However, dungeon quests were meant to work with friends so w.a.n.g Yu was not in the mood to challenge him to a solo PK.

“F*ck!”

w.a.n.g Yu wasn’t bothered by Bradley, who tried to block his way. He simply lowered his head and got past the staff before darting towards the crowd of departed spirits.

Bradley flew into a rage as he immediately swung his hands towards w.a.n.g Yu. Multiple blue flames flew right out of Bradley’s large sleeves as they flew towards w.a.n.g Yu’s back at an incredible speed.

“Brother Bull, be careful of the [Flames of the Nether] behind you!!”

The three of them cried out when they saw the gleaming blue flames chasing after w.a.n.g Yu.

[Flames of the Nether] was an independent skill of a Shaman. Even though the initial damage was not high, it would continually reduce the target’s HP and MP. This was a skill more frustrating than poison.

Of course, if a BOSS like Bradley could release a skill like [Dark Barrier] instantly, this [Flames of the Nether] had to be undoubtedly even more disgusting.
