Starry Night finished their song, which was received by applause from the audience and the contestants backstage.

The three got off the stage and the staff led them to their designated lounge.

“Captain Yize, please have a break here. I still have to get the contestants prepared and will be leaving you here,” the young woman said shyly, and was going to leave when Sheng Yize called after her. “One moment, please.”

Huh? Why had the big star stopped her? She hoped it wasn’t to give her some ridiculous request!

An Xiaxia blinked and was pondering whether to call He Jiayu or not.

“Well, Starry Night needs you in their lounge. They want to discuss the development of pop music with you and need your opinion on the history of the violin,” said the girl earnestly.

An Xiaxia didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. She said yes and went to Starry Night’s lounge as instructed.

As soon as she pushed the door open, a pair of big hands took her by the shoulders and Chi Yuanfeng said lightheartedly, “Xiaxia, you’re finally here! We’ve been waiting for you!”

“Hm…” An Xiaxia struggled free of his paws and ran to Sheng Yize. She asked curiously, “How did you know I was here?”

Sheng Yize smiled. “Miss Bai told me… We received the invitation to the music festival a while ago, which is why we’re here.”

At the mention of the compet.i.tion, An Xiaxia turned to He Jiayu with s.h.i.+ning eyes.

He Jiayu was listening to their conversation with a genteel smile on his face. Sensing An Xiaxia’s expectant gaze, he rubbed his nose. “What? Do I have something on my face?”

The look in An Xiaxia’s eyes reminded him so much of a puppy staring at a bone.

“He Jiayu, I saw you playing the piano just then… My partner is sick and can’t be here. Can you accompany me on the piano, please?” An Xiaxia looked at him with eager eyes. “It’s a really simple piece. It’s Starry Sky from one of your earlier alb.u.ms!”

A pair of big hands took hold of her waist and An Xiaxia turned to Sheng Yize with a confused look. She had no idea why he was frowning.

He Jiayu chuckled. “Why do you need me when Sheng Yize’s here? Have you forgotten that he’s the best pianist in our group? Plus, he’s the one who composed Starry Sky…”

An Xiaxia opened her eyes wide and looked at Sheng Yize in disbelief.

Sheng Yize snorted tsundere-style. “Go find someone else, then, if that’s what you want.”

Despite his words, his grip on An Xiaxia’s waist didn’t loosen one bit.

“You’re awesome…” Little stars flew out of An Xiaxia’s eyes. She tugged at his clothes and asked in her soft voice, “Sheng Yize, will you be my accompanist?”

The fellow was apparently pleased by this and the corners of his mouth turned up in a smile. However, he wouldn’t let go of that nonchalant att.i.tude. “Well, I’ll think about it.”
