Sheng Yize sighed and gave a succinct explanation, which made An Yibei frown as well.

“Is abortion the only option?”

“Not necessarily, but it’s the safest option for her…”

An Yibei pondered a moment before saying, “Talk to her. She’s been a sucker for sweet talk and the soft approach since she was little. Say something nice and take her home.”

Sheng Yize darted him a brooding look and smiled coldly. “Do you need me to set you up with some women?”

An Yibei recognized the sarcasm in his tone right away. After a moment of silence, he said in a low voice, “From now on, she will be my sister and nothing more.”

“I certainly hope so, or…” Sheng Yize stopped mid-sentence, leaving An Yibei to figure out the rest.

He turned around and marched into the flat. An Yibei stood where he was for a long time before he took off his gla.s.ses.

In his brooding black eyes was an intense, complicated feeling that no one could possibly begin to comprehend.

Pus.h.i.+ng the door open, Sheng Yize went up to An Xiaxia and sat down beside her. He called her name gently. “Xiaxia.”

Cheeks puffing up, An Xiaxia glared at him. “Didn’t I tell you to leave? Why are you still here? Mhm…”

An imposing kiss stopped the rest of her words and in the next second, he was on top of her. The scene on the small sofa then turned very hot indeed.

An Xiaxia was gasping for air when the kiss finally ended. Her eyes were watery and she said resentfully, “You’re such a horrible person…”

He would try to solve things with kisses all the time and never once asked if she wanted them.

Sheng Yize touched the corner of her eye with his fingertip, wiping away the tears. “Do you find me that awful?”

An Xiaxia looked away. “Hmph.”

It was supposed to have a success rate of 99.8%, but they just happened to fall into that 0.02%.

He didn’t know whether to laugh or cry.

“I do understand. This is my child as much as it is yours. I’m its father and I probably want a child of our own more than you do.” Sheng Yize chose his words carefully. “But given the current condition of your health, giving birth will be very dangerous. Xiaxia, please listen to me. Let’s get you better first, then we can have our own child. Ok?”

“But I’m in good health! Isn’t all childbirth risky in some way? Momo is in such great shape and He Jiayu is such a capable doctor, but aren’t they worried sick all the time? Are they going to have an abortion because of that, too?” An Xiaxia kicked him. “I’m willing to take the risk for the baby!”

Sheng Yize said nothing.
