Chapter 35 Who Agreed to Your Boarding on Campus?Returning to her apartment, Xia Xiaoluo had mixed feelings. She hated studying. But, after the college started, she would be able to live on campus for five days a week and did not have to see Ling Tianyi’s nasty face. At the thought of this, Xia Xiaoluo felt that the campus life was not that miserable.
Her cellphone rung happily. It was Dou Ya.
“Hey, You stupid Bean Sprouts! You’re finally willing to call me?” asked Xia Xiaoluo.
“Xiaoluo, I have registered for College of Foreign Languages and my student loan has already been approved. Now I made the first call to you as soon as I settled down. But you still complain to me, hum! By the way, how about you? Have you finished your registration?” Dou Ya was in a good mood, for she was finally admitted to her dream college.
“I have also finished my registration and now I am at home. Tomorrow morning, I’ll go to attend the opening ceremony,” said Xia Xiaoluo. But she did not tell Dou Ya the truth. Instead, she only told Dou Ya that it was Xia Youfeng, her father, who stirred his conscience to send her to study at Dwichen’s College. As Dou Ya grew up together with Xia Xiaoluo since childhood. In her words, Dou Ya believed beyond a shadow of a doubt.
“It turns out that you are not on campus! I was thinking that our two colleges are very near, so I want to ask you to hang out,” said Dou Ya dejectedly.
“There are many chances in the future. After colleges start, we can always meet with each other. As for today, you may perhaps get in with your roommates, like having dinner with them.” Actually, Xia Xiaoluo admired Dou Ya for getting excellent academic records and enjoying great popularity. Moreover, Dou Ya now did not have to depend on others for a living anymore. As Dou Ya’s best friend, Xia Xiaoluo truly felt happy for her.
“You lucky devil! Don’t forget me, your poor friend from the shantytown, since you attend the college for the n.o.bility.” In fact, Dou Ya really wanted to visit Xia Xiaoluo’s college, namely, Dwichen’s College, the No. 1 college for the n.o.bility in City A. If she could wander around on its campus, she believed that the visit must be a real eye-opener.
“You’re making fun of me! When did I forget my friends? Let me treat you to a big dinner someday.” Finis.h.i.+ng these words, Xia Xiaoluo said goodbye to Dou Ya.
Today, she also had a very important mission, namely, making supper for Ling Tianyi.
Since Xia Xiaoluo cooked the whole vegetarian dinner for Ling Tianyi with all stuff she had, Ling Tianyi became the greedy guts who went back home for supper every night. When there were fewer affairs of the company to deal with, he would find time to have lunch back at home.
According to Xia Xiaoluo’s thought, she would go to college soon, so she would not spend too much time in the kitchen. Besides, the college provided dorms for students and she could only come back home once a week. Therefore, Xia Xiaoluo planned to cook some more signature dishes today.
Given enough money, Xia Xiaoluo then would be more professional than a chef from a deluxe restaurant. Moreover, she was especially good at cooking Chinese food, such as the stir-fried dish, the fry-after-stewing dish, and stewed dishes, etc. She was really a good, all-around cook.
When Ling Tianyi came back home, there were various dishes on the dining table.
Pork joint stewed with rock sugar, Cola chicken wings, sweet-and-sour spare ribs, stir-fried shrimps with Longjing tea, steamed mandarin fish, and stir-fried peppers with corn…
Ling Tianyi counted, finding there were up to eight vegetarian and meat dishes on the table, among which most were meat ones. “Babe, did anything pleasant happen? Why did you cook so many dishes?”
“More than that! There is one more old duck soup,” said Xia Xiaoluo while putting the soup bowl, an underglaze blue porcelain replica, on the dining table. After that, she quickly touched her ears with her fingers, saying, “It’s so scalding!”
“And fruit hors d’oeuvres after dinner, so we have ten dishes in total today,” grinned Xia Xiaoluo.
“Babe, you haven’t answered my questions. Did anything pleasant happen today to have you make so much delicious food?” Ling Tianyi was really curious, for Xia Xiaoluo usually prepared at most four dishes and a soup for a meal. But dishes today must have been doubled.
“Nothing! I’m just thinking that I will be at home once a week after college starts. Then I’ll not have enough time to cook for you. That’s why I prepared so many dishes tonight so as to satisfy your appet.i.te once.” Xia Xiaoluo said. But Ling Tianyi’s face froze at her words right away.
“Who agreed to your boarding on campus?” asked Ling Tianyi with a fierce voice.
“The college arranged dorms and I had been boarding on campus when I was in high middle school.” Xia Xiaoluo scared most at Ling Tianyi’s icy-cold look. Unconsciously, her att.i.tude was not as easy as it had been just now and became somewhat obsequious.
“To apply for a dorm for you is simply to make it convenient for you to have a good rest on campus at noon, instead of giving you a chance to live there permanently.” Ling Tianyi would never agree to Xia Xiaoluo’s boarding on campus, for he found it hard not to have the delicious food and he found it even harder not to exercise his rights as a husband at night.
“Keep it in mind, do not wander after your cla.s.ses are over. Come back home quickly and do the cooking for me. You hear me?” Ling Tianyi ordered. Xia Xiaoluo nodded, thinking to herself that she would not have prepared such a big dinner if she had known what Ling Tianyi said.
Ling Tianyi did not allow Xia Xiaoluo to board on campus, but he knew that his little woman must pay more attention to her study after college starts. Hence, he would not possibly let her pa.s.s on the last night before college.
For the whole night, Ling Tianyi was caught up in the whirlwind of love, keeping in great pa.s.sion for Xia Xiaoluo until she was exhausted and fell asleep.
On the next morning, while Xia Xiaoluo was still sound asleep like a sleeping piggy, Ling Tianyi dragged her out of her quilt. He made her hurry to take a taxi to her college, not permitting her to be late for even only one minute.
Xia Xiaoluo, however, thought that it was too expensive to take a taxi. In the spirits of diligence and thrift, therefore, she took Bus Route 303, which could take her directly to Dwichen’s College. But the name of the station at which she should get off was City A College of Foreign Languages, which was near Dwichen’s College. If she got off at this station, she could reach her college soon.
Xia Xiaoluo arrived at the gate of Dwichen’s College by bus smoothly. The opening ceremony was the most solemn event in Dwichen’s College each semester and every student must attend. Students of this college were commonly from rich and powerful families and therefore nearly everyone had a luxury car. At the gate of the college, hence, there were several owners of luxury cars quarrelling over the problem that who should make way.
These students had modified their luxury cars, such as a Lamborghini, a Maybach, and a Ferrari, etc. None of them was willing to yield, thus soon causing the gate of the college hemmed in. These cars were all luxury cars and none of them were willing to compromise.
Xia Xiaoluo could never bear these dandies. In her eyes, they were too arrogant or c.o.c.ky simply because they were patronized by their powerful families. Despite that she married the rich, she herself was just a poor girl.
Perhaps out of the sense of inferiority, Xia Xiaoluo just wanted to bypa.s.s the quarrelling crowd here and slipped away to go to the auditorium for the opening ceremony.
“Look! Quickly! It’s Ouyang Ziqian!”
“Wow, he is so handsome!”
“Ouyang Ziqian is really the No.1 good-looking student of Dwichen’s College.”
“He must be more than 180 centimeters high.”
“He is the fas.h.i.+on. He looks perfect from all angles!”
Xia Xiaoluo looked ahead following other students’ eyesight, finding a male student with a slightly somber expression walking towards the gate of the college. He exhibited outstanding qualities with flyaway but exquisite short hair and deep eyes, embedding the depth and maturity that did not conform to his age.
Although Xia Xiaoluo did not like those dandies from rich families, she did not feel repulsion to this seemingly indifferent young man. It was not owing to his handsome look nor his wealth, but because he was willing to give up his luxury car and walk to the campus on foot.
In spite of giving up his car, his behavior of walking to the campus had reflected a sense of modest luxury in him and held all the attention, especially that of young girls who were in the age pursuing their first bloom of love.
Finding Xia Xiaoluo was also walking like him, Ouyang Ziqian gave her a nod, a faint smile flickering across his face. And Xia Xiaoluo nodded back to him and returned a smile, too. Ouyang Ziqian was slightly moved in his heart by her pretty, clean and clear smile. Besides, she did not wear any cosmetics at all, totally different from those girls he met before at Dwichen’s College.
Ouyang Ziqian and Xia Xiaoluo had a tacit greeting to each other. Although they had good opinions from each other, the two did not speak to each other after all. They went separate ways and could not see each other soon.
The auditorium of Dwichen’s College was extremely luxurious and tremendous, having a seating capacity of up to 10,000 spectators. Therefore, there were enough seats for more than 8,000 teachers and students attending this ceremony.
Xia Xiaoluo met Xia Jingru in the auditorium, who wore a brand skirt with her hair specially designed. She did so in order to attract the attention of outstanding young men at the opening ceremony.
Regardless of what her parents had urged her, Xia Jingru could not control her mouth, trying her best to mock and made jibes at Xia Xiaoluo, saying, “Cinderella, look at you, miserable and shabby. An empty sack cannot stand up still. You’re really past hope.”
“Ouch! It hurts!” Xia Xiaoluo shouted when a severe pain occurred to her foot. One of her feet in canvas shoes was trampled on by Xia Jingru with her thin heels.
Xia Xiaoluo instinctively gave her a push with all her might, causing Xia Jingru to lose her balance. She staggered and fell backward, throwing herself right into the arms of a young man who was up to 190 centimeters tall.
Wearing a red jersey, the same as Jordan’s, the young man spoke to the woman leaning on his chest with a cynical tone, “Junior sister schoolmate, don’t take me as your flesh cus.h.i.+on, will you?”
“Err…I am so sorry!” Xia Jingru hastily stood up, habitually straightening her clothing with every hair in place.
After she smartened up, Xia Jingru raised her head and looked at the 190-centimeter-tall man directly. Her heart was beating fast in a flash and her face could not help reddening.
He was so handsome! He was just her Mr. Right in her heart!
“Pardon me!” The tall man pushed away Xia Jingru, who stood in the way, and he also kicked away Xia Xiaoluo, who was rubbing her foot sitting on the ground.
The tall man, named Fang Ruichen, was the heir of Fang Group and also the son of one of the shareholders of the college. He was good-looking and fond of playing basketball. His favorite basketball star was Jordan.
Xia Jingru fixed her eyes on Fang Ruichen. At this moment, she fell in love. Immediately, she took a seat that was nearest to Fang Ruichen’s, hoping to arouse any attention from him.
After about half an hour, the opening ceremony finally began.
Sitting in the corner, Xia Xiaoluo was bored stiff, surfing the Internet with the smartphone brought for her by Ling Tianyi. She was really not willing to listen to those high-sounding words given by important persons on stage one after another.
“Now, let’s welcome Ouyang Ziqian, the student representative.”
After this introduction, all the audience were incredibly excited. Shocked by the sudden applause and screams, Xia Xiaoluo immediately looked around. At this moment, the young man from a wealthy family, whom she met at the gate of the college and whom she was unexpectedly not sick of, had already stepped on stage.
