"NO! She only loved me! But then everything changed when Jacob came in her life. I should have killed him before they met. I regret killing him after she got pregnant with his child." David gritted his teeth. A vein on his forehead became clearly visible which showed how mad he got.

Alexander could no longer hold his temper. His nails dug deep into his palms. But it was not the right time to teach him a lesson, not when he is not in his own land. If he were to handle David in Brookville, the man would have been dead by now. Revenge was not what Alexander wanted. The loss of the loved ones and the emotional trauma he had been through when he lost his one last so called family member... Despite being the great king of all times, these incidents and the loss of the loved ones made him what he is now. The ultimate goal for him was to be powerful. This is what he had learnt from his late father. The dead father who once told him that his mother was the greatest warrior of all times, from that very day the little Alex had set his goal to be like his mother. He admired his mother more than his father. The loss of his mother gave him the strength to become something in life. That something he wished for when he was a small kid back then, gave him everything in his life. The motherly loved deprived kid had built walls around him. But the wall got cracked when he had loved someone for the first time. The lowly creature, human who was of no match with the great king was able to melt the cold heart of his. But again, she was gone and he wasn't there to say her goodbye... for one last time.
All these thoughts swirled up in Alexander's mind. He had enough.
"How did you kill him?" Aexander couldn't help but ask.
"HAHA! You really want to know huh? Really want to know?" David started behaving like a maniac.
Alexander ignored his actions and calmly waited for his answer.
"I killed him. I really did kill him... but I am not going to say!" David's expressions completely changed from a mad person to a serious face.
Deep inside David regretted his actions. He desperately wanted to stay with Emilia but her continuous rejections made him heart broken deep within. Unrequited love can be really dangerous. It can either help you move on in your life or simply be the reason for your life's destruction dragging other innocents with you... the latter part is what happened with David. He was so focused on getting Emilia back that he destroyed everything that posed as hurdles on his journey to love.
Gerard couldn't help but sigh. This man was not easy to handle despite the efforts he made to make him confess his crimes. He was still innocent according to the law. The council wanted more evidences but David hadn't left any trace behind. The man behind the ma.s.sacre is still unknown but all knew that it was David but the council needed evidence to imprison him or worse, torture him to death.
Alexander had one thing in his mind. How to get hold of that thing which would help him find a solid proof. For that he needed Gruzus.

Meanwhile, Margaret was busy sewing her torn white gown. The gown was once pretty when she had it as a gift from her father. She got the gown two years back as her birthday present but she still used to wear it because it was much more comfortable than her other clothes. She grew significantly tall in two years but the gown still fitted her perfectly. It was her favourite night dress.
She was engrossed in st.i.tching the gown when she heard the door being knocked. Keeping the needle carefully in the box, she quickly ran towards the door and opened it.
"Father! How are you here today? Do you need anything?" she stepped aside to let Corbette in.
"One question at a time, Margaret." Corbette sat on the chair close to the window.
"What were you doing?" he looked at the worn out gown he gifted two years back.
"It still fits you?" he was amazed.
"Ah... yes? It is my favourite night dress! The material is so soft. But it got some holes so I was st.i.tching those holes up." she spoke as she carefully started sewing the holes again.
"You can discard it. I can always get one for you!" Corbette couldn't help but smile at his little daughter who was so matured unlike Caroline.
"Really!?" Margaret's eyes qucikly darted at Corbette the moment she heard that she would get one similar dress. After all she was also a child.
"Why not? Haha! You could've just asked me, Margaret."
"It's fine. I can still wear it." Margaret's face broke into a gentle smile. She had previously blurted out the words without thinking but now as she thought that the gown could cost her father more... she killed her desire to own one.
They both talked for an hour. They laughed and made fun of each other. Corbette laughed so hard that he had to hold his stomach and pinch his cheeks. Margaret started to cry while laughing on the jokes her father made on Caroline and her step-mother. At times she would think of controlling herself but couldn't help.
"Ah... my stomach!" Corbette took deep breaths and started laughing again. Looking at his watch he noticed that he was already half past nine.
"You should sleep now, Margaret. See you tomorrow." He stood up from the chair and patted Margaret's head.

"Good night." he started heading towards the door.
"Father... I want to ask you something." Margaret stood up, keeping the needle back in the box.
"Yes, what is it?" Corbette turned around.
"Who am I, Dad?" she tried to recall everything but she could hardly remember anything now.
Cobette stood still and spoke nothing. He stared at the locket.
