August 2035 London (?)

In an abandoned looking corner of London, there was none other than Kogami Yori perched on the rooftop, rifle in hand.

'There is a line you should never cross.'

Yori recalled one of her first few conversations with Kasumi when she first became a Yankee.

The girl had strictly told her ' Why do you think everyone can become so serious and put there all to it every day? Yes, a person's will is a part of it. But the key part is because everyone knows that it will end one day. That eventually that there long struggles and suffering will come to an end. Darkness will always surround us; that's something that cannot change. But it doesn't mean we cannot take another path. However, if you cross the line that Yankees should cross. You will no longer have that alternative. They'll make you live a life that's shrouded in complete darkness and a blood-stained world'.

Back then although she didn't understand it very well, Yori thought it was better to listen to the girl's words.

Her thoughts broke off upon when she spotted movement. She spied from a nearby building rooftop. Her target is a member of the Yamamoto family. Yori knew that doing this would go against that person's orders. However, she didn't have time to be patient.

Click.

Yori pulled the trigger.

Seconds later she hears screams.

Moments later thousands of men rushed out.

Minutes after they came out, they pointed in the building's direction she was in, ah they caught her already.

There's no escape from the rooftop. But just as Yori was about to let that fate pa.s.s her, a hooded figure grabbed hold of her hand and led her away down what looked like another stairway. This scent and temperature is....nostalgic.

...…

She knew this person.

Somebody she looked up to.

This familiar scent can only belong to one person. Yori never understood it though, why he felt the need to watch over her. Even when she went to a separate school from him, every single time she was in a bind someone would mysteriously solve the problems for her.

Huan sighed, "I thought I'd be able to lead you to safety and then go about peacefully when your not looking," Huan paused and reached over to pick up the cloak that was on the ground. He fingers the material in his hands for a few minutes before he continued, "Seems like I took a wrong turn in my calculations. There has already been a pattern for that. Especially when it concerns you, Kogami Yori."

Yori sighed, "I'm sorry for causing you problems."

The man wore his signature goofy grin, "Don't mind, don't mind. Anyhow, let's get going. You have the compet.i.tion today."

The compet.i.tion?

After what she did? Does she even have the right to compete after she stained her hands with blood? Yori remained unmoved as Huan started to walk away, clearly expecting her to follow. But she didn't. After a few seconds Huan realized and turned to her. He frowned, "Yori-chan?"

"I can't...I just.."

What did she do just now? Why did she leave the compet.i.tion venue to do something like this? Yori knew it was a trap. Isn't it a coincidence that she received a message like this on the very day of the compet.i.tion? It screamed shady and had the words set up written all over it. Her thoughts broke off when she felt Human walk towards her until he stood right in front of her. He reached over and patted her hair.

"You don't change. I thought I helped heal your pain, and that's why I crossed the mission as complete. But aren't you suffering even more now?"

"Sorry."

Huan shook his head, "I guess no matter what a person does to help another person. It's no good unless that person confronts their own fears and darkness themselves."

She truly is grateful towards this person. During the darkest and bleakest point in her life, he helped her out.

Many people a.s.sumed that she fell in love with him. But Yori never entertained that idea not even for a single moment. Why would she? He saved her life and helped her build a better life for herself. She is not the greedy type.

A person like her is not capable of feeling 'love' but she does have somebody she respects greatly.

"I shouldn't have come here," Yori kept her gaze down on the ground. She spotted a few pebbles at her feet and continued to repeat these words. "I knew it was a setup. But when I heard the words 'Yamamoto' family, I came without a second thought."

Yes, part of the reason why she came here in the first place is because she heard the name of the target. If it were anybody else, Yori knew she would have thought more rationally. However, when she saw the name Yamamoto on her phone - she recalled the name of the ringleader of the ones who caused Lila to suffer before. Yori didn't have to research to know they are the same people. While she only harmed a family member or distant relative and not the primary target. That didn't matter at all to her.
