Li Xiuying indicated for Wu Quon to enter the theater: "Scrub up." She then faced Mao Yi Hui again.

Li Xiuiyng: "Apologies, you were timetabled in error."

Mao Yi Hui: "What do you mean Dr Li? I spoke to Jiang Huan and she a.s.sured me that I would be fine to a.s.sist you in theaters today. She hasn't contacted me to say otherwise." Actually, Jiang Huan had contacted Mao Yi Hui via voicemail, messaging and email; he just had no qualms about throwing her under the bus.

Li Xiuying: "Only 1 resident today." Jiang Huan is more incompetent than had initially thought.

Mao Yi Hui: "I'll tell the other resident to leave then."

Li Xiuying frown deepened this person was being deliberately obtuse. She spoke coldly: "No. He will stay."

Mao Yi Hui looked at Li Xiuying incredulously: "Wait Dr Li let me understand this. Are you saying that you will allow the first year resident to stay but you're asking me; a third year surgical resident who is interested in upper GI surgery to leave?"

Li Xiuying nodded.

Mao Yi Hui: "This must be your idea of a joke right? That doesn't even make sense. Doesn't my seniority count for anything?" Is this woman actually daring to reject him?

Mao Yi Hui suddenly had an epiphany: "Oh I get it. You don't know who I am. And you must not know who my father is right? Let me tell you, my father is on the board of directors. He gives generous yearly donations to this hospital in fact there's even a cardiology suite named after him. Now that you know who I am, I think we will be able to proceed smoothly. I will go and tell that other guy to leave. I look forward to working with you today Dr Li." He gave a condescending smile to Dr Li before gesturing for her to enter the theater first.

Li Xiuying quirk a brow on hearing Mao Yi Hui's words: "No" She was thinking about the connections of Jiang Huan's handler and Unity hospital; clearly they ran deep if he had ties with one of the directors of Unity hospital.

A few staff members were now standing around and watching the scene unfold with rapt interest.

Mao Yi Hui smirk disappeared: "What? No? Were you not listening to me a moment ago? My father is on the board of directors. You know what my throat is dry from talking to you so much. I'll call my Father right now." He wanted to put Li Xiuiyng in her place; she was blatantly disrespecting him on his own turf. The only reason why she hadn't lost her job already was because he still had uses for her. Having experience with her would greatly enhance his portfolio. So he had to put her in her place now in order for her to be more well behaved in the future.

Mao Yi Hui began tapping away at his phone intending to talk to his father.

Li Xiuying took out her phone and scrolled to Elder Qin's phone number: 'Who doesn't know someone on the board of directors?'

She waited and listened to the phone ringing.

Little 4th: "h.e.l.lo."

Li Xiuying was surprised to hear Little 4th's voice: "Little 4th?"

Little 4th's voice was somber: "Yes."

Li Xiuying could sense Little 4th was upset with her, she realized that she had been quite negligent. She tried to placate him:"Little 4th are you free this weekend? Why don't we go to the park?"

The staff members that heard Li Xiuying on the phone were confused 'Why is Dr Li talking about the park? Why does she look oddly happy? Where's the blood shed? Where's the drama and destruction?! Wasn't she calling for reinforcements?'

Little 4th voice radiated happiness and excitement: "Really?! What time? What day? Which park? Can we have a picnic? Is it just you and me?"

Li Xiuiyng smiled a little: "Surprise."

Little 4th: "Okay Big sister YingYing you can't forget me like you did the last few days. I was waiting all this time for you. I thought you had forgotten all about me. I was so worried when I didn't even receive a single small, message." He sounded like an abandoned little wife complaining.

Li Xiuying: "Sorry."

Little 4th: "Big sister YingYing you can't forget about me in the future okay? Oh I'll make sure I tell my mommy to get me a phone today. You'll be able to reach me directly from now on and I can message you anytime too. We can even video chat and send voice notes and..."

Li Xiuying gently interrupted little 4th: "That's a great idea. Little 4th is your father there? I have some important business to discuss." Although she wanted to talk to Little 4th a little more; time was tight right now.

Little 4th: "Daddy forgot his phone at home today. Are you in trouble? Do you need me? I can miss school. I can give the phone to mommy?... Hey! Why did ..."

Li Xiuying looked at her screen to see if the line had disconnected. Li Xiuying: "h.e.l.lo. h.e.l.lo?"

She then heard a deep and rich voice respond: "h.e.l.lo"

Li Xiuying instantly recognized that it was Qin Song.

Li Xiuying: "h.e.l.lo. Mr Song I have an issue with Mao Yi Hui. He.."

Qin Song cut her off abruptly: "Give me 5 minutes." He then hung up.

Li Xiuying stared at her phone screen in confusion. She wanted to explain the situation. She thought to herself 'he's such a strange man.' Li Xiuying didn't realize that she was actually the one behaving strangely after-all usually she wouldn't even try to explain herself to anyone.

Mao Yi Hui had also finished his call and held out his phone in front of him so Li Xiuying could talk to his father.

Li Xiuying looked at the phone coldly and remained still.

Mao Yi Hui took back the phone: "h.e.l.lo father she won't even... h.e.l.lo dad.. h.e.l.lo are you still there?"

He looked at the screen, the call was still connected: "h.e.l.lo?" He looked at his phone again and pressed the speaker. "h.e.l.lo Father?" He then saw the call had ended.

He tried to call his father back but the line was busy. 'Maybe he's trying to call me at the same time. I'll wait for his call to connect.'

Li Xiuying looked at Mao Yi Hui coldly, whilst he looked at her with a condescending smirk.

The other staff members that were around had clearly forgotten they were actually meant to be working not standing around to watch a modern day showdown.

Several minutes had pa.s.sed by when Mao Yi Hui's phone started ringing again.

Mao Yi Hui: "h.e.l.lo father I'll pa.s.s the phone over to..."

Elder Mao: "You idiot what have you done? You didn't tell me that it was The Dr Li Xiuying that you were arguing with! Has your brain been filled with water?! Immediately apologize to her now and I'll deal with you when you get home."

Mao Yi Hui paled a little: "But father I did say that it was Li Xiuying. Why do I have to do that when she's in the wrong? In fact she..."

Elder Mao: "But your stupid head! Stop speaking nonsense do you think I've gone senile and that I can't remember what you've just spoken to me about. Listen to what I'm telling you, no more of your nonsense. Hand the phone over to Dr Li."

Mao Yi Hui looked incredibly lost as he again held his phone out for Li Xiuying.

Li Xiuying took the phone this time and put it to her ear: "h.e.l.lo. Mmm. Okay. Bye." She listened as Mao Yi Hui's father spoke for 2 minutes. She responded curtly.

She handed the phone back to Mao Yi Hui.

Li Xiuying looked around at the audience: "Return to work."

Everyone quickly went on their way a little disappointed at having not been able to watch the ending of the drama.

When everyone left Li Xiuying faced Mao Yi Hui. She took a step towards him and the temperature around them seemed to drop: "Do you know who I am? I'm your senior and as for who you are you've made it abundantly clear that you are a spoiled, condescending, disrespectful man who uses his background and father's t.i.tle to get his way. It is you who does not seem to understand the implication of seniority. I bet you've pulled this little stunt numerous times when you didn't get your way. So both your father and I think that your behavior needs to change. In fact I don't think that your father will be aiding you in your tyrannical and selfish actions in the future. I'll also be having a word with your supervisor and your team so they can monitor you and help ensure that you stay in line."

Mao Yi Hui just looked at Li Xiuiyng in a disgusted manner. 'How can this woman stand their and slate me? How does she even have the audacity to pretend to be so moral when she's going to humiliate me in front of my team. If she was actually a good person she would just let it go.'

Li Xiuying sauntered away, she spoke over her shoulder as she pa.s.sed Mao Yi Hui: "I will be filling a complaint against you for your ill-mannered behavior towards me today. I'll make sure it goes into your record, it can serve as a reminder for you."

Mao Yi Hui face dropped slightly: "Why are you trying to ruin my career?! All I did today was ask to be in theaters with you! Why do you have to take it so far and put a black mark in my permanent record." Usually a complaint wouldn't carry many ramifications maybe a simple slap on the wrist. However if a highly renowned surgeon complained; who wouldn't pay attention?
