Granting You A Second Life 142 I Don't Know, But I'm Going To Find Ou

The journalist's that had quietened down started up again. 

Chen Wei ignored the look on everyone's face as he sent a message [Union Medical Centre, 1 hour]. 'All the pins are set, just need to knock them down.' 

Chen Wei turned his gaze to another loose end that needed to be taken care of; Yang Zian.

Just as Chen Wei was about to speak there was a heavy knock at the door. 

Police officer: "Dr Yang Zian this is the police. We are here to arrest you for a number of offenses including conspiracy to murder, conspiracy to cause grievous bodily harm, embezzling funds and tax fraud. Please come out peacefully."

Yang Zian looked around at everyone and stood up. He straightened his back and opened the door. 

Numerous flashes went off. 

The police officer said: "You will be taken to the station and will be questioned thoroughly. You will answer the investigator's questions truthfully. You have the right to refuse to answer any questions that are irrelevant to the charges against you."

Another officer reached for his cuffs and pulled Yang Zian's arms behind his back and cuffed him.

Lawyer 1 followed Yang Zian: "Is that really necessary when Dr Yang Zian is complying with instructions?" He purposefully did not refer to him as his client. 

The police officer: "Sorry, I'm just following orders." The chief had given specific orders on how to handle this situation. He was told not to handcuff Yang Zian arms from the front or allow the cuffs to be covered in any way. He was also given orders to wait to apprehend the a.s.sailant and then walk him out slowly to the police car. 

Chen Wei and lawyer 2 walked out of the room.

The journalists went into a frenzy and started hurling questions at Yang Zian and some even approached Chen Wei. Some journalists followed Yang Zia and the police whilst others stayed behind.

"Dr Chen Wei, did you know everything that Yang Zian was doing?"

"Dr Chen what do you have to say regarding the allegations against Yang Zian?"

"Chen Wei, what were you and Yang Zian discussing for so long? Are you planning to make him your scapegoat in order to maintain Emerald hospital's reputation?"

Chen Wei subtely nodded for lawyer 2 to go forward.

Lawyer 2: "Dear journalist friends. Please cam down, My client Dr Chen Wei will issue a statement regarding the situation."

The journalists stretched out their microphones and dictation devices.

Chen Wei then stepped forward: "At Emerald hospital, we have always put the patient first. The patient's health, well being and safety help to inform our policies, training, and management. Here at Emerald hospital, our staff have always conducted themselves with integrity and respect, anyone who does not do so is not truly a part of the Emerald hospital family. We will aid the side of justice and will help the police and medical council with their investigation in any way we can. Additionally, we will be launching our own internal investigation. I feel that this situation will serve as a lesson to all staff, not just those at Emerald hospital but all hospitals across the country that they should remain vigilant. "

Chen Wei was being ambiguous about Yang Zian's situation because he was leaving a way out for himself. If Yang Zian was found guilty he was not a real part of 'the family. If Yang Zian is found innocent then Chen Wei had not openly condemned and abandoned an innocent employee; so he still appeared magnanimous. Also, he was giving a warning to the person behind this to watch their back. 

Chen Wei paused before continuing: "I'm afraid I will have to ask you all to please leave this area. Clinics still have to run and many unwell people and their families are waiting anxiously to be seen. I'm sure that all of you will respect our patients." 

The security guards surrounded the group which was now smaller and easily managed, they began ushering them out of the area. 

Chen Wei faced his patients in the waiting room: "I apologize for the scene which has unfolded and the disruption it has caused all of you. I hope you can all be a little more patient with us, as we endeavor to have you seen by our best doctors. Thank you for waiting."

Chen Wei and his lawyer then walked away. He waited until they were out of earshot: "The middle-aged journalist with the gla.s.ses and odd eyebrows was planted. He knows something."

The lawyer frowned and nodded. "Who is behind this?"

Chen Wei grinned evilly: "I don't know, but I'm going to find out."

Outside the hospital, the police were pus.h.i.+ng Yang Zian into the car. 

Lawyer 1 shouted: "I'll meet you at the station. Don't say anything at all until I get there." He quickly made his way to his car in the parking lot. 

The police officer closed the door and slipped into the front pa.s.senger seat. 

Some journalists put their cameras close to the window trying to get more photos. There were members of public standing and whispering to each other as they watched Yang Zian being hauled away.

Yang Zian looked down at his cuff hands and remained silent. He thought to himself 'I'm n.o.body's sacrifice.'

He felt that Chen Wei has less power than he expected. Chen Wei had a way with words and had the ability to invert black into white. However, what would have been more impressive would have been if he could avoid all damage in the first place. 

He recalled Chen Wei's speech about following the path he had set and sneered 'Prosper my a**."

Unity hospital 1:50 pm

Li Xiuying was happy to finally leave the emergency department. She was thankful that she was in theaters for the rest of the week. 

Li Xiuying finished changing and began heading to Qin Jingfei's office.

She knocked on the door and waited for a response.

Qin Song: "Come in."

Li Xiuying entered and looked around the room. She spotted Qin Song on one of the sofas and was bowled over by his looks once again. Qin Song was wearing a perfectly fitted three-piece navy tweed suit. The b.u.t.tons of his jacket were undone revealing his tweed waistcoat and highlighting his waist. He was wearing dark brown leather brogues. His hair was parted to one side and it had soft waves through it. Even his skin appeared as if it was brighter and glowing.

Li Xiuying thought 'Perhaps his handsomeness increased as his annoyingness decreased.'

Li Xuiying stared at him the same way she had when they had first met. She numbly sat down opposite Qin Song. She was appreciating his beauty. 

Qin Song cleared his throat. This time he didn't reprimand her, in fact, he would allow her to continue looking without interruption if he didn't have somewhere to be. He had subconsciously put in a little more effort than usual with regards to his appearance. For some reason, he felt that all his suits just didn't look right on him this morning. He even made an appointment with his tailor to get more suits made.

Li Xiuying woke from her daze: "Yes?"

Qin Song: "Shall we get started with the meeting?"

Li Xiuying: "Okay."

Qin Song: "I'm afraid this meeting will have to be brief today. I have another meeting to attend after this one." He had 3 meetings scheduled, firstly with the doctors who were Yang Zian's victims, secondly with Shen Mengyao and the police chief, lastly with the Zhou family. 

Li Xiuying: "That's fine."

Qin Song: "We have a preliminary set of dates for the sessions. The first of which is the introduction." He smoothly pa.s.sed Li Xiuying the tablet next to him.

Li Xiuying went to grab the tablet and accidentally brushed her gloved fingers on Qin Song's.

Li Xiuiyng flinched a little and pulled the tablet quickly towards her. She looked at Qin Song's face and saw that he didn't have any reaction.

Qin Song sat back in his chair: "If you have a look at the dates."

Li Xiuying sat back subconsciously creating more distance between herself and Qin Song.

She took out her phone and opened the calendar and her rota to compare them to the provisional dates. 

Qin Song glanced at Li Xiuying hands. She was wearing silk gloves. He thought to himself 'I wonder if her skin is as smooth as her gloves.' He then shook his head slightly as if he wanted to shake the thought from his mind entirely.
