Walking over to set the bags on her desk, Tobias unpacked the containers of food to set them out on the table in the office.
Despite her dislike for sharing, Mimi invited Emilia to eat especially considering the girl's pale complexion.
"By the way, the one you should thank is Tobias. He was the one who caught you when you fainted." Mimi said while biting into her burger.
Emilia glanced up from her food to look across from her, only to freeze up and look back down, her body feeling cold inside.
No way…
The one who saved her was Tobias Itou? That terrifying man that was glaring at her murderously when he entered?!
"T…Thank you." Emilia stuttered.
In response, the man merely grunted and bit into his sandwich – not once glancing in her direction. If it hadn't been for Mimi's words, Emilia would have thought Tobias held killing intentions towards her.
Looking up once more, Emilia stared at the large man eating his food with a silent expression. His broad shoulders hunched over in the considerably cramped seat he sat in while his black, dull eyes stared at the food in front of him.
Sensing a gaze on him, Tobias looks up from his food to stare at Emilia who s.h.i.+vered and quickly averted his dark eyes. Confused, Tobias arched a brow but decided to ignore the young girl and pick up a fry.
"Here."
Placing the fry in front of Mimi, the silent man who hadn't spoken since he arrived, uttered a single word, yet it was filled with so much power and dominance Emilia felt her hands holding her food tremble.
This man was too scary, ah!
Mimi, not noticing Emilia's reaction, smiled while leaning over to munch on the fry in Tobias's hand. Biting into the fry, Mimi continued eating as if nothing happened and took another bite into her burger.
Drinking his water, Tobias reached for another fry and placed it in front of Mimi's face.
Once again, Mimi chomped down on the fry and continued on with her eating. Emilia, sitting on the side watched the two's strange yet seemingly normal interactions in awe.
She couldn't help but think the two looked like a couple.
Once that thought entered her mind, she inwardly shook her head at such odd thoughts. Both were men and had a significant age difference.
Besides…
Emilia looked over in Mimi's direction. The boy's fair complexion was more flawless than most people she had met. His long lashes fluttered while his perfectly shaped rosy lips parted to take a bite of the food in front of him. Even while eating, the aura around him was graceful and celestial.
Looking away hastily, Emilia couldn't contain the blush in her cheeks. Emilia was unaware that her actions, from the beginning, were being observed by Tobias who glanced at Emilia and then Mimi.
His expression remained indifferent but inwardly he couldn't help but shake his head.
Everywhere she went she captured the attention of many. This girl was a bigger handful than he thought…
After the three had finished lunch, Mimi and Tobias immediately discussed business causing Emilia to sit in the corner with her head lowered.
Hearing the two talk seriously and go over a set of doc.u.ments, Emilia couldn't help but feel awkward.
Andras, he was the same age as her, possibly even by a year younger, and he was able to achieve so much. Who knew the achievements he would make in a few more years.
He'd be a legend, on the top with the rest of highly achieved businessmen.
Thinking this, Emilia became even more silent.
"Ms. Yimo, your ride is here."
"Huh?" Confused, Emilia looked up to see Mimi whose eyes remained on the papers in her hand.
"I called for your driver to take you home for the day."
"What…you mean I'm…"
"Ms. Yimo, before you go misinterpreting everything," Mimi cut her off, her gaze resting on Emilia. "You're not fired. Your work for today will be filled in by another employee. Tomorrow you will return back to work, as of now, you're to go home and rest."
"But…"
"Need I remind you of my previous words? An employee who doesn't put their well-being first is no use to me. Go home, rest, and recharge yourself for work tomorrow."
Without allowing Emilia to speak, Mimi reaches for the phone beside her and dials a number.
"Jean, please escort Ms. Yimo downstairs. Make sure she gets in the care safely, thank you."
Hanging up the phone Mimi looks back down at the files in her hand and continues to read them with Tobias who silently sat and scribbled something down.
In less than a minute, Jean came into the office to escort Emilia down. Not saying a word, Emilia stood up from her seat and walked out.
Before she left, Emilia turned around and bowed lowly.
"Thank you."
Mimi's eyes never strained from her papers as she released a light hum in response. Smiling lightly, Emilia lowers her head and walks out with Jean behind her.
With just the two left in the room, Tobias set down the papers in his hand and looked at Mimi. Propping his chin with his fist, Tobias silently observed the girl's expression – an amused light shown in his eyes.
Sensing his gaze, Mimi looks up to see the handsome man staring at her intently.
"Is something wrong?"
"You care for her."
Confused, Mimi's brows furrowed deeply, a slight frown settling on her lips.
"I don't."
"En, you do. Otherwise, why would you be so concerned for her?"
"I was merely treating her how I would treat any of my employees if they acted the way she did. Which was foolish of her to do."
Recalling Emilia resting on Mimi's lap and the dark expression on Mimi's face when the girl fainted, Tobias held back a smile.
Releasing a deep chuckle, Tobias reaches his hand out to ruffle the girl's short hair.
"It's alright to care."
Fluttering her lashes, Mimi's lowered eyes glanced up to stare deeply into the man's black eyes. His large hand caressing her head became even softer once she stared at him, his touches delicate as if she was a fragile being.
"It's okay." Tobias hoa.r.s.ely whispered.
Pursing her lips and furrowing her eyebrows, Mimi's eyes avert Tobias's, the light in them slowly fading. "I don't care. I don't care for anyone..."
Although her last words were muttered Tobias, nonetheless, heard her clearly. His movements stopped while his eyes darkened. Tobias's expression was dull while his hand resting on her head lowered slowly, retracting back to his side.
The air around the two became stiff and silent, none looking the other in the eye – both lost in their own thoughts.
After a few minutes, did Tobias break the silence by standing up from his seat.
"I'm going to get some coffee. Do you want anything?"
"Ah, milk tea please." Mimi softly responded.
Tobias nodded and walked toward the door. Mimi followed the man's figure as he walked, her expression was unreadable.
"And a m.u.f.fin, blueberry, please! I'm so famished." Mimi whined.
Halting his steps, Tobias turned to look at the girl with arched brows.
Hadn't she just eaten lunch not too long ago?
Already predicting his thoughts, Mimi puckered her rosy lips. Noting her expression, Tobias chuckled.
"Alright, I'll be back."
"En, you're the best Tobias!"
Smiling, Tobias left Mimi's office in silence. Once inside the elevator had the man's expression changed from indifferent to dark and chilly.
Clenching his fists to his side, Tobias closed his eyes tightly. Opening them to reveal his dark, chilling eyes, Tobias sighed.
He'll be patient and wait for her to open up. No matter what she said, he knew he couldn't get too hurt. After all, no one was hurting more than her.
"I'll be patient."
