Two Boeing CH-47 Chinook arrived at the campground early in the morning escorted by three Black Hawk helicopters.
They took over the two hundred survivors that they rescued on their way and flew them back towards Buxworth Village. Leo instructed the soldiers to care and prepare a sumptuous meal for the survivors when they got back and have them help around the construction and other things that requires manpower back at the village.
Leo also found out from them that they met a flock of mutated birds that tried to attack them on the way here but the soldiers on the Black Hawk's luckily killed them all before they could even get near them.
Leo breathed a sigh of relief hearing that nothing bad happened to them. After all, meeting mutated birds while flying in the air is bad news and this is also the reason why Leo specifically only had soldiers who are calm and have superb accuracy on hitting fast moving targets, ride on the choppers.
Leo then went out of his tent dressed in a casual outfit as he started clapping and yelling, "Alright! Pack up! We'll move out in ten minutes!"
The soldiers immediately scurried to work as they hastily packed the things that were used onto the back of the trucks they looted along the road.
Ten minutes later.
They finally finished packing all of the things from the campground as they finally resumed their journey on the road.
*Tap* *Tap* *Tap* *Tap* *Tap*
Leo was happily tapping at the dashboard in front of him as he hummed along the music of "Livin like a prayer" from inside the vehicle.
"Woah, we're halfway there. Woah, livin' on a prayer!"
"Take my hand, we'll make it I swear!"
"Woah, livin' on a prayer!"
"Livin' on a prayer!"
Leo was singing on top of his voice like he doesn't even care if he attracts more additional trouble with how noisy their group already is.
But what Leo didn't know is that his singing is so bad that it's irritating the ears of the driver who was nearest to him. His voice literally isn't going with the tune of the song so the soldiers who can hear him just endured it as they didn't want to be looked in a bad light by the commander.
"Leo! Shut up!"
Suddenly, the irritated voice of a woman yelled from the back of the car.
"What? I was just singing" Leo turned his head around and said to Luna who is glaring at him with that angry look in her eyes.
"You're out of tune! So don't freaking sing! My ears can't f*cking handle it anymore!" Luna snorted angrily.
"Alright, alright" Leo said while rubbing his nose, feeling quite embarra.s.s.
The group didn't make another stop as they just bulldozed through the road as they headed towards the Town of Chesterfield that was actually supposed to be their first stop through their journey.
Leo also had some change of plans that instead of directly heading towards London through travelling on land. They would instead occupy one of the main cities here and establish another force while more reinforcements would come from the main camp through the air.
And their goal is..
Occupying Cambridge, a city on the River Cam in eastern England, home to the prestigious University of Cambridge, dating to 1209.
Leo wanted that city to be their springboard in attacking the main capital just like how America wanted to use Hawaii as a springboard for an invasion around the world if a war ever happens just like when they wanted to use Philippines instead of Hawaii but failed to do so.
And Leo wanted to learn from them and wanted to execute that kind of strategy too.
Arriving near the edge of Cambridge after a few days of travelling.
The next day.
"Alright, get some rest for ten minutes. After that, storm through the entire city just what we did to the other places but this time make sure you don't get too far from the tanks!" Leo said ordered as his men immediately get a quick rest by sitting down or by eating some short meal that they had personally brought before.
Leo also looked for a place to rest and he went towards a huge tree and jumped over at its largest branch and sat there as he started eating some kind of a sandwich.
"I hope there are still a lot of students surviving inside Cambridge University" Leo mumbled as he took a bite of his sandwich. He has some expectations and really wanted that there are still a lot of surviving students in the school because they are the best to train as soldiers because they are still young but at the same time he would also meet some form of police or military inside the city.
*Sigh*
Leo sighed as he looked through the entire map of the city but he can't help but feel disappointed though as he can't even see a glimpse of green colored life signals at the map inside the school but he could at least see some scattered surviving humans around the city which for him is still a lot but that is in the off chance that they haven't gotten crazy from being surrounded by the dead for the past few months.
Ten minutes later.
"Ten minutes are up! Move out! Alex, take command in my absence!" Leo shouted at Alex who was organizing his men from which the latter nodded sternly.
"Make sure you guys don't get too far away from the tanks and the aerial support provided by the Black Hawk's. I'm sure you guys know that you would surely meet at least two or three "The Big Ones" inside the city. Just don't die, alright!? You guys had already ate a lot of my food so the least you could do is not dying without my permission, got it!?" Leo said along with a somewhat kind of a light joke at the end.
Leo dashed towards the city as he left his men behind to fend for themselves under Alex commands. Leo really feels thankful that Alex is always here to a.s.sist him especially to huge ventures like this.
He then ran towards the nearest primary school and the reason for this is because he actually forgot to h.o.a.rd the books when the various schools are still operational at the schools that they had pa.s.sed through to arrived where they are and it would also be great to have books to use when they open a school soon.
Leo also made sure to avoid as much confrontation as possible as he doesn't want to waste to much time dealing with this ordinary zombies and also because he saw a group of people inside this specific school and he thinks that maybe some of them are armed as he could see that they are slowly moving towards the exit of the school while eliminating the zombies in their way as Leo would see that there would hostile dots in the map disappearing around that particular group.
A few minutes later and after much zig zagging around the city. Leo had finally gone deep inside the city where he could finally start hearing gunshots and cannon fire along with the humming noises of the helicopters as smoke started billowing towards the skies
And Leo, finally arrived at his first destination.
It was...
The Grove Primary School.
