Tang Mo’er’s soft cry for help traveled into Gu Mohan’s ears and his pupils contracted, but he pursed his lips into a grimace and walked forward, holding onto her arm. “What’s the matter, where does it hurt? Did the poison act up?”

Hearing his gentle words, Tang Mo’er lifted her eyes and looked at him, smiling through her tearstained eyes. “Mr Gu, did I scare you? I’m just bluffing.”

Gu Mohan’s tensed up nerves instantly loosened, revealing a distant expression on his handsome face. “Miss Tang, such a prank may be funny to you, but I do not find it at all amusing. You’re not welcome at my engagement ceremony, please leave now.”

He then turned around and left after speaking.

But he felt his sleeves getting tugged on, her maiden-like voice sounded both coquettish and aggrieved. “Mr Gu, it hurts, it really hurts, my heart hurts so much. So so much. I’m in so much pain it feels like I’m going to die. Please come back with me, I don’t want to stay here, it’s so stifling here that I feel like I’m going to die.”

Her voice was like an alluring siren, continuing to call to him. If he didn’t agree to her demands, she would just start crying the next moment.

She wanted him to bring her away from that place.

She didn’t want him to get engaged.

Pulling away her fingers, Gu Mohan walked towards Lu Qi’er, though he didn’t take her hand.

Lu Qi’er smirked in satisfaction and hooked her arm around Gu Mohan’s arm, showing the world she was in a loving relations.h.i.+p with this man. Gu Mohan was hers and she wouldn’t let anyone s.n.a.t.c.h him away.

“Gu Mohan!” Tang Mo’er let out a scream after losing control over herself. Holding up a knife, she pressed the blade against her neck, shouting, “I won’t allow you to get engaged to Lu Qi’er. Gu Mohan, I’ll let you make a decision now. You can only choose one between Lu Qi’er and I!”

The entire crowd was in shock, a ripple of chatter erupted throughout the hall and the crowd as they scolded her for her audacity and shamelessness.

How could she be so shameless! Coming and disrupting the engagement celebration between Gu Mohan and Lu Qi’er. Didn’t she know her place?

In an instant, Gu Mohan turned around as Tang Mo’er gripped tightly onto the knife, the force of the sharp blade on her delicate skin resulting in a b.l.o.o.d.y gash on her neck.

But… I seem to have lost the bet. It’s fine, in front of you, I can only admit defeat and since I didn’t have much time to prepare, I didn’t get you an engagement present… Since that’s the case… why not…”
