Chapter 137

"Gimmie the odds." James was watching as the latest wave of adventurers made their way into the candy room where James's adventurers were making a rather heroic last stand. Currently, they had taken down four complete parties of adventurers. Most of their success, James knew, could be pinpointed on the level 30 member of the party, Mercer Effect. It seemed, as a gunslinger, he had a rather unfair advantage, in that he could range things he shouldn't be able to. That, and the fact he was expertly taking out the healers and mages of groups, leaving just their close ranged members to try and rush the well defended hill. So far, no one had made it close enough for the berserker or dread knight to even be of use. Currently, they, and the druid, were playing cards.

"Uh, 10 to 1, us." Rue and James had taken to making joke bets on BLANKs adventurers. James was sure BLANKs dungeons had a plethora of players, many of whom had to be skilled, judging by how difficult James knew BLANK had made their dungeon. Parties on the second floor were all at least level 20, and they moved about with the caution that they needed to survive. The fact that the dungeon's mobs were still hostile towards not only the invaders, but also the resident adventurers, also gave James's players a favorable advantage.

After all, they were safe atop a hill, not drawing mob aggro, and just shooting at targets trying to approach them. BLANKs players, who were trying to fend off the adventurers, had to rush past dangerous mobs, avoid drawing aggro, and dodge any traps that might be in their way, all in a hope of being able to fight the party of five adventurers before they died.

"I like those-" Just as James started accepting the odds, he noticed something. The party that had begun to charge towards the hill suddenly stopped. All around them, for a split second, the very dungeon seemed to go quiet. Then, a second later, a very loud, thunderous sound began to echo around the room. The sound was so powerful, that it seemed to make the very earth shake, and James saw the trees began to drop their sour lemon candies from the vibrations.

Whatever was coming was big. Whatever was coming was dangerous. Whatever was coming had BLANKs adventurers terrified. The group of adventurers glanced at the hill, where the gunslinger was watching, and turned instantly away, running deeper into the dungeon.

"This doesn't bode well for us." James heard MercerEffect say, as he looked around at his party. The three playing cards had put their game away, and had their weapons drawn. Ydna appeared to be looking over her player screen, scrolling through what James had to guess was either her inventory, or her skills screen.

"You don't say." The berserker said as she flexed her arms, muscles bulging. She was dual wielding B.L.U. chainswords. Something that shouldn't be possible but was allowed by her berserker cla.s.s. The cla.s.s was able to dual wield larger weapons, at the cost of their own defense. As a result, she was able to deal out a lot of damage but was going to take damage as well. Of course, the cla.s.s naturally had a high hp pool, as well as some rather unique effects based completely around the berserker's health pool. Long story short, James knew it was a rather formidable cla.s.s.

"Right, well, stick to the plan?" The gunslinger looked at his party members, and they all nodded in agreement. As they did, the earth shook once more, and James saw part of the candy floor begin to crack. The party, James, and Rue all turned towards one of the tunnels, where the sound appeared to be originating from.

"We try to take down whatever is coming, and the moment it looks grim, you and Ydna use your port stones to return back to our dungeon and turn in your essence. The rest of us will escape after you two are clear." The death knight, Gorg, actually seemed excited. "It's about time I actually get to have a little fun."

"Hey, tomorrow we can invade the first floor. That should be fun for all of us." MercerEffect shot Gorg a wink and leveled his rifle towards the entrance that they were focused on. "I was just curious how long this type of a plan would work for us."

"You just wanted to test out your new broken cla.s.s." Ydna grinned at MercerEffect as she placed a hand on his shoulder. "Don't even try to hide it."

"Prove it." He said.

Ydna simply laughed and closed her eyes. "Just make sure you actually escape in time. You've got the most essence out of all of us right now."

"GIVE THEM BACK." A voice bellowed out from the tunnel they were looking towards, and James watched as a group of ten adventurers made a mad dash out of the tunnel. Immediately, James noted a big difference in these players. First, a quick glance showed all these players were between level 29 and 31. Second, they didn't seem to be running towards the hill in an attempt at attacking the adventurers on the hill. Instead, it seemed as if they were dragging along something.

That something, became instantly clear a moment later. The members were pulling large nets, within which, James saw what appeared to be were gumdrop b.u.t.tons. Each gumdrop b.u.t.ton was held in a single net that required five adventurers to pull. A quick scan of the gumdrop b.u.t.tons showed that they were cla.s.sified as a level 30 mini boss but were currently at 0 health. Which was strange, because normally, when a mob was killed, it disappeared.

"NOT MY GUMDROP b.u.t.tONS." The voice roared again. Just as the adventurers got roughly 10 feet away from the entrance, earning them a few seconds to be shot by MercerEffect, a ma.s.sive form crawled out of the cave entrance.

Tier 2 Boss Mob

Gingy

Type: Gingerbread Man

"Oh, oh no." James could guess what BLANKs players were doing. It was something he had seen happen on more than a few occasions within his own dungeon. Something he had in fact discussed with his floor two boss mob specifically in the case of an invasion from enemy players. It seemed BLANKs players had a similar idea, even if the boss mob seemed to lack the intelligence that the Terminus had which would have allowed for the type of planning James had done.

"Secret boss?" Rue looked the gingerbread man up and down as she spoke. Now that he was standing up, he must have been at least twenty-five, if not 30, feet in height. The gumdrops, on the other hand, were only five or six feet in size, though obviously heavy judging by the strain the adventurers where showing in pulling them.

"Secret boss." James said, fighting between excitement, and fear. He was really looking forward to seeing what happened when BLANKs secret boss was made. However, he knew that was going to spell instant death for whichever of the adventurers where still around when it happened. Judging by their reactions, they were just as aware of the danger as James was.

"Change of plans." MercerEffect returned his rifle to his back, turning it once again into a bow. "How about we head on back together?" The rest of his party, who had been eagerly eying the adventurers before Gingy had appeared, all nodded in agreement.

"I'd rather not be killed by a giant cookie." Pester looked at the others as she sheathed her swords in a X across her back. "Something about being beaten down by a sweet treat seems a bit, ridiculous."

"Agreed." Caddy pulled out a crystal as he spoke, which the others all did as well. At this time, BLANKs adventurers had dropped their nets, their eyes focusing on the party at the top of the hill. It was apparent the Gunslinger's party was about to leave, meaning their plan was for not. The ranged members of the group dragging the gumdrops began preparing their spells, but it was too late. Just as their spells and attacks arched towards MercerEffect's group, the party members threw the crystals they were holding towards the ground. An instant later, they disappeared.

"Well, maybe we can still watch the-" James turned his attention back to the boss, who had reached the two gumdrops. James could feel the excitement swelling within him as the boss mob reached towards the gumdrops, while BLANKs adventures all turned and began running as fast as they could away from the boss. However, an instant later, the window he was watching closed out, stealing from him the chance to see BLANKs secret boss.

"Seems we can only spy on the instance as long as our players are in there." Rue was playing with a gingerbread man as she spoke, having ripped both of its legs off as if to taunt it.

"You don't say." James mumbled. However, a moment later a window popped up, and his disappointment quickly left.
