"How do you think we did?" James was looking over his information from the previous day's dungeon wars. Well, it was still technically the first day of the dungeon war. He had set his alarm to wake him up when there was just five hours remaining till the next rollover, so that he could get a good gauge of how much essence he would have earned by the time day three hit.

"I would definitely say BLANK is in for a big surprise." Rue grinned devilishly at him as she flexed her small pixie frame. He was certain that type of a pose would be much more terrifying in her Beastkin Berserker avatar. But currently, it was simply comical.

"Think we should try to step up our involvement on day two?" Other than when SoulDemon and his party had invaded, James had kept his direct influence out of the dungeon war as much as possible. Mainly because he was curious to see how his adventurers would do during the first day, and also because he just couldn't split his attention that many ways. When you had a 10,000 adventurers diving into your dungeon, well no human would be able to manage all of that. After all, that would have been 1,000 instances that James would have needed to manage. He may have had the ability to make the tentacles to deal with even more screens, but he didn't have the eyes or brain capacity to do it. He wasn't a freaking beholder.

"Hmmmm." Rue looked over the screen, her eyes darting over the information. He could tell she was thinking about something. The pixie had a certain look she got when she was truly plotting something.

"I would say you should focus on just bringing down any groups that have overwhelming power, but not interfere too much for now." She waived her hand at the stats. "After all, not even I know what the costs will be for summoning our avatars, bosses, and other aspects during the field of battle."

"So, shouldn't we try to farm more essence?" The more invaders they killed, the more essence they would gain. Additionally, the achievements that had been pouring in from Dungeon Wars had really been helping him boost his dungeon. James had not only continued earning the stackable Dungeon War specific quests, but the influx of players, both his and BLANKs, had allowed for him to unlock multiple mob specific achievements. Which was always nice, as those gave him additional upgrade options for his mobs.

Speaking of, one of the latest he had gained, had really made him chuckle. Normally, the mob specific achievements allowed him to merely gain an additional upgrade point for his mobs. However, this achievement had given him a unique upgrade, similar to Steve's unique transformation for his mimic. The mobs in question, were his Teddy Bear mobs. An achievement called Bad Fur Day had given him the additional transmogrification option for his Teddy Bears, allowing him to transform any teddy knights into stuffed squirrels instead. Which he had of course done to half of his teddies on his third floor instantly. James was secretly trying to figure out how to recreate some scenes from McStuffin's adventurers now that he had teddies and squirrels…

"That's probably what BLANK is going to do." Rue said dryly. After James had finished adding in additional traps to his third floor, and upgrading his mobs, he and Rue had decided to watch a few more invasions into BLANKs dungeon. What they had witnessed was much different than the earlier invasions. BLANK was very obviously taking an active role in the dungeon invasions now. James's parties barely had any time in BLANK's dungeon before they were swarmed by the enemy boss mobs, or world boss mobs. Honestly, James had already heard some grumbling from his players regarding invading BLANKs dungeon.

"Yeah, good point." While BLANK was definitely reaping the benefits of slaughtering James's adventurers, there was one thing James had noticed. Killing adventurers was one thing but killing invaders who had already killed some mobs or other players, was even more lucrative. It was a high risk, high reward type of situation. Whenever an invader who was holding on to a bunch of essence died, James gained not only the experience from them, but also all the essence as well. Of course, there was always the risk of the player leaving before they could be killed, which would result in the loss of all the essence. It seemed BLANK was going for the guaranteed essence of killing the adventurers as soon as possible, and as such, keeping James from even the chance of earning some essence from those invasions.

Conversely, James had made quite a decent amount of essence off of BLANKs invaders who had gotten too greedy. That, or those who had just seemed to be having too much fun. Other than a few groups like SoulDemon's, most of the invaders James had seen from BLANKs dungeon had really just run around laughing and having a good time. It was almost as if the thought of James's dungeon and all its random, chaotic uniqueness, was intoxicating. They were taking risks to see just what other mobs lay about, and what other items they could get the mobs to drop. Quite a few had actually wiped by allowing the Terminus and B.L.U. to combine, because they were interested in seeing what would happen.

In essence, BLANK's overly increased difficulty had been depriving a lot of their players from the main part of the game, the crazy, joyful fun that was usually an MMO. As such, even though Dungeon Wars were important to the players, they had been also letting themselves relax and have fun. That was, rather uniquely rewarding in James's eyes. It also validated to him that he must be doing something right. And hopefully, it was going to pay off.

"So, shall we just upgrade some mobs, and see how day two plays out as well?" They had already adjusted their traps across all three floors. Something that James had been torn on. He needed them to ensure invaders had a lower chance of surviving to return to BLANKs dungeon, but that also meant his own players may fall in the traps as well. Granted, that was great for experience, and there was a good chance he was going to hit Tier 4 at the end of this Dungeon War. However, it wouldn't matter if it cost him too much in the form of essence, and he lost the Dungeon War.

"Probably for the best." Rue let out a heavy sigh and turned away from him. "Wake me up if anything interesting happens." She summoned the tent that she sometimes slept in and flew lazily inside. Once she was past the tent flap, she waived her hand again. Just as the flap closed, James was able to catch a glimpse inside. Her clothes had changed with that hand waive, and James was more than a little interested in seeing what she was wearing again.

"Uh, alright then." James stared hard at the tent, his blood rus.h.i.+ng through his body. He was excited and nervous for dungeon wars. However, there really wasn't much he could do during the second day, other than ensure overpowered groups were dealt with in an appropriate matter. The really important day was going to be day three. That being said, while time had already begun moving slow ever since the dungeon wars started, now it seemed to come to a standstill.

James had a little over 24 hours to go, until he and Rue stepped onto the fields of battle, alongside all of his adventurers, to face off against BLANK. Meaning James had 24 hours of sitting around and twiddling his tentacles. And now Rue had just completely teased him with that stunt. A huge part of him wanted to go over to the tent and push the flap, which she hadn't zipped up, aside. The other part of him realized he was just a floating eyeball with tentacles. Not only that, he wasn't sure how she would react if he just barged in on her. Usually barging in on a scantily clad sleeping woman was frowned upon. And even if she was an AI, doing that just seemed inappropriate. Though, he was certain she was doing this solely to mess with or test him. d.a.m.ned Pixie.

Angrily, James turned away from the tent, and pulled up his second floor. He needed to get his mind off of Rue, and there was something, he realized, that he could still do. There were, after all, other aspects of being a dungeon core that he had been neglecting recently. Mainly, world bosses. BLANK had summoned its world bosses' multiple times against James invaders, it was only fair if James returned the favor. Besides, because of Rue's antics, James really needed something to distract himself. Plus, he was certain the knowledge he created the world bosses without her would drive her insane. In other words, equal payback.
