Chapter 8: You can't talk?
The bruises on her neck though faded were still noticeable. She had to cover them with a scarf.
Lin Meng knew that Gu Yubai hated her. But that night she discovered that she could not afford his hatred.
When she left, she did not think of the consequences, she gave no thought to others' emotions. Breaking someone's heart was a sin.
She lowered her head, her eyes on the road at her feet. A car stopped. The door opened, and two tall men in suits came down and ran straight to her. There was hardly anyone on this road.
She was scared. She reached for her phone in her purse. Before she could dial, they held her, one on the right other on the left and pulled her into the car.
“Miss Lin, Gu Shao wants to see you.” Qin Yue turned his head and said to the struggling woman. He sat in the front seat of the car.
When Lin Meng saw Qin Yue, she stopped resisting and leaned back in her seat. It was the end, she couldn't hide anymore.
Qin Yue looked at Lin Meng through the rearview mirror. She had changed a lot.
The car drove to a high-end villa. They must have built it in recent years. Lin Meng hadn't returned to the city in five years; it had changed a lot.
Lin Meng hesitated to enter through the door. Although she prepared herself before coming, it still scared her. The several bodyguards behind her left her no possibility of escape.
“Miss Lin, Gu Shao is waiting for you.” Qin Yue perceived her thoughts, he reminded her in a harsh voice, holding no trace of mercy.
Lin Meng saw him, her hands were sweating. The memory of that night still lingered in her mind as she stood still in the same place, frozen to the spot.
Qin Yue continued walking. He didn't worry that she would not keep up.
After hesitating for a long time, she finally followed.
“Gu Shao, Miss Lin came,” Qin Yue stood by the door and said to the man inside.
When she heard the door close with a loud bang, Lin Meng glanced at it in distress.
Gu Yubai had a cigarette in his hand and looked up at the Lin Meng standing by the door. The room was dark. Even though it was daytime, the curtains in the room were closed. She couldn't see his expression. She could see a sliver of smoke and smell the tobacco in the air. She could also feel a pair of cold eyes on her.
The air held a sense of oppression. She gasped, clenched her lips, her heartbeat rose and sunk.
After that night, he would not let her go.
Past affections were washed away by a few unpleasant years. The familiarity of the past was nowhere to be found…
She had been standing with no intention of walking over to him. He reached out and extinguished the cigarette b.u.t.t in the ashtray. He stood up and walked towards her, one step at a time. Like that night in her house, Lin Meng's heart pumped as she saw Gu Yubai approaching her.
He stopped a couple of steps away from her. His hands resided in the pocket of his trouser. His posture seemed careless. No one would understand that he couldn't muster up the courage to approach her lest he lose control of himself. He could only stand and interact with her from a safe distance.
“Don't want to say something?” He asked in a soft tone.
Lin Meng pointed her finger at her throat and waved at him.
