Keira couldn't help but crumple her face.

'What is this? He wants to talk and get drunk with Jeru rather than talk with her?' she mused irritably as she sat on the next chair.

"I also want to have a drink!" she complained as she got another gla.s.s and stretched her arm so Zach could pour some alcohol in it.

Jeru laughed and took the bottle from Zach as he poured some into Keira's gla.s.s.

"There, you must also have a fun night, like all the others. Don't worry, I will keep you safe and take back to your unit in case you get drunk," Jeru added with a smile that made Zach arch his brows.

Keira smiled as she said in her sweetest tone, "Thank you, Jeru."

"Jeru?!" Zach blurted out unconsciously.

Keira arched her brow and answered irritably, "What? It's his name, right? We are not a soldier and there's no superior right now. Is there anything wrong in calling him by his name, ZACH?!"

Zach only sighed and did not respond while Keira drank her gla.s.s in one go.

Zach poured more drink for Jeru but when he was about to pour into his gla.s.s, Keira s.n.a.t.c.hed the bottle from him and poured into her gla.s.s first.

Lieutenant Long pa.s.sed by their table and teased, "Wow, our most handsome Generals having a drink together."

Then he pulled a chair of his own and said, "I should join your group myself since I'm also one of the most handsome lieutenants."

He smiled at Keira and added, "Oh, we have a beautiful soldier in here too."

Keira smiled back at Lieutenant Long who returned his gaze back to Jeru and Zach.

"So, I really wonder why both of you are still single… I mean, look at you, guys… How come I'm not like you." Lieutenant Long burst out enviously.

Torin who also moved his chair commented, "Both of them are picky as h.e.l.l." 

Lieutenant Long arched an eyebrow and looked at Zach, "Don't tell me that's true?! I mean girls surely drool over and will never let someone like you slip away…"

Zach laughed then paused as he commented, "I hate blunt girls. I may sound old-fas.h.i.+oned but I prefer to be the one to chase… not the other way around. I hate girls who chase me around… they are not my type."

"Woooaah, so General Lim likes a challenge!" Lieutenant Long blurted out.

Keira's face was so crumpled that she poured herself more drink and drank it all in one go again.

'The heck! And now he's announcing it loudly? Challenge my b.u.t.t!!!' She mused irritably.

She was so enraged because Zach indirectly slapped her face because it was the same as saying that he hated her.

"How about you, General Liu? Do you like a challenge too?" asked Lieutenant Long as he poured him a drink.

Jeru smiled and looked at Keira adoringly as he said, "Hmm, it's okay. Anything will be fine as long as I like the person. But I would prefer a submissive and a blunt one who is open and bold about her true feelings. It will spare me the time to guess."

Lieutenant Long followed to where Jeru's eyes were pointed as he grinned.

"I see… I think I know who you prefe…" before he could finish his words, Zach interrupted as he shouted to a soldier, "Bring here more shots for Lieutenant Long and General Liu!"

Then he quickly poured some drink for the two men as he changed the topic and said, "I feel bad for the other soldiers that can't join us like this."

Lieutenant Long laughed and said, "Isn't it the reason we did it here, in an open area, so they can witness the fun but won't be able to partic.i.p.ate. It's like their punishment for not doing well in the training. They need to work harder like Miss Chan here. I've heard that you, in particular, have led your platoon and did a really great job."

Keira raised her gla.s.s in a toast to Lt. Long. Her face was already crimson red, as she smiled and answered, "Lieutenant Long, I'm the Field Marshal's daughter, so it's a given for me to be great. It's in the genes."

She was chuckling as she said those words that made them all laugh except for Zach.

"She is really so charming er..." Jeru commented with a hiccup.

Jeru was obviously already drunk because Zach did nothing but kept intentionally filling his gla.s.s with alcohol.

"Oh, look at General Liu… he's down, guys!" Lieutenant Long shouted when Jeru suddenly dropped his head onto the table.

Keira wanted to pour another gla.s.s for herself so she grabbed the bottleneck but she couldn't move it.

She turned her gaze and saw Zach's hand, holding the body.

"Stop already, you've had enough!" Zach murmured calmly.

"Tsk! Give me that! Why do you care if I have a little bit too much? Mind your own business!" Keira said wryly.

Zach looked at the others and said, "She seemed to snap soon, so I better take her back."

"Oh yeah, you better do that. The Field Marshal will kill us if he finds out that we let his princess get drunk," said Lt. Long.

Torin stood up and said, "Bro, do you need help?"

But he was surprised when Lana pulled him back on his seat and said, "What help? It's only Keira and she's not even heavy, to begin with. You stay here."

Torin was caught off guard because it was the longest sentence that Lana had ever said to him. 

His mouth was slightly open as he stared at Lana, who was pouring him a drink, as she said, "There you go, drink."

Then he smiled as he quickly drank the whole gla.s.s.

"I thought you will never talk to me." He mumbled, feeling a bit bashful for the first time in his life.

Zach was holding Keira as he led her towards their barrack.

Keira was already drunk, as she couldn't walk without swaying.

Zach sighed and pa.s.sed by her then stopped as he slightly bent his body.

"Wow, piggyback ride, I like it!" Keira burst out stuttering when she saw Zach bent on his knee in front of her.

She quickly hugged his back and hop onto it.

She buried her face on Zach's neck.

"You smell so good," she murmured.

Zach gulped and tried his best to concentrate despite the torture that Keira was making him go through at that moment.

"Keira, stop it or I'll drop you!" He scolded when he felt Keira was biting and sucking his neck as if giving him a hickey.

"d.a.m.n!" He cursed because Keira was playing with his neck as she giggled.

He entered the barrack in a hurry to put Keira down on the first bed he saw as soon as he could.

But to his surprise, Keira did not let go and pulled him down onto the bed with her.

"Stay with me… Do you know how my heart is aching because you are ignoring me?" Keira whispered, followed by a hiccup.

"Keira, let go… It's hard to breathe," he said as he tried to get out of Keira's arms that were pulling his neck.

He was afraid that his body's weight could crush her as he was lying on top of Keira's body on his back.

When he finally got loose from Keira's grip, he sat on the side of the bed and stared at Keira who was breathing heavily at that time.

Then his stare went down to her lips…

They were like a magnet, hypnotizing him to bend down and once again feel their softness and sweetness.

Zach subconsciously bent down and lightly kissed Keira.

But then he quickly retracted because he was distracted with some noise.

Anyway, when he looked around, there was nothing.

Zach let out a very long and frustrated sigh as he looked back at Keira. 

"Grow up, Keira Chan. When the right time comes, let's talk seriously…" he whispered.
