-Heyyy! Miss! Who are you??
Two-third of our lives are nothing but a sequence of some unexpected turns of events and rest is how we cope with it. At least it was for me. Back when I planned to call Jerry...or Barry in the bar I never could have guessed that there might be someone. Someone for whom I would be an inconvenience. Right then there was a little girl just standing in front of me; that little someone to whom I was anything but Santa Claus with a bag full of happiness to give. Her soft and cute like voice was perfect with that round head. Now I had to confront myself for this awkward visit.
-...Hi sweetheart, is Mr. Jefferson here? Mr. Barry Jefferson?
-No. Not yet,- The girl answered. For someone who's not accustomed with kids it wasn't difficult, even for me to understand that her voice was filled with sadness.
-Oh..I'm a friend of Mr. Barry. My name is Selina,- I went with the most common approach.
-A friend? But Dad says he doesn't have any friends here...my name is Jane Jefferson,- I kinda saw that. Actually it made me feel bad for even coming here. On the top of that I forced my way in here, thinking all those nonsense. The nameplate gave me ideas about their family.
-...I see...okay Jane. Nice to meet you baby. You are so cute. Could you please tell your Dad that Ms. Inspector will meet him at work...hmm? I'll be going then.
-You are a police!? Did Dad do something bad? He never did anything to harm others. I know. It was my Mommy who used to pull tricks on him,- As she continued, I started to feel like a criminal. Trying to escape the confrontation through which the loss of self-esteem. That escape didn't quite happen. Her mild voice stung me like a bee and I was unable to run away.
-No sweety! He didn't do anything bad. Actually, he helped me a lot; he is a good person.
-I knew it. He used to help Mommy a lot too with cooking, laundry, cleaning. She was very naughty. But Dad always used to catch her,- She seemed so happy with her story. I was happy too for her.
-And then?
-Then he picked her up and started to spin like a top. I would laugh...
-That's so cute. You have wonderful parents. I am happy to see that.
-Ms. Selina?
-Hmm sweetheart? What's the matter?
-Can you stay here with me? Dad still hasn't returned and only left me these toys to play with on my birthday.
-I'm sure he's coming soon. But today is your birthday and I don't have anything to give you as present. I'm sorry Jane.
-That's okay. I don't need presents. But will you stay here?
-What about Dad? I may become a problem when your Dad gets here.
-Nope. You said you were his friend. We'll play all night long!! All of us!
-(Sighs).
-What? Are you going home?
-No I'm putting my coat here, SO I CAN GRAB YOU! RUN!!
-(LAUGHTER)
