The death of his daughter that married out of his family could not compare to the death of his eldest son, the heir of his house. Having seen the b.l.o.o.d.y head of that son, Karlan Amnon went mad!
With that madness boosting his strength, not even Merab Zefer, who is still in the prime of his life, was able to block him without being forced to take a step back.
Roaring loudly, Karlan Amnon shouted, "Merab Zefer! Get out of my wayy!! If I don't kill that devil, we will have ourselves a warrr!!!"
Merab Zefer felt very frustrated. He never wanted this to happen. Even if his Zefer family must one day go all out against the Amnon family, that day should NOT be today! Not with the danger of the Wolfing gang so close by... But he highly doubts that anything he says now would calm down the old man of the Amnon family.
Behind Merab Zefer, who was defending fiercely, Seth's tone was a casual as before. "You keep calling me a devil, but have you ever seen an actual devil? They are the rulers of h.e.l.l, a group of 7 individuals, terrifying, but limited in number. At their weakest, they are comparable to the strongest of cultivators at the stage of spiritual transcendence. At their strongest, they're stronger than some G.o.ds of minor concepts. Though, I guess that won't matter to you. Unless one appears in front of you right now, you'll never be able to meet one." Seth said as he shrugged. Other than the kitty, no one else here understands what he is talking about.
"Give me a sword." Like before, another item magically appeared in Seth's right hand.
He then handed the b.l.o.o.d.y object in his left hand over to Gelard, telling him to hold it gently. The eyes of that object, which previously reflected pain and torture, have already been closed.
"What was it that I used to say back then? ...Anyone who touches a member of my kin, will have their bloodline erased." Seth's tone had turned absolutely cold.
Seth took a step forward. Then, he disappeared. To be exact, he didn't disappear. He just moved at a speed so fast that, to most of the people present, it looked like he did.
When Seth reappeared, he was in the air behind Karlan Amnon. They were so close, that their backs might as well have been touching.
Karlan Amnon, feeling a sudden sensation of imminent death, quickly leaped away.
The sword that was thrust backwards, cut through his helmet, and scratched his cheek. A burst of blood immediately broke out, causing his face to go terribly pale.
"What!? You!" The loss of blood caused his mind to sober up temporarily. Karlan Amnon was finally able to take a proper look at his a.s.sailant.
It was a mere child, of 11 years old. It was an immature brat who, according to reports, somehow managed to reach the 1st level of the heroic bearings stage, but was only at that level. There, inlaid the problem. "How did you get behind me!?"
How did he get behind him without him noticing? And why did he lose so much blood from a supposedly harmless scratch? Karlan Amnon did not understand.
Luckily, Seth isn't like one of those novel protagonists that completely shuts up when engaged in a fight. As long as he has the leisure to, he would spare his opponent some conversation.
"Did you ever wonder why martial cultivation techniques that have you dancing around like a clown (Well, that depends on which cultivation technique you are using...) are able to raise your cultivation levels? That's because the G.o.ds are watching us. As long as we perform before them in a satisfactory manner, they will grant us divine power as a reward to strengthen our bodies. Those things known as martial skills are the same. Dance well, and they'll give you a temporary boost in power. Dance badly, and you'll do more than just humiliate yourself..."
"Martial skills? I've never heard of them!" Taking what Seth said as nonsense, Karlan Amnon charged at him with his sword, his anger returned.
The moment he hacked down, Seth performed a backwards somersault. It was a graceful somersault that look made him look like a coiling dragon.
Under Karlan Amnon's widening eyes, that dodge that should have only taken Seth at most 2 meters backwards, had him appear almost 10 meters away.
After landing, Seth was still able to shrug and continue talking. "It's only normal that you haven't. Although martial skills usually have weaker effects than spells, their effects are proportional at every stage, making them highly valuable. Those organizations that have them would not easily give them out. So, there no way a backwater place like this would have one."
Karlan Amnon wanted to chase after Seth, but before he could, he felt a threat creep up from behind him.
Swinging his sword backwards, he clashed with Merab Zefer's saber.
"Merab Zefer! I warned you! This means war! All men, kill this pair of father and son!"
As if jolted by a bolt of electricity, all the soldiers went into action.
Thus, after the annihilation of the Bilin family, all the remaining forces of the Zefer and Amnon families entered into a deadly battle against each other. They disregarded their wounds, and their fatigue, and competed only at who could hack into the others the fastest.
Irene watched from the middle of the captive women, hoping that they would all kill each other.
Gelard ran around on the ground, avoiding getting stepped on.
As for Seth, he swung his sword up, slicing another man apart.
The blood that was on his right hand, spread down the blade of his sword, giving it a artistic pattern.
The sword that normally would have had its edge dented, or gone dull, after cutting through armor in such a brutal way, seems to have had its sharpness increased instead.
Seth just stood there, one man after another falling at his feet.
He raised his sword, looking at the two men fighting 10 meters away. Then, he swung down.
A red light flashed.
"Argh!!" Karlan Amnon screamed. Having suffered an unexpected wound at the back of his right shoulder, his right arm started going limp. He didn't understand what had happened. He didn't sense anyone directly behind him!
Forcing Merab Zefer back with a heavy slash, Karlan Amnon turned his head around.
His eyes caught sight of a blood red light in the shape of a line.
He quickly moved out of the way.
But seeming to follow him, the red line sliced into his left thigh, drawing another spurt of blood.
"How... is this possible?" Martial skill? Is this another one of those martial skills? Karlan Amnon couldn't help but think, as he looked at the cold faced youth walking towards him.
Karlan Amnon was beginning to regret provoking this little devil. If only he knew how strong he was beforehand, then he would have been able to make ample plans to deal with him.
Now, his situation became the same as Rook Bilin's was when he died. The number of soldiers he has is greater, but the number of higher level combatants he has is less. A tiger at the front, and a devil at the back...
Could it be, that even the G.o.ds want his Amnon family to die off?
He refuse to believe it!
Ignoring Merab Zefer, Karlan Amnon charged straight at Seth, with all the speed he could muster. The price for that, was him taking a slash at his back from Merab Zefer. The slash was not fatal, but neither was it weak enough to not affect him. His fighting capabilities will be weakened from this moment on. But no matter what, he must kill this devil! His instincts, and his desires, both told him this!
The distance of 10 meters felt like an eternity.
At every step that Karlan Amnon took, Seth would send out a slash.
Each time Seth swung his sword, Karlan Amnon would see a red flash. That red flash was unavoidable, and would cut into his flesh. The closer he got to Seth, the deeper the cut.
First, his right thigh. Then his stomach. Then his left shoulder. When he was one step away from being able to slash at Seth, he lost his right arm. A ma.s.sive amount of blood spurted out at that moment.
His body felt weak. His body felt heavy.
His remaining left arm was barely able to lift up his sword.
The tip of a saber stabbed through his chest from behind. His death was imminent.
His bloodshot eyes couldn't see anything else.
Seth was right before him.
All he had to do, was swing down his left arm. Then, this devil would be dead. The cause for all his losses will be gone, and his Amnon family will truly rise. That was what he believed.
He put all his belief, and all of his remaining strength, into this final slash.
In the end, he missed.
Seth had taken a step back. It was just one single step, at that final moment.
He was smiling as he said, "This feeling you get when you see your foe just barely reach the spot right before the finish line, but no matter what they do, they are unable to touch it... is not bad at all."
Karlan Amnon moved his reddened lips. He spurted blood out of his mouth as he said his last word. "...devil."
Then, he no longer moved at all.
He was not able to hear Seth complaining, "I said I am not..."
Nor was he able to hear his subordinates shouting, "Milord!!!"
He wasn't able to hear anything anymore...
