Starting from the perimeter of the forest of spikes, to the center, the marble spikes grew from a few inches, to a foot, to 2 feet, to 3, and then, from 1 meter and upwards, reaching a maximum height of approximately 4.8 meters at the tallest. The spikes further out pointed toward the center, while the tallest spike at the center pointed straight up.
When they were summoned, these marble spikes were harder than the hardest rock. But now, having already done their job, these spikes are disintegrating back into their smallest components, dispersing sand into the air.
Seth pushed aside the now brittle spikes. He only had to put a little bit of strength against each spike to make it collapse into pieces. Stepping on the smaller spikes now, doesn't even itch his feet. They directly crumble into sand.
Seth walked a path through the forest of spikes.
When he entered far enough for the forest to roof over his head, it became as if he is walking through a cavern. There was shade, and light entering through the gaps in between the spikes. It honestly looks like a good place to rest and relax.
When he reached the center of forest, and found the tallest marble sand spike, he met the man who had been stab through by it, resting there, skewered a few feet above the ground.
This man is large, with a height over 2 meters, and an impressive shoulder-width as well.
Compared to his muscular former self, the chief of the Wolfing gang, Ronold Wolf, is now a dried up husk. His hair color remained the same, and after the power boost from the berserk pill wore off, his skin had returned to its original shade. His veins are no longer bulging, and he isn't letting out any hot air.
However, there seems to be barely any water content in his body. This came not from his injuries, but from the aftereffects of the berserk pill.
Barely any blood leaked along the many spikes that had been stabbed through his flesh. These spikes were all broken off at various lengths, ranging from a few feet to a few meters, and stabbed different depths into his body.
Every part of his body was stabbed through, with the exception of his head which he must have somehow guarded. In terms of shape, he looks like a large porcupine, with its many spikes inverted.
"I had spent almost all my magic energy. I would be troubled if you hadn't died." Seth said, as he walked toward the body.
"Keke." A hoa.r.s.e chuckle could be heard, weak but clear enough. Ronold Wolf raised his head. Surprisingly, despite having been pierced so much, he is still alive.
Some trails of blood leaked from his mouth, reaching down to his chin.
Ronold Wolf stared at Seth, while Seth stared back.
The bandit chief began to speak. "You should be proud of yourself, brat. You have killed me. Now, you can name yourself a hero. No, I'll be troubled if you don't."
The person who kills a great villain must be a great hero, and the person who the great hero killed must be a great villain. That is what he meant. Ronold Wolf does not want to die a no-name's death. These were obviously his last words. Surprisingly, they were not curses, nor words of hate.
But Seth shook his head. He casually replied, "No way. Being a great hero? That's way too boring. Did you know, the most basic requirement to become a hero is to chop off your own d*ck."
Having said that, Seth made a scissor gesture at his own crotch. Despite his words sounding like a joke, his expression was completely serious.
"...Hahaha! Cough!" After a slight pause, Ronold Wolf laughed out in amus.e.m.e.nt, which led to him coughing up a portion of what little blood he had left.
He asked one final question. "...Tell me brat, what are you..."
Ronold Wolf isn't a smart man. He had gotten to where he is today with brute strength. But he isn't a complete moron either. After hitting Seth so many times, he was able tell, that Seth isn't wearing any protective treasure.
Even so, Seth's body is completely unharmed. There is only some dust and gravel coating his body and clothes. His clothes themselves have already gotten pretty tattered. They are obviously not that durable.
Seth pondered for a bit before replying. "For the minuscule chance that there might be someone eavesdropping, I won't say much. However, I can tell you one thing... That berserk pill that you ate? I made that."
"..." Ronold Wolf turned speechless. His mind whirled around a lot, until it finally came to a conclusion. In the end, he just grinned and said, "I'll see you in h.e.l.l.".
Then, his eyes quickly dimmed, and his head drooped. He spoke no more.
Looking down at the now departed bandit chief, Seth silently said, "...Since you were such a good conversation partner, I'll at least not chop off your head.".
...
"Your leader has died! Surrender and I'll let you live!" Seth shouted with a loud voice, as he dropped Ronold Wolf's body on the roof of a tall building in the city square for all to see.
When the bandits saw that their chief had died, they first fell into silence. Then, they let out voices of disbelief. Finally, they stopped all of what they were doing and began fleeing for their lives!
The bandits had been watching, when Seth had been fighting with their chief. Although they weren't able to see it all, they were able to see that the boy... was like a one man artillery! As soon as he rejoins the fray, they will surely suffer a b.l.o.o.d.y ma.s.sacre. Should they fight to the last man even if they know they cannot win? Bandits have never been people p.r.o.ne to doing that.
As for surrender? Why the h.e.l.l would they do that? So long as they have a way to escape, they would rather run! All of them ran toward the open western gate.
Seth did not think that they would obediently surrender either. He immediately ordered his troops. "Block their vice-chiefs. Ignore all the others!"
The soldiers of Haradur city immediately obeyed. Having learned of their victory, their morale has reached its highest point ever.
"Don't run, fools!! Don't run!!" The bandit vice-chiefs shouted. Unfortunately, their subordinates just ignored them and ran. They could not even punish them, as they are being stalled by Haradur city's remaining soldiers.
The bandits fled faster away than they had arrived. Where there were horses, they fought over horses. If any of their comrades were to block their way, they would shove them over.
Seth did not chase them. He went to help kill the remaining bandit vice-chiefs first.
Eventually, the fleeing bandits caught sight of the western gate. As expected, it is still open!
But before the ones at the front could reach it, they saw...
Torches falling from the city walls.
Those soldiers whom had been sent here after the bandits had entered the city, released the flaming torches in their hands. The torches. .h.i.t the red water, but unlike what should happen when fire meets water, the fire was not extinguished. Instead, it lit a fire in the moat. The fire spread out explosively, and very quickly became a huge sea of fire!
The sea of fire completely blocked the western gate. This made it evident that Seth had never intended to let these bandits leave!
Fear filling their eyes, the bandits stopped in their tracks. Many of them got trampled by the ones behind them that did not stop in time.
The wall of fire warded the bandits back. Humans and animals both, are creatures fearful of fire. Now that these mere unforgiving mortality stage bandits had met this sea of fire, none of them dare to run into it.
Some of them instead ran up the walls, hoping to find a place in the moat devoid of fire, a place where they could jump into from atop the wall.
Sadly, before they could even reach the top, they found a fire spreading atop the wall as well. It quickly spread along the whole width of the wall, preventing anyone from stepping foot on it. Like this, it has become impossible for them to leave through this side of the city, not unless they want to be burned to death.
Before they could consider where to run next, a grim voice sounded out from behind them. They felt as if the reaper had caught up to them.
"Your chief is dead. Your vice-chiefs have all died. I doubt any of your officers are still alive. You have lost your heads. Now, choose, surrender, or die." Seth slowly spoke, enunciating every single one of his words. The troops behind him had already started spreading out, encircling the band of bandits to prevent their escape. Although their numbers are less, all they have to do is buy enough time for the tiger that is Seth to tear through the crowd of bandits.
Unable to see any avenues of escape, the remaining bandits of the Wolfing gang lost their will to fight. One by one, they dropped their weapons and fell to their knees.
Now, they can only wait, for whatever fate their captors have waiting for them.
