Rivie turned around with a calm and graceful motion, making a simple turn into something elegant. "Ah, Becky, how can I help? Is this about your training? You call it a refresher course but everyone agrees that you are a well-experienced adventurer. You don't need to do this training if you don't have to."
"It's not that. I am truly grateful to both you and Elias for accepting my selfish request in re-training me along with the other new adventurers. I - have my reasons for this training."
"Does it have something to do with your previous party?" Rivie paused to wait for Becky's reaction before she continued. "I won't tell you that it happens for a reason or that their sacrifices weren't in vain. I'm sure you heard that a lot of times. What I will tell you though is that being an adventurer in Kalonia entails a lot of dangers. I'm sure you understand when I say that they knew what they were getting themselves into."
"I wasn't strong enough to help them and I ended up being the only one that escaped. It will always leave a scar and I have to bear their sacrifices on my shoulders."
"You're too young to be thinking like that. Although it will help you to mature, it might cloud your judgement in the field and it will affect your decisions."
Becky quietly mulled over the hard advice Rivie offered. After a few minutes, she shook her head as if to physically clear her mind. "Thank you for your input, but I had something else I'd like to talk to you about."
Rivie raised her eyebrows as she was caught surprised. "Oh? Not about the training? Then what is it about? I am pressed for time so please make it short. If you want we can talk tomorrow during the morning practice."
"I'll make it quick then. It's about that - you and Elias seem to be busy after training. Before when I first trained, your lessons took the whole day. Recently it's only half a day with you and Elias taking turns. I feel that you're busy with something, it might even be another form of training or something similar. I want to join other lessons you're providing."
Rivie kept her eyebrows raised as she couldn't hide being surprised further. It was now her turn to stay silent as she pondered quietly while looking at Becky's face. "I think this might actually turn out to be a good thing."
"So am I right? Are you providing supplementary lessons? I'd like to join that then." Becky couldn't hide her enthusiasm as she straightened her clothing and prepared her weapons as if to signal that she was ready to train immediately.
"I still have to discuss it with Elias and Leo. It is fortuitous that you are looking for party members at the moment."
"Does it have something to do with another group of adventurers? Are they good then? I need to redo the quest we previously failed. Even if the quest isn't posted, I'm still going to the Calberry Cave to finish what we couldn't."
Rivie placed her hand on Rivie's shoulder to slow her pace down. "Don't keep your hopes up. I'll tell you this because I think you will be an important a.s.set in that party. Are you aware of Forgotten Ones?"
Becky's eyes widened as it was her turn to be surprised now. "I've only read about them in stories and heard about them in bard's tales. Are you saying there is a Forgotten One here in Wildecross City?"
"Yes, we are training a Forgotten One to be an adventurer at the moment. He wants to be an adventurer so he will need to be prepared. Elias has contacted another adventurer to be in this party, I think you and your experience can be a vital addition as well, what do you think? Of course, as I said, I still have to talk with Elias and Leo."
"I am keen and I'm willing to wait for your decision. To think that we have a Forgotten One now. They are known to bring various ideas and skills from other worlds that can change Kalonia right? Is he actually good?" Becky wondered out aloud as she raised her question to Rivie. With all the excitement, the usual serious Becky was becoming more talkative and inquisitive.
"He does have a different mindset and some interesting skills, but I'll leave that for you to find out later. He doesn't have any experience being an adventurer, that's why Elias and I are training him extensively."
"I'll keep that in mind. In the meantime, I'll continue joining the usual training but please let me know the soonest if I can join his party."
As if on cue, Elias appeared in the monastery hall after the two women had had their conversation. "Eh? Rivie and Becky? What's going on?" Elias looked at the odd combination as he tried to think of reasons why the two would meet and talk outside of training.
Rivie clapped her hands as if to indicate their conversation was finished. "Ah, it's you, Elias. Becky and I were just discussing some private matters. I'll get ready for this afternoon's lesson now. I a.s.sume you're also heading to the training hall to do the same?"
"Yes, you're right. I'm headed that way now. Becky do you still need anything from Rivie? Let's head to the training hall together."
Rivie looked at Becky straight in her eyes as she spoke with a smile. "We can continue this hopefully tomorrow Becky. I'll update you accordingly." With a wink, she turned around and continued down the hallway, as if she was never disturbed in the first place.
