The room went quiet when they saw it was him, shame appeared on their faces.
Ben chuckled, "What? You lose one fight and you are ashamed of yourselves?"
The generals still were silent, not meeting his eyes.
"That king was twice as strong as the two I faced. None of you have to be ashamed of. You gained valuable battle experience. The kings are getting stronger it seems so we have to get stronger as well." The generals seemed to look a little better. " Now get up. We have to go meet the Demons."
After getting over their depression, they followed him out of the building.
…
"Maze do you know what is going on? Why have the humans healed us and put us back together?" a male demon asked, his skin was black as night and his horns were almost a foot long from his forehead.
The demon, Maze, sat on the floor with her knees to the chest. Her eyes looked desolate as she looked at the male demon. "I don't know." she said quietly.
The other females had the same desolate look in their eyes. They had all faced the horrors from the humans for months now, some of them died because of it.
Suddenly a knock on the door made them tense. The few male demons stood up and tried to block the rest of them, clenching their fists.
…
Ben entered the room, greeting by 40 demons with scared looks on their faces. A few of the males were glaring at them, ready to attack. The others entered the room with them, wariness on their faces, Lance hand rested on his sword in case something happened. Ben shot him a glance and Lance took his hand off the sword but still was ready to act.
"My name is Ben. I am from another human city. My generals and I have defeated the previous City Lord and the zombie king." he said, looking at their reactions. Although some were surprised, they still looked at Ben in fear.
Seeing that they didn't respond, Ben let out a sigh. "I can't imagine what you have been through and I won't try to but I am here to tell you that I under my rule you will be free."
A female demon looked up at him, "Free?" she asked, a little despondent.
Ben looked at her and recognized her from the demon that was chained up from before. He nodded his head, "I don't allow any form or slavery."
A male demon looked at him. " What about the people who did this to us?"
"I have killed the City Lord and most of his generals. I know that it is not enough and I am willing to allow you revenge." Ben said solemnly.
"Revenge?" one asked, looking confused.
Ben nodded slowly. "You can kill those that did this to you."
The demons were shocked and looked at Ben like he was crazy.
"The truth is I wish to make an alliance with your tribe. I have an alliance with a tribe of dwarves and snow elves and I wish for the same with yours." Ben said, telling them the truth.
"You are using us to get to our tribe." the male spoke,
"Yes. Plain and simple. I need people to be a part of my city that are strong and loyal, who I can trust." Ben simply said.
"Who said we are strong? And why the f.u.c.k would we ever be loyal to humans whose stole and killed our people and forced us into slavery!" the male spat out venomously.
"You are right. I have no right to ask for it." he paused before continuing. "But I am. I will be staying in the city for another two days. Please tell you leader my offer."
Ben turned around to walk out but paused, "Make sure they are all healed and let them go." he said to his generals before leaving the room.
Ben spent the rest of the day touring the city. The city didn't different too much from their own but the buildings were of different design that mimicked Russia style. The beings that started the system must have taken into account different cultures and styles of architecture.
Ben was sitting with James eating some food. "What do you think their decision will be?" James asked.
"Probably no. Would you after what they did after what we did to them?" Ben asked, raising his eyebrows at James.
"Then why are we waiting?" James asked confused.
"The world is changing. They know that. Their best chance at survival would be joining us." Ben said, putting his fork down.
Suddenly Deke appeared behind Ben. "City Lord, the demons are waiting for you at the gate."
James almost spat out his food in shock. Ben threw him a napkin with a smug smile. "They may hate us but ensuring their survival is the most important thing for a leader."
Ben told Deke to gather the rest of the generals to meet him at the gate to welcome the demons. Lilith, Lance and Colton beat him there, they were staring at their guests. At the gate stood 10 fully armed demons glaring at them with one older demon with over a foot long horns sticking from his head. He had wrinkled weathered skin, with a head full of white hair and a short beard. He carried a large staff that had the skull of a beast on the top of it.
"Welcome, I am Ben." Ben stepped forward to introduce himself. The 10 warrior's s.h.i.+fted their glares to him and tightened their grip on their weapons.
The elder looked him over before speaking. "You are the new leader?"
Ben nodded his head.
"Thank you for returning our people." the elder said to Ben inclining his head towards him. "But this alliance you speak of is a pipe dream. Your people have caused too much hatred among my people."
Ben stared at the elder for a moment. "Do you judge an entire race on the actions of a few?"
"Regardless, we are unable to forgive humans." the elder said, not changing his stance.
"I'm not asking you to forgive us. I am asking you to join us." Ben said not backing down.
"You are stubborn human. There is nothing you can say to change our mind." the elder said, shaking his head at Ben's persistence.
"Nothing I can say… how about I show you why you should." Ben said.
His tattoos on his arms and chest started to glow and move and after a flash of light three huge beasts appeared in front of them.
A black phoenix, a blue dragon and a black wolf all stood behind Ben, staring at the demons.
"Meet my partners." Ben smiled at the demons shocked expression.
