However, just as he was planning on leaving the cranes, he heard a familiar soothing voice coming from the cranes location, "Wolf, do not retreat, you received the blessing of our master, I plead for you to remain here with us temporarily."
When he heard this, Zaro was feeling quite shocked, especially when she told him that he received some unknown blessing. Initially he thought that the blessing was the mutation but then wondered if it was actually the three items he had received?
He shook his head in confusion and then decided to approach the group with caution as he didn't know what they were intending on doing.
When he got close, the crane had turned into the same female form that he witnessed before and then watched surprised as she greeted him with a bow, "I must thank you for mustering the courage to approach us," she spoke.
"What is this blessing that I received?" Zaro went straight to the point as he didn't believe that he was invited over for a mere conversation.
"Our master's flame has been extinguished by this 'h.e.l.l-Battle Dragon' you see here, he forcibly destroyed the dimension including a grand portion of his essence, causing him to revert back to his whelpling state. Those three cranes above are one of the three guardians of the three internal dimensions... they are intent on destroying this creature from existence for his deeds... however, it hadn't exactly committed a grievous act but a selfless one."
Zaro didn't know what was going on and wondered why she would praise him after he destroyed the dimension and probably many creatures along with it but then again he was no saint either and was responsible for many slaughters both inside and outside the dimension.
"What are you saying, didn't he practically remove your master from existence?!" Zaro said with a hint of fear in his voice. The whelpling sighed, his presence alone causing Zaro to feel extremely uncomfortable.
"This master they speak of had long ago owned a heavenly beast core and once he acc.u.mulated enough spiritual essence, he used it to destroy the world. Fortunately, he was stopped by the other spiritual beings which confined him into a dimension and destroying their bodies in the process... this master used the souls of other creatures inside the dimension to break free from his confinement, hence, I stopped him before the situation got worse."
At this point, Zaro's jaw had dropped to the floor, he was interested but shocked how one creature could simply destroy an entire world! He then thought of so many questions but then felt a sudden rush of killing intent towards him and immediately looked up at the three cranes which were hovering above them.
"Those cranes... are they here to kill you?"
"Precisely, they were created by this master... and received many perks of being his underlings, so, when I destroyed him... they decided to seek revenge against me."
"Wait, how did I get into this quarrel?" Zaro asked and immediately the crane stepped closer to him and bowed her head once more before speaking.
"Our master was a truly amazing existence, he wasn't evil and his intentions were not nefarious nor narcissistic, however, he was corrupted by the dark forces long before he acquired this power... fortunately, you have a tolerance to the darkness and thus won't turn for some odd reason and our master's rational side had noticed this and asked me to watch over you," she suddenly paused and used her mind to continue speaking so that the cranes wouldn't hear her, "he needs your help to take care of the wicked underlings and protect this helpless whelpling..."
Zaro was shocked once again, he didn't know how to react to the situation and definitely felt as if he was too incompetent to defeat even one of them, hence, he yelled out, "How do I do that?!"
The whelpling looked up at him and said in a serious tone, "I used my spiritual essence to destroy the dimension and spread some of my power to evolve the world's creatures... you should have more than enough strength."
Zaro looked down at his claws and then couldn't help but notice his long and sharp teeth in the corner of his eye. He went silent for a moment and then regarded the two seriously, "I understand that the three items I requested are rewards for defeating the three cranes?"
Both of them shook their heads silently and then the cranes suddenly dived down towards Zaro after hearing his words, releasing incredible auras once again. However, just as they thought that they had the upper hand in the fight, Zaro released his own aura which caused the whelpling and the girl to step back in shock.
"You want to fight?! Well I want that d.a.m.n sapphire core!"
Zaro sprung back onto his hind legs and then pounced several tens of meters into the air and slashed his claws which had a dark smoke emitting from them and a murderous aura along with it. His attack was so unexpected, the crane had no time to dodge and felt each individual claw ripping through his body.
"Ah! Brothers, use your elements!"
Unexpectedly, the three cranes suddenly transformed into mutated versions of themselves with each one having a different element but still having a dark element inside them. One of the cranes with a fire element looked like a great phoenix but with a mix of fire and smoke on its body. It spun its body around and flew straight at Zaro, its wing slas.h.i.+ng at his now vulnerable body in the air, causing him to growl with pain.
By the time he landed back onto the ground, he was already attacked about eight times by the crane in mid air. His body was badly beat up at this point but the more he got hit, the more anger was being acc.u.mulating inside his body, almost going berserk again.
Zaro had understood that once he pa.s.sed a certain pain threshold then he would transform into a killing machine, however, fearing for the whelpling and the girl, he decided to suppress his anger and let it out only during attacks rather than going on a rampage.
He took a few deep breaths and waited for one of the cranes to come close to him and once they did, he was ready and immediately charged his claws up with a huge influx of essence and then released a terrifying attack at the crane...
