"Saddle both wyverns and take as many ropes fives bows and as many arrows as we can carry. We will set a road to the next plateau by air and see how deep the next path will be. "

"Also, take a few spears and iron angkor so we can test the length of the rope need to reach the bottom."

"We will leave in four and start preparing the mounts in two so they can eat and rest before we leave."

The soldier nodded and ran swiftly to find light nimble companions they would be the one carried under the flying wyverns so they could use arrows and bow to test the deepness of the waterbed.

After all seeing the bottom did not mean it would be shallow…

The crystal clear water was treacherous like that tricking people to think it was easy to reach the bottom and yet it could easily swallow them whole.

However soon they reached an underwater chasm, It was very large and pitch black the bottom could not be seen from above.

Arkalat took one of the spears and took one of the ropes its length was around twenty feet.

Aiming it down he threw it toward the bottomless pit of water, his eyes narrowed when the rope disappeared whole. He motioned to the soldier to throw his own which measured roughly forty feet.

When that one also disappeared they all looked at one another more than forty feet deep…

If they had to swim in that would not the deep water monster be able to finally strike at them?

"Let's find a way around. Or at least try to.." this did not bode well originally there was a bridge made of solid natural rocks under the water. It was as far as he knew the sole way forward but now that it had collapsed how would they cross?

If it came down to it they would have to build carriable cask and both wyverns will fly it over but that would mean that those left behind and those waiting at the end would be vulnerable.

After trying to find a way to go around it and not only being unsuccessful but also realizing that the chasm not only extended endlessly barring them the way it also went on for miles in front of them.

The only way they could cross would be flying swimming was uprooted as an option as all of them would likely perish from the monster of the deep chasm.

Arkalat frowned annoyedly sighed.

"Let's head back it seems we will need to make a more secure camp as the progress might be halted. After a six-hour rest, we will scout how large is the chasm… after all, wyvern can only remain airborne for so long…"

All nodded in response to his affirmation. While the wyverns where formidable mounts they had one weakness this place had no wind to help them fly hence they wasted a huge amount of energy to remain into the air!

Calculating this fact they could not surpa.s.s five to six hours in those conditions before they would be too exhausted from the demands of energy.

The wyverns were thoroughly exhausted and needed at least six hours of full rest and feed to recover once they landed.

Seeing Arkalat foul mood Speranza frowned lightly. Thinking that obviously, something was not going as he had plan hopping yet that it was nothing much, after all, this place could well be their tomb if something went south.

After giving his instructions to make a more secure camp out of the water using a dock like constructions and make defensive walls using wood that they had brought over in s.p.a.ce bags he left for Speranza palanquin.

Looking at his wife he couldn't help but feel restless the journey had been smoother than what he had first expected. Now the bridge obviously was gone not even knowing if that way was usable. But it would be in all likeliness that they would have to use a route that encountered more cities of the underworld bringing more dangers in addition to more complications.

Looking at her and how feeble she had been looking since now her skin had not seen the sun in a while she had turned winter white deeply contrasting her fiery hair and azure blue eyes tugged on his heartstrings wondering if he had been right to bring her to this desolated world were one wrong move could cost them everything.
