"I didn't ask you," Jingtang muttered.
"I was merely speaking for my actress."
"Your actress my foot. She's mine. If not, go out there and get her endors.e.m.e.nts." His hands akimbo.
He looked like a nagging wife.
Xiujun used his palm to cover his face in shame. What the f.u.c.k is wrong with him? He wondered.
"That's enough Jingtang, I was the one that got the offer. Anyways," he turned to grab Xueyan's hand. "Accept this little gift from me. It's very little, they will be more. With higher pay, I promise."
"Thank you," Xueyan didn't have any more word to say how grateful she was. "Thank you so much,"
"Nah nah. It's nothing," was Xiujun's reply. He wasn't only offering... He had much bigger plans.
"It's late, let's return." Jingtang fibbed. "He's still in town." The last statement had Xiujun head snapping towards Jingtang.
Jingtang didn't look down. He knew it wouldn't do him good to let Xiujun spend the night here, it won't do him any good too, to let him remain. It was much better they returned to the city. Or he'd have to answer to the president.
Xiujun laughed awkwardly. Jingtang is so brainless.
"I'll take my leave, now." He kissed Xueyan hand that was still inside his bigger hand. "Good night, rest now, the shoot starts around eleven. There's still time for a nap." He winked at Xueyan, stood up and strode away without turning back.
"You're stupid!" Xiujun said on their way to the car.
"I accept." Jingtang said with a straight face.
Xiujun wanted to hit him. "Can't you tell him we have a shoot tonight?"
"I can't!" Jingtang said with widened eyes. "The President knows your schedule more than I do. As for your mom...she will have me chopped into a million pieces."
"That wouldn't be a bad idea," he pulled the car door, got in and slammed it close.
"I'm sorry, I have to obey them first before you." He mumbled then got in and the driver sped out of the environment.
Xiujun went to his phone gallery. He had two phones, one was for storing his pictures and videos that he uploaded on weibo and the second was for his contacts. But now in the phone with no picture, it now had a single picture.
When he kissed her hand just now, he smiled at it. Then pushed the phone to Jingtang. "Isn't it beautiful?"
The shocked look on Jingtang face made Xiujun smile. He loved that look. Doing things without his knowledge was kind of fun.
"Answer," he arched his brow.
Jingtang furrowed his brows. "What the f.u.c.k do you think you're doing?"
Xiujun chuckled. "Doing exactly the f.u.c.k I should be doing."
"I hope it's not what I'm thinking."
"What? Huh?" Xiujun started chuckling. Jingtang was smart. "Give me the tab."
"No!"
Xiujun pouted. "Then don't. I'll still upload it!" Jingtang tried grabbing the phone but Xiujun drew back and s.h.i.+fted to the other side, no longer sitting behind his bestfriend. He winked at him and it only made Jingtang frown.
"Please, let me help you with it."
"No!" Xiujun sharply replied.
Jingtang felt like he was going to die. "Xiujun,"
"Shut up." Xiujun fired. "Just ignore me."
"You're absurd! You're being ridiculous!! What the f.u.c.k? You'll get me in trouble." Jingtang was going to lose his sanity.
Du Xiujun looked out the window, enjoying the beautiful night scenery. He ignored Jingtang's shouting.
The two hours drive back to the city had Jingtang worried sick. Xiujun was up to something and he knew nothing about it. If he posts that picture, he'll draw attentions, unwanted attentions and he had to work on clearing the cloud.
He pleaded nonstop but Xiujun ignored him, closing his eyes as if he was asleep.
This wasn't going to be good for Xueyan... No way would it be.
He waited for them to get home, he immediately went to the study door and knocked. It took five seconds before he heard an answer and pushed the door open.
"Good evening sir," the man had his back to the door and looking out the night view.
"Yes,"
"Sir... Sir, Xiujun..." Words failed him. What if the president supports him too?
"Xiujun what?" The man turned, he had a cigar in hand. "Are you having any difficulties?"
"Sir Xiujun is planning for a scandal..." He trailed off, not sure whether to continued.
The man furrowed his brows, and more lines appeared on his forehead. "What do you mean?"
"He... He..."
"Can you stop stammering? Speak up!" The man was impatient.
"Xueyan is a newcomer, no one knows about her yet, except the employees at All Stars Media. His fans doesn't know her...nor has she gathered her own fans, if she were to start with a rumour...it...it wouldn't be so good for her..."
The man nodded twice, "I agree. Go tell him that. He listens to you more than me. Go tell him," he turned back to the window.
Making Jingtang worry more. If the president couldn't talk to his own son... Who was he to?
He wanted the ground to open and swallow him, he didn't want to think about how worried he will be when the news spread.
He dashed out of the room, climbed the stairs and knocked on Xiujun's door. No answer, he then pulled the door.
"What?" Xiujun voice came from the room. "Go home now and stop troubling me."
"Should I? You're so selfish. I'll go. Just don't ask for me, after uploading the photo. I wonder how Miss Bai Xueyan would feel if she knows it's you. She hasn't even made her debut and you're ready to tarnish her image." Jingtang harped. "It will make her so sad that you did this..." He paused, still standing at the door. "Good night!"
Xiujun was left to ponder on it. He wanted to slap those words back into Jingtang's mouth. And make him take them back.
*****
At the shooting location,
Xueyan had makeup applied to her face. In her cell, still dressed in rags, she planned for her escape.
She hadn't been taken much around the kingdom and knew nowhere in particular.
She saw Mei Han seated far from her supposed prison cell and dozing off on a chair. And she worried Mei Han might have a sprained neck the next day.
It was one o'clock in the morning when the shoot completed.
Ruqin hadn't been able to escape far, she knocked her cell guard down and ran away, but before she could get far, the guard woke up and alerted the other guards. Horses raced to go find her.
She his well in an alley down the street, when the horses pa.s.sed, she heaved a sigh thinking she had been successful. To her biggest shock, Dasheng was right behind her.
Her face turned ghastly pale, when she spun around to leave and saw him.
He must have been irritated by her, as he struck her head with his balled fists, knocking her unconscious. Lifted her to his shoulders and carried her back.
The next morning, six forty. The day was already brightened, birds chirping and breeze blowing.
The camera had been set earlier to catch the sun rising from the east.
Xueyan quickly got into character as she stirred on the cold floor, cold water was sent her way. Rubbing her eyes open and she tried to sit up. Her head ached. She clutched her head and sat up. She was dripping wet, she s.h.i.+vered due to the cold water.
Dasheng stood at the gate, smiling down at her. A pail in his hand. "Morning milady," he then crouched. "Your mates are in the field already, training for the tournament."
Through gritting teeth, she asked. "What tournament?"
"Oi, oi, milady. You weren't informed? Where's that useless guard?" He teased. "He didn't inform you?"
He then shouted. "Open the gate. Break is over!"
He strode away after saying that, Ruqin was dragged out by two guards, after she hit her guard again.
"You little woman. You've so much guts." The guard hissed.
"And very soon, I'd get to be called master by you." She chuckled.
The two guards got annoyed and pushed her with force. She hit her knees hard on the ground. She didn't mind though. "Useless piece of s.h.i.+ts! I wonder how you survive the wars if you can't take the words coming out of my mouth."
The two guards said nothing more after they saw Master Su, galloping towards them.
They bowed.
Master Su got close, a lingering smile on his face when he saw the state she was in.
"Young lady... You seem to have had a splendid morning,"
Ruqin scowled. "Having your head on my table would be much better,"
He didn't mind her sharp tongue, he only smiled. "Come spar with me in the field. I would be glad to serve it to you."
The two guards thought they heard wrong. She had the audacity to talk down on their master and he did nothing about.
Imagine they would have puked blood, if they had joined the black guards that attacked their village.
"I need to change," Ruqin stated.
"Miss Yan... You must be mistaken, this is not your small village where..." The guard was taken unaware, as Ruqin stood up, and gave him an upper cut that sent him into a world of darkness. She nearly flinched by the pain the man's jaw caused but stopped. She didn't want to seem weak.
The smile on Master Su's face widened. "You'd make a great warrior!"
Ruqin examined the horse. He had changed horses, where is her horse? A thought to attack the man came to mind, it was now the man's turn to be examined. He was watching her too.
A dagger and a sword attached to his waist belt. She wished she could see beyond the clothes to know what other weapon he was carrying.
"Let's go, to the field." Side by side, Ruqin walked with the horse.
They got to the open field. It was divided into three.
One for horse racing, one for sword fighting and the last for arrow shooting. It was very wide but from her standing place, she could see everywhere and again with her keen eyes, she was able to see some of the villagers.
"Where would you like to start from, Young Miss?"
She smirked and looked down at the rope used to bind her hands. "Untie me, and give me my sword!" It was more of a command than a plea. As always, the man didn't mind. "You spar with a stick, no one learns with sword!"
"I'm a master, not a learner."
"Sure you're! But here? You're a slave with no knowledge of the sword."
She rolled her eyes. "Untie me!"
