Wu Xuan's loud voice was, without a doubt, attention grabbing, and the guests in the restaurant looked over.
Yu Zhen was also shocked. He instinctively turned his head and his eyes widened in surprise.
Is this a hallucination? Why's there a layer of red mist on Wu Xuan's body? When we met on the plane, it wasn't there.
Sensing the fear in his heart, Yin Yan stood up and blocked his line of sight. He said to Wu Xuan, "We can talk, but let's go to a private room."
Wu Xuan, having recalled his own preference to not be gossip fodder for others, suppressed his anger before approaching.
The man seated at Wu Xuan's table frowned and silently followed after him.
Bu Chen didn't expect Wu Xuan to be dining there at the same time.He sighed internally. What a coincidence! He was even sitting so close to us! As expected, opposing sides will inevitably clash.
Finally noticing the person behind Wu Xuan, Bu Chen sighed, "Wu Feng?" He immediately corrected his expression and cursed his bad luck.
The Wu family was unlike other families. They paid strict attention to their established rules and didn't divide up their family nor their a.s.sets. Since their grandparent's generation, the whole family had done business together, and the cousins of the current generation also accepted their business gains and losses together. They functioned like an old-fas.h.i.+oned aristocratic family.
Wu Feng was the main family's eldest child and the head of the current generation. From a young age, he'd been trained to be the leader of the Wu family. He was earnest and protected the family. Within the circle's current generation of youths, it was unavoidable for the young people to not have at least some kind of conflict at some point with others. Wu Feng was the only exception to the rule. No one dared to provoke him. To provoke him was to bring trouble onto themselves.
Bu Lian mentioned the green hat on Wu Xuan's head, and they heard us. I don't think we'll have a peaceful meal today.
Everyone kept their warring thoughts to themselves as they headed to a private dining room. Fortunately, as the room Yin Yan initially booked from before they b.u.mped into Bu Chen was still reserved, they did not have to go through an awkward and troublesome wait.
Once everyone was seated, Bu Chen ordered new dishes. Worried that everyone might get more heated if they started drinking, he did not ask for alcohol to be served. Instead, he ordered tea and juice.
Losing to his impatience, Wu Xuan demanded in an accusing manner, "Make it clear. What did you mean by Han Ya 'asked you'? And she cried while calling you?"
Bu Chen frowned at the question and Bu Lian became angered, while Wu Feng drank his tea in deep thought. Yu Zhen continued to stare intensely at Wu Xuan. In the enclosed room, only two individuals remained calm – Yin Yan, who was questioned, and Xu Wu, who reclined on Yu Zhen's lap.
Naturally, their calm could be mere appearances.
Yin Yan suddenly looked at Yu Zhen and said, "I want to drink juice."
Yu Zhen returned to his senses. He glanced at the juice near Yin Yan's hand and gave an inquiring look.
Isn't the juice right there? If you want some, then pour some. You don't need to announce it.
Yin Yan remained silent, but his thumb lightly rubbed the side of the cup in his hand. His meaning was clear.
“…”
With a blank expression, Yu Zhen leaned forward to pick up the large jug of juice.
“Be careful not to drop it.”
At the same time, Yin Yan considerately reached out a hand to his waist and lightly supported him in a move that seemed to draw Yu Zhen to himself.
Promptly, Wu Feng stopped sipping his tea, Bu Chen stopped frowning, and Bu Lian stopped being angry. In contrast, Wu Xuan's anger drastically increased.
I wanted to have a proper talk, so what's with this lovey-dovey aura they're showing? Is this how decent people act?!
“Yin Yan, you -“
“Wait a moment.” Yu Zhen had frozen after Yin Yan supported him. After a brief pause, he slowly retracted his hand, took the juice from Yu Zhen's hand and helped him back to his seated position. “You should eat first. I'll talk with Wu Xuan.”
Yu Zhen suddenly gripped Yin Yan's hand tightly.
Yin Yan's low mood immediately lifted but his expression remained calm. He looked at Yu Zhen and asked, "What's wrong?"
From the edge of his vision, Yu Zhen saw the red mist disappear when he held Yin Yan's hand. It was as he expected. Silently he shook his head, released Yin Yan's hand and glanced at Wu Xuan again. The red mist appeared again. Under the guise of playing with the kitten, he lowered his head to cover up his frown.
What's happening? Why does the red mist disappear when I touch Yin Yan? What is this red mist?
Yin Yan intuitively felt that something was off with Yu Zhen's mood, however, the feeling conveyed to his heart was only that of uncertainty. It wasn't a good place to talk, so he simply poured a gla.s.s of juice for Yu Zhen and hinted that Xu Wu should pay extra attention to Yu Zhen. "Right now, regardless of what I say, you'll think that I'm blackening Han Ya's name because I was unsuccessful in chasing her."
Hit on his sore point, Wu Xuan immediately exploded. He smacked the table and stood up. With indignant anger, he bit out, "Yin Yan! What are you suggesting!? I wanted to speak in a nice manner, but you insist on provoking me!"
“You should believe what you see, not what you hear.”
Yin Yan ignored Wu Xuan's anger and took his mobile phone out of his pocket. After unlocking it, he moved it towards Wu Xuan and said, "After the accident, I blacklisted Han Ya, but our earlier conversations are still there. If there's anything you want to know, you can check it. I hope that after today, there will no longer be gossip about me and Han Ya. Regardless of how the two of you want to play around, don't implicate me."
He had an open-minded att.i.tude, but his words were merciless. As everyone present was clever, they quickly understood his words. The atmosphere became quite stifling.
Yin Yan's actions told everyone clearly that he did not lie and had a clear conscience. Instead, the liar was that certain person who was not present but was involved in the situation.
In place of Wu Xuan, Wu Feng picked up the phone. But he did not look through it. Instead, he locked it and pushed the phone back. Politely, he said, "The Wu family doesn't have the habit of looking through others' private business. Young Master Yin doesn't need to do this."
"I only want to clear my name," Yin Yan replied. He didn't pick up the phone and maintained the same calm.
Wu Xuan's burning anger was extinguished. With a complicated gaze, he looked at the phone which beckoned for his attention. He struggled with his emotions briefly before looking away. What's out of sight is out of mind. He looked at Yin Yan and asked, "How does Han Ya speak about me in front of you?"
"You're a pursuer who's making her feel guilty. She doesn't have the heart to refuse."
“d.a.m.n it!” Wu Xuan cursed. This statement is so d.a.m.n familiar!
“You didn't know that Han Ya and I were already together?” He asked.
Yin Yan shook his head and asked, “When did you two get together?”
"Not long ago. Just a month before your accident. She said she had finally made up her mind and she wanted to be with me forever. Before that, she hesitated for a long time, saying she wasn't worthy of me. Because of that, it took me a long time to convince her."
Wu Xuan began talking a lot more. He seemed to be trying to stabilize the collapsing image of Han Ya in his heart.
Yin Yan heartlessly continued to pour salt on the open wound, "In the month before the accident, the goods she asked me to get for her dad finally arrived. You probably know, it's not easy to get the cosmetics from my mom's company. As for words of being 'unworthy', I've also heard those before."
“f.u.c.k!”
Wu Xuan smacked the table again. His final bit of self-restraint was almost gone.
I'd always thought Han Ya was pure and virtuous! Although her family's position doesn't compare to mine, she held a sense of integrity. She didn't use the fact that I was chasing her to demand unreasonable things from me. She didn't ask for anything from me, but she asked Yin Yan! She threw him aside once she had what she wanted!
So what was Han Ya doing? Taking advantage of another man, then acting n.o.ble and virtuous in front of me! Who does she think she's playing with?
"Interesting," Wu Feng commented. His gaze returned to the phone for a moment. He chuckled ambiguously, "Xiao Xuan. What was your purpose for inviting me to lunch today?"
"Of course it was to discuss New Year's and bringing – f.u.c.k!"
Wu Xuan stopped mid-sentence. He felt like the biggest fool in the world. He had intended to discuss bringing Han Ya to their home and to discuss building a relations.h.i.+p with Han Ya's father.
The Wu family wasn't in a better position than the Yin family. Their resources couldn't be casually squandered. If it wasn't for improving Han Ya's recent bad mood, I wouldn't have invited Wu Feng out!
"It looks like Han Ya does like you. Her time of resistance was quite long, and through it, she persevered with working things out on her own rather than turning to you. It's clear Yin Yan could give her more, but she's together with you instead."
Wu Feng turned the teacup in his hand. He spoke ambiguously, making it difficult for others to understand his true meaning.
“Not quite.” Yin Yan shook his head and continued, “In terms of resources, I can help her better. But in terms of network, the Wu family is in a much better position than my family.”
That was also something determined by their families' circ.u.mstances. The Yin family was small, and not fond of currying favor from other people. Although they had wealth, their connections were inferior. In comparison, the Wu family had a wide network with deep roots and connections spanning multiple generations. It could be said that their connections were greater than any other family of the same level.
Although there was no cla.s.s divide in their era, there was a tacit understanding about certain things. Connections represented power and, since ancient times to current times, power remained more appealing than money.
That was why, in the original fate of the Yin family, the wealthy Yin family would go into decline trying to exact revenge on Han Ya. Money simply could not beat connections.
Wu Feng collected his expression and observed Yin Yan closely. "You've changed quite a lot since your accident."
"Because I've settled down. I have to take on some responsibilities now." Yin Yan pressed on the ring on his hand as he gave a dignified reason.
As a result, Wu Feng's gaze moved to Yu Zhen who had been quietly petting the kitten the entire time.
Yu Zhen: “…”
Yin Yan lightly tapped on the table.
“May you live a long and happy life together*.” Wu Feng raised the cup of tea in the absence of wine.
*百年好合. A congratulatory wedding greeting.Yin Yan politely replied, "Thank you very much.”
As the two exchanged words, they exuded an aura that said, “Silly mortals need not join us”. Bu Chen looked back and forth at the people around him. Finally, he decided silence is golden and returned to his original task – eating.
The atmosphere in the box became strange and heavy. A ringing abruptly started up and everyone looked to the source of the sound.
With a dark expression, Wu Xuan took out his phone and stared at the caller ID. He rejected the call. Standing up, he said, "Yin Yan, in the past, I misunderstood you. Next time, I'll formally invite you out for a meal to apologize for this. Bye."
When he finished speaking, he left as swiftly as the wind.

From this point on, all chapters until ch107 will be twice the length of the chapters so far. But, unfortunately, I won't be able to translate quite that much each week so chapters will be split into two. orz. Sorry, until I'm done with uni, this is the only viable pace for me.
