According to his calculations, Steve would be hit when he had just landed from the air, thus having no time to dodge his attack. But, right then, Steve put on the Cloak of Dela, and the force of the airflow lifted him up and allowed him to hover in mid-air for a while.
The Cloak of Dela could help one be invisible and fly at low alt.i.tudes. This was also an easy thing to achieve when Steve was temporarily floating in mid-air.
As Alex's attack missed Steve, who was still in mid-air, Steve hit Alex on the back of his head by whipping his leg around.

Alex's spears seemed endless, Steve's escape seemed hopeless. Upon seeing this situation, the recruits present were all nervous and worried about Steve.
Hayden burst out laughing. "Hahaha! After getting trapped in Alex's Bird-in-Cage, Steve will either end up stabbed to death by spears or surrender obediently. Thus, Alex has won the game this time!"
