This is a happy ending

Chapter 1

Du MengLou didn't think he would be so unlucky.

Although he has been unlucky since birth, the current predicament he found himself in still made him grumble in frustration.

In this damp and gloomy room, only two silhouettes were visible. The figure above was like a big mountain, enveloping the white body beneath it that was repeatedly moaning and gasping with a hoa.r.s.e voice.

"wu……"

Finally the soft body below made a move to resist, pressing two soft arms against the man's firm chest.

As if provoked, the man quickened his pace, ramming hard and fast into the body below him. Soon after, greasy liquid flooded the lower area, and a dark husky pitched groan followed -his body quaking in the aftermath.

"Ah……"

With his needs met, the man looked at the cowering Du Mengluo and smirked.

Du Mengluo was indifferent, whether to the room's licentious air or the man's disdainful gaze.

Having vented his feelings, the man leisurely fixed his clothes, and from within his sleeves, threw down a half-hardened mantou.

Du Mengluo moved achingly, as if on his dying breath, and slowly turned his head, a sudden light flas.h.i.+ng across his dark abyss pupils, promptly standing.

The man didn't spare him another glance and walked towards the door, and when he pa.s.sed by Du Mengluo, he kicked him with a strength that was neither too harsh nor soft and said: "a thing with no sense of shame."

Du Mengluo tactfully withdrew into a corner, his face filled with timidness and fear.

Laughing in satisfaction, the man took large strides out. Moonlight flickered following his leave, and the door was again locked tightly shut.

Hearing the footsteps gradually fade, Du Mengluo use the wall to support his rise, and started to walk using his two numbed pair of legs; step by step until he reached that pale person's side.

"Give it to me." Du Mengluo reached out his hand.

That person was still naked, beside his foot acc.u.mulated a pile of dirty clothes. He first raised his head to look at Du Mengluo, then looked at the food in his hand, and then broke off half of it and gave it to him.

Du Mengluo took it with no trace of politeness, and then again s.n.a.t.c.hed something else from him.

Walking back to the corner, Du Menglou began to gobble down his food. In fact, it could not fill his hunger, but it was still better than nothing.

Du Menglou exhaled very lightly. As soon as he raised his eyes, he found a boy kneeling in front of himself, picking up the little bits of the crumbs falling to the floor.

He silently stepped on the boy's shoulder and then kicked him to the ground with all his might, rubbing his other foot across the ground.

The boy was so frightened he scrambled back to his original place and cowered into a ball.

Eyes cold and indifferent, Du Mengluo sized up the other person. Xue Dan, skin white like snow (xue), obedient and agreeable, no wonder Cui Jin once doted on this person so much. Thinking this, Du Mengluo's gaze revealed traces of disdain. So what if he doted so much on him? Now Cui Jin is treading a thin line between life and death. They were nothing more than prisoners of Ningw.a.n.g palace, their dignity worth nothing as long as they are fed.

Xue Dan slowly wrapped his clothes around his body and then looked timidly at Du Mengluo.

Du Menglou lowered his eyes and yawned.

Seeing that he was not as cruel and frightening as he had just been, Xue Dan tentatively moved forward, like a shy dog. On one hand, he was observing the other's expression, and on the other, he was drawing closer to the only source of warmth in this cold hut.

When he finally came close to Du Mengluo, Xue Dan's stomach rumbled.

"Gege, I'm hungry."

Xue Dan's voice was so soft and quiet it was as if he hadn't said anything at all. He swallowed a mouthful of saliva, and his pale hand pointing to the ground inadvertently rose.

Du Mengluo closed his eyes, ignoring the miserable and wretched voice.

Receiving such a cold reception caused Xue Dan to feel unconsciously broken-hearted. It was truly unendurable feeling both cold and hungry, so he raised his courage and nestled into Du Mengluo's embrace for warmth.

Although his eyelids twitched, Du Mengluo did not open his eyes and allowed Xue Dan to intimately lean on his shoulder.

An unknown quanta of time pa.s.sed, and soon light snoring drifted into his ears. Finally Du Mengluo opened his eyes and saw a messy tuff of hair resting in the hollow of his neck.

He really does have some hatred for Xue Dan, but Cui Jin likes him. And perhaps it isn't just 'like.' Cui Jin treats Xue Dan like some precious treasure, and to make him happy, even allowed him to call Du Mengluo gege.

Du Mengluo has no living kinsmen. The only person he has a level of kins.h.i.+p with is unexpectedly for the purpose of fulfilling someone else's adoration.

Xue Dan seemed to be dreaming a nightmare, his brows scrunched into a frown.

In the past, Cui Jin hated that he couldn't give him the best of what the world had to offer: soft beds, brocade garments, and jade meals. When had he ever been like this? Sleeping while cold and hungry?

Du Menglou found some pleasure in his misfortune, and he knows it is senseless for what's the point of comparing himself with a fool? From the day Xue Dan entered Yunmeng manor, he knew the other was an undisputed fool.
