Yang Yun let Mingyue cry her heart out, while he tightened his hug and apologized that he did not come for her sooner. Even when her tears dried, and her cry stopped, Mingyue stayed in Yang Yun's embrace. None of them wanted to move.
It has been a while since they have been like that.
Although they have hugged that way when Yang Yun found her in this world, the feeling was not the same.
In the past few months, they were a new couple in love. But right now, they were husband and wife who haven't seen each other for more than six years. They missed each other. Even staying in each others' embrace wasn't enough.
Yang Yun tightened his arms around Mingyue. Afraid that he might hurt her, Yang Yun slowly loosened his embrace. He was holding her like a very precious treasure. Yang Yun put his nose on her hair and inhaled the familiar, yet different fragrance coming from her.
A few minutes pa.s.sed, and Mingyue stirred. Her nose felt stuffy. So, when Mingyue tried to breathe in his scent, she could not smell anything.
After a while, Mingyue noticed that something was wrong.
Yang Yun's s.h.i.+rt was wet from her tears and snot!
Seeing that, Mingyue pulled away from her husband and gasped as she inspected the mess. Their gaze met for a few seconds before Mingyue buried her face back to his chest. She wanted to look at his face, but once Mingyue realized that her eyes and face might be swollen from crying, Mingyue buried her face into his chest even more.
"What are you doing?" Yang Yun asked. There was a hint of joy in his tone. He tried to pull away to look at her face, but his wife only lowered her head further.
"Don't look at me. I'm probably ugly from crying too much," she made a sniffling sound. Find authorized novels in Webnovel, faster updates, better experience,Please click for visiting.
His lips instinctively curled up. "Where are you ugly? My wife is always beautiful."
"Don't lie," Mingyue said. "Anyway, you cannot look at me right now."
"When did I lie to you?" Yang Yun placed a kiss on her hair. "Didn't they say beauty lies in the eye of the beholder? In my eyes, you will always be beautiful."
"When did you learn sweet talking?"
Yang Yun chuckled. "Mingyue?"
A few seconds pa.s.sed before Mingyue made a sound. "Un."
"Let me look at your face, alright?"
"No," Mingyue hesitated. "Just, give me a few minutes."
"But I miss you," Yang Yun said. "Don't you miss me too?"
Jiang Mingyue clenched her fist on Yang Yun's s.h.i.+rt. Slowly, she pulled away and looked up. Their gaze met again. This time, Mingyue did not try to look elsewhere. Instead, she started to study his face. His face has indeed grown more refined. Her brow furrowed slightly at the sight of new scars on his face.
Subconsciously, Mingyue began to trace her fingers on his face. It started at his eyebrow, then his eyes, nose, and lips. "When did you grow this good looking?" she asked.
Yang Yun smiled at her question. He bent his head and kissed his wife's swollen eyes. As Mingyue was studying his face earlier, Yang Yun was observing her every move and expression. His eyes heart swollen with joy as he continued to stare at her face.
"Yang Yun?"
"Hmm?"
"Yang Yun…"
His lips curved into a wide smile. "Yes."
"Yang Yun!"
"I'm here." He tightened his arms around her body to a.s.sure her that he was not going to leave her side.
Mingyue smiled at the contact. How can she not understand what her husband was trying to convey? She licked her lips and swallowed. "How did you find me? How did you get into this world?"
"It's a long story."
"Well, make it short."
Yang Yun chuckled at her response. "Second Brother found a lost tribe from Sui Country. They have ways to travel to different time and s.p.a.ce."
Mingyue stared at him with wide eyes. "The Nanlin Tribe? I heard Second Brother spoke about them a few times. He said those people in the tribe have ways to cure every poison." Mingyue let out a gasp when she realized something. "How is the Princess? Did you deliver the herbs to grandfather in time? Is the poison in her body cured?"
"The Princess is in good health. The poison in her body had disappeared," Yang Yun said. "I took the herbs back to grandfather once you vanished."
The smile on Yang Yun's face gradually disappeared as he recalled that day. People around him thought that he was heartless because he chose to return to the city with the herbs instead of staying around to search for his wife.
"You did a great job," Mingyue leaned in and kissed him on his chin. "I know you wouldn't disappoint me."
The poison in the princess' body did not disappear with the help of those herbs. However, Yang Yun decided that that was another story for another time.
Yang Yun could only smile in helplessness as a respond.
Jiang Mingyue tilted her head as she continued to watch him. " Yang Yun," her voice was soft. "I'm sorry."
"What are you sorry for?" He patted her hair softly.
Mingyue lowered her gaze. "I know it must be tough on you on the day I suddenly disappeared. I'm sorry. I should have listened to you and everyone else. I shouldn't be the one who dug out the herbs. You and Second Brother had reminded me a few times. When I found the herbs, I should let someone else dig it out. But I did not listen. I was too excited when I found the herbs. In the end, it caused us-"
Her words were left unfinished. Mingyue could only stare at Yang Yun with a puzzled gaze as he put his finger on her lips.
"It's all in the past. I don't care about it," Yang Yun said. His gaze softened as he continued to stare at hers. "What's important was that, now, you are here. Right beside me." He pulled her back into his embrace and said, "Just promise me that you will never leave my side again."
