What do you know… I'm confused af with WordPress but here's the latest update. There's a side story that I think I might finish in a few days if I'm not too busy.

HE WAS CORRECT TO HIDE HIS POWERS

“Once you have completed making a card, you need to come over here.”

We were guided to the end of the counter once we have our cards made by the receptionist. I wonder what else must we comply as we follow the woman when she suddenly laid a board on the table that's about 30 centimeters long with a small crystall ball embedded in it.

“This is the next step.”

“What do you mean by this?”

Previously when I made my card, everything was completed right after it was stamped by the guild. When I asked her about this, the receptionist's eyes widened for a bit.

“Eh. For you to not know about the magic board… Perhaps this is your first time making a card? Now everything makes sense. As I thought, it was even stranger than your joke about being a Prophet.”

This may be a subtle misunderstanding but I guess in another way I can say that it's my first time making a guild card with the job cla.s.s Spirit Magician, it's fine either way. I knew from the letters I received how many reforms took place in the guild after the war but I may have been away from the guild for too long. It's needless to talk about the past so I've decided to hear more of her explanations.

“Ahem, excuse my absent-mindedness. I forgot to tell you that one of the Hundred Heroes is an adviser to the Guild Master. He invented a very good set of rules and one of them is this magic tool that can create cards and rank people of every job cla.s.s. We rank them from the highest S to the lowest K.”

“Eh, really?”

Now that she mentioned it, I do remember receiving a letter from one of apprentices saying that he invented a magic tool to rank magic in guilds. When I looked at Rinne next to me, she nodded in agreement so I guess this must be it.

“Magic is the basis of an individual's ability. Even if you have great skills and job cla.s.s it would be a detriment if you have weak magic. An adventurers used to rely on their job cla.s.s alone, since in the past there's no such measuring tools like this, so when I started working in the company I often find those kind of accidents due to mismatch of quests but after this magic tool was invented, there were improvements in the guild.”

“Well, people with standards are rea.s.suring for both the people working and the company.”

“Indeed, as Eisen-sama says the company now judges you according to you magic power so that you don't risk yourself doing a dangerous quest. If we don't measure your magic power and by unfortunate chance has weak magic power, of course you'd come to doubt such kind of company that would throw you into a dangerous situation.”

In the past, they only make quest based on mutual trust but if you have a magic tool as a to measure magic power, then it will be advantageous for both sides.

“Because this has made our work easier and our relations.h.i.+ps with the guild and company better… I am so thankful to the Hundred Heroes and to their master who raised them!”

The woman at the reception desk was looking at the sky with a longing look.

——The ones who played actively in these improvements are my apprentices so hearing her mentioning me along with my apprentices was somewhat irrelevant. I laughed a bit in embarra.s.sment though since deep inside I felt so much better hearing more about my apprentices, and I'm having more fun when it's my apprentices were talking about.

“And that's why I'm measuring your magic power. We can do it again but only if you felt like you've gotten stronger.”

“So it's like a promotional test.”

“Yes, that's right.”

While saying so, she placed a flat board on top of the table which she handed me the magic tool while taking out some sheets of paper. There were 5 crystal b.a.l.l.s erected on top of the board and at the right end of it has the words『PLEASE TOUCH HERE』

“Well then, shall we start with Eisen-sama's measurement? You have to touch the right end of the board and put your magic power into it, the more crystals you break the stronger the magic power you have. The number of broken crystals will base your rank. Rank K if you broke the crystal on the right end and Rank G if you broke the crystal at the left end of the board. The average rank of a magician is H so I took this out with that in mind.”

I understand now. So this was the tool that can measure my magic. While I was amused by the tool's mechanism, I channelled my magic weakly through my fingertips to the magic tool but in that moment——

—PAH!

The five crystals before me instantly crumbled down to dust.

“Um, receptionist-san… It seems I have broken all the crystal b.a.l.l.s.”

“T-That's right… Eisen-sama might have a stronger magic power for the crystal b.a.l.l.s to break… E-Eisen-sama just recently received his job cla.s.s after all, right?”

“Y-Yeah, that's right…”

The misunderstanding continues, but it's not also a lie. Well, I'm sure this happened because I'm a prophet, and I've had a considerable amount of magical powers. While I was lost in my thoughts, I saw the receptionist writing down notes on the paper——

“…strength must be dependent on his job cla.s.s… now he must be Rank G or even higher…”

She mumbled while writing down on the paper and it wasn't just her voicing out of her mind—

“Hey, it seems the newcomer's a magician that broke all the crystal b.a.l.l.s.”

“I saw something rare. It usual ends at the last crystal ball in the board.”

From the nearby dining hall, I heard the voices of two men drinking as they cast their eyes on my direction. This magic measurement is probably something like an event, the fact that I'm a newcomer is already well-known. Well, not that it's a big deal so I don't really mind it.

“What shall I do after this, Receptionist-san?”

“Oh… I'm sorry. We'll check your magic power again, here. This one will measure your rank between F to D…”

“Alright.”

I touched the board with 3 crystal b.a.l.l.s before me as I've done before, and instantly——

—PARINPARINPARIN!

Three crystal b.a.l.l.s beautifully broke down.

“What? Huh? All of the crystals have been——”

Along with the receptionist, everyone around us started to raise their voices.

“The newcomer's rank has exceeded Rank D!”

“Hey now, I don't think I've ever seen this man before.”

I feel that more and more people are coming to see me. Basing from their words and expressions around me, it seems that there's rarely been anyone that has exceeded Rank D.

“Um, Eisen-sama. Please check this next board.”

The receptionist rushed to take out the third board and this time, there are four crystal b.a.l.l.s, but what differ this time is the letters『SABC』is printed on the magic tool. This is probably the last one. When I touched the board lightly with my finger and left all the strength in my arms——that alone made reaction on the crystal.

—PIs.h.!.+

The crystal at the right made a sound.

“It made a crack—he's a Rank C!”

“Holy c.r.a.p!”

People around me were gradually went louder, the situation really turned like an event. With this situation escalating to this , I don't think it would be good to stay here for a long time even though I really planned to finish this at once.

“Wow… This one is really a Rank B? W-Well, if that happens, I have to report this special case to the royal palace… But first… I have to calm down…”

The receptionist mumble under her breath, trying to keep her panic in control.

—Huh?

I was chanelling my magic but I was so distracted by the words I heard from her.

“Ah… Where was that report before… I have to see the format of how to make a report to the King… This might be difficult for me who rarely goes out now, I need to buy a book…”

The receptionist continues her mumblings.

—PARIN!

I heard the breaking sound of crystal ball that defines the Rank C.

—This might not be a good idea!

I thought immediately—If I continue to put too much effort into this, the guild might contact the king and cause trouble from there on. It would be better if I do things in moderation, my plan is to journey incognito in my apprentices places and not to bother them.

—That's right! I'm here to get an ID!

There's no need to exert so much energy now, not that it's an emergency, so I pulled out my arm at once.

“The light on the magic board stopped…?”

The light emitting from the crystal b.a.l.l.s in the magic board settled down.

“Now then, the measurement is over… Err, so you are a Rank C, am I right?”

That's right, I stopped my magic power and the broken crystal ball says it's Rank C. The receptionist laughed very happily when she saw it.

“You're amazing, Eisen-sama! You immediately reach Rank C!”

Some spectators around me began to chime in after hearing the receptionists words.

“Oh, that was a great performance, niichan! You're in for a good start.”

“He's a newcomer, a Spirit Magician, moreover he's above average, a Rank C magician!”

They all cheered happily.

“Indeed as everyone was saying, Eisen-sama is really amazing! To receive such results, you must be very talented!”

“ThThank you…”

Somehow, even without bothering my apprentices I still attracted such attention. But with this, I have successfully registered as a Rank C adventurer.
