Is.
That.
I stared, completely shocked at what was in front of me while the hissing grew and grew. The large stem being used as a neck while the plant had a head that made a packman movement. Razor sharp teeth causing a s.h.i.+ver to run down my spine before it made a move for me once again.
It was to slow as I leaped out of the way ready to attack but clearly remembering that my test was to help it, not harm it.
The large Piranha Plant was a deep green and had several brown spots on the stem and bud, looking a little like it wasn't doing so well but if the plant had a name. Then this plant to have been cared for.
I could see my reflection in the white pearly canines, causing a s.h.i.+ver to run down my spine when I wished for Zavier to be with me right at the moment.
Stop thinking about him, Faye.
Think.
What could I do to gain its trust?
An idea popped in my head before I summoned a flute, wondering if I still remembered the hypnotizing songs and rhythms I knew from before I left my training. Bringing the instrument to my lips, I softly blew into the flute as it came down for another attack.
Thankfully it stopped midway, hearing the soft tunes I was playing while my fingers moved diligently and my legs had taken control on their own. Walking in slow circles around the plant and drawing in other living beings into the songs I was playing.
The lullaby I was playing for the plants and animals even drew in nearby mages and child who were playing in the garden. Each of them surprised at the soothing tunes that had calmed the violent plant into a clam one.
It made me wonder whether Archmage Lily gave me this test to actually test my abilities or take care of a plant that was feared by all the other mages. Either way, I was determined to take control of something whether it was a measly plant or animals around me.
To be honest, I wasn't sure this was going to work but here I am. Not being eaten alive by all these creatures.
Thank G.o.d for those private lessons I took when I was in the league.
Once the song was over, I allowed my instrument to disappear and glanced up at the plant and noticed that it was still just as calm as before. I rose my hand, waiting for it to come to me before making another more.
"I won't harm you. Sorry for my reaction moments ago. If you allow me to, I'd like to help you grow and find the sunlight." I offer to the plant, unsure if it could even understand me as it nudged my hand and backed away.
It retracted to its pot and stood promptly tall while I smiled and nodded in acceptance. My eyes traced the top of the greenhouse, seeing that it was a closed window that prevented the sunlight from coming inside.
I used some of my magic to pull out the sky windows, letting the sunlight pour through and hit Philis. The plant seemed very pleased with the new found light while I whistled for its attention.
I wouldn't want to be attacked if I walked closer to help it grow or something. I haven't thought this far and honestly I was ready to fail the test when first seeing the plant.
"Alright, Philis... I am going to help you grow even if I have no idea how to do that, but I will give you some nutrients in your soil to help your growth." I shrug, taking slow steps towards the large plant as it minded its own business and enjoyed the summer rays.
I placed both of my hands on the pot, thinking for a moment before whispering a strengthening and grow spell that had added to the nutrients of the soil the dangerous plant was settled in. To be honest, I had no idea whether this was what I was supposed to do but I tried my best.
E for effort, I guess.
Carefully backing away, I allowed the plant to indulge in the sun and walked away quietly trying not to draw attention to myself. I continued walking and pa.s.sed by several little creatures before meeting up with Archmage Lily and the others.
"Done already?" She asks, playing with the kitten still when I scratched my head and nodded.
"Yes. Your plan- I mean. Philis is doing much better. I used my instrumental abilities to calm the atmosphere before adding nutrients to his soil." I explained to her, her eyebrows quirking upwards.
"Instrumental abilities? You play?" She questions me a little excited when I nod and crossed my arms.
"Yeah. Flute and piano." I answer, a little prideful from being able to sooth other with my music but not finding many opportunities to play.
"Interesting!" Lily got up from the ground, patting my arm when grinning ear to ear. "I will check on my Philis later. My test is over with. Lovely job." She says before Archmage Nexus jumped up from the ground and propped his hands on his waist.
"My turn finally! I have many things to do today, but this will finally be my time to s.h.i.+ne before I have to leave. I teach to build and destroy, also in order to do these abilities you have to have a clear mind. So, in order to make my test a lot more challenging. I am bringing your mate to destroy some things for me. He and High Priestess Dawn are outside waiting for all of us." Once he was done talking, my whole body went rigid at the thought of Zavier standing outside.
I almost wished Philis ate me now.
The other Archmages left expect for Seria, noticing my distressed expression and taking a few steps towards me.
"Come on. He'll have to go through me to touch you." She a.s.sures me, strangely being kind to me recently when I nodded and took a deep breath and following her outside.
We walked side by side outside, my eyes zoning into Zavier's glare. His murderous looks causing me to inwardly turn into myself but I straightened my back in the false hope of looking like he didn't bother me.
"Alright. Zavier it is? I am Archmage Nexus and I would love if you could destroy this wall as much as you could." Archmage Nexus introduces while Zavier turned his attention to him and nodded and glanced over at the wall.
He didn't say anything, walking over to the wall before he threw his fists into the stone. Effectively breaking some of the walls while repeatedly hitting it, the wall crumbling and having several holes around it as he kicked the large from the center.
A large concrete stone fell over as a large hole almost twice my size stood in front of all of us. I couldn't help myself from feeling intimidated by the power behind each of his. .h.i.ts, knowing that the main reason they were so powerful was because of the anger he felt towards me.
He was breathing hard, a few drops of blood running down his knuckles causing my stomach to churn in worry for him. It took all my willpower to prevent myself from rus.h.i.+ng over to him and heal him, but I knew doing that would only cause more issues.
"Great job. Now, Faye. Fix this." Archmage Nexus simply said as all eyes turned on me making me cower into myself. My heartbeat increased drastically when I took a few steps towards the wall, trying to ignore the fact that Zaiver was mere steps away from me.
"Breath. You've got it." Archmage Seria whispers to me while I followed her instructions and brought my hands up to the damaged wall. My thoughts and mind filled with Zavier and his lies, my hands slightly shaking as I collected my energy and concentrated on building the wall back to its original form.
His eyes burned the side of my face making me want to crawl in a hole but I held my ground, trying to keep my cool. I felt myself tearing up at the memory of our fight as I tried forcing it from my mind, knowing it would not help to repair something if I was thinking of destruction.
Pus.h.i.+ng everything from my head, I reopened my eyes and brought my hands together and held my palms out in front of me. Slowly, I turned my hands counterclockwise in order to rewind what had just happened to the wall.
I knew this wasn't what he wanted, but I already knew I wouldn't have a clear mind so this was the next best thing.
After a few minutes, the wall was back to its original state with no holes or pieces of concrete on the ground. My breath was slightly labored as I dropped my hands and turned around to face a bewildered Archmage Nexus and four other shocked Archmages.
"You said I needed a clear mind in order to repair and you brought him out here knowing it would throw my game off even more. You were wrong though, I don't need a clear mind if I can reverse the time on the wall and its status." I said between pants when High Priestess Dawn clapped her hands happily.
"My soulmate will be so happy to hear you can manipulate time like that! How long did it take you to learn that? And how were you taught such difficult magic?" She asks excitedly when my eyes connected with Zaviers, refusing to let his gaze down.
"I was sixteen when I learned the skill. And I wasn't taught it. I hexed someone and needed to reverse the effects. But I still got horrible consequences." I admit to them, her eyes widening at my confession as I looked away. "Don't worry. I don't do such things anymore." I promise, feeling dirty all of a sudden.
"I know dear. I'm sorry. It slipped my mind that I knew about your experiences." She apologizes when I refused to look in her direction, knowing that Zavier was disgusted with the news.
"It's my turn now." Archmage Seria says while I glanced up at her and noticed her standing in front of me. "Hit me with the strongest magic you have. If you can get past my s.h.i.+eld vise versa, then you pa.s.s." She told me, walking a few steps away from me and facing me once again.
I watched as she put her s.h.i.+eld up, not bothering to use more energy other than the minimal amount she needed while I cracked my knuckles and threw a flame at her.
Surprisingly, it didn't even phase her s.h.i.+eld irritating me when I threw a current of electricity this time. The only thing that happened this time was that the bolt bounced off the s.h.i.+eld and zapped someone else.

"What the h.e.l.l...?" I question under my breath unsure what to do now as I collected all the energy into my palms and condensed all the energy into a ball. Cursing a word, I threw all the energy at the s.h.i.+eld as if it was a dodgeball.
Amazing enough, the s.h.i.+eld chipped causing her eyes to spark a little when pulling her s.h.i.+eld down and scratching her head.
"Now we're going to reverse roles. I will try to break through your s.h.i.+eld and you will keep it up as long as you can." When she said that, I felt a little tiny part of myself dying a little. I knew that I wasn't going to be able to withstand a lot of her attacks and the lack of support from Zavier. I knew that I was going to make a fool out of myself.
I snapped up my s.h.i.+eld up, bracing myself for her attack as I got ready knowing she wasn't one to go easy on anyone.
Before I even saw her spell, I felt a ripple of pain run through me while she held her hand out to me. I dropped to the ground and clutched onto my head tightly. Feeling like my skull was caving in as I trembled on the ground.
"Build a s.h.i.+eld in your mind or the pain will grow." She warns darkly, the pain intensifying making me cry out and hit my head against the ground. I tried following her orders, putting a s.h.i.+eld that was only destroyed by her simple efforts.
"Arch-"
"Don't. She needs to learn." Archmage Seria growls in defiance when I tried with everything I had to place a defense strong enough to ward her off. The pain lessened but I still felt it while looking up at her through my hair. Her eyes watched down at mine, her eyes glowing as she held her hand out to me only destroying what I built in my mind.
I pained gasp left me as I felt the pain grow and grow, never loosening even if I was trying to build a defense.
"Let her go. You're using to much strength, Seria." High Priestess Dawn said in a warry voice when I let out another cry in misery.
"She's fine. She is a high mage and can do everything else. She can do this." Archmage Seria says, not even listening to Dawn. My head feeling like it was going to explode while a pair of arms wrapped around me.
"I said let her go. She's not as strong as you think Seria. I won't say it again." High Priestess Dawn threatens when Archmage Seria growls and let go of my mind, my body feeling weak from feeling the pain in my head.
"I almost had it... Try it again." I whisper, knowing I was lying but if I tried again I knew I would be able to block her from my mind.
"No, you didn't Faye. Under that kind of pain any longer and you could have suffered from a concussion. Your test is finished Seria. You're finished today as well, Faye. N-"
"I didn't say I was done." I cut her off, looking up at the person holding onto my shoulders and chocking on my breath. Zavier's green eyes peering down at me coldly while I looked away. "I will be done once I am finished with all my tests. Whether I get a concussion or not. I am not here to play games." I inform her, standing up on my own and feeling him still helping me stand.
"You can barely stand alone." She points out, clearly not used to the defiance.
"Good thing I only have one test left," I said, looking over at Poppy who was holding a face full of uncertainty and worry for me. "I'm ready when you are." My voice held no room for argument annoying the s.h.i.+t out of High Priestess Dawn and satisfying Archmage Seria since I was standing up for myself.
Even if it wasn't good for myself.
I was determined to make better choices for not only myself but for my future as well.
Maybe this will show Zavier how much I am willing to fight because once I am done here.
I plan to win him back.
