With that Hailey got out and left, she went home and got into her bed. She wondered how she would even sort out her feelings. Would she just know whom to choose, and what if at the end of the day, she didn't want to let them go?
She thought about how Valerian had pleaded with her. Shel remembered his eyes and voice and then on the other hand she remembered Alex's immediate compromise, how he didnt want to lose her and how much of chance he wanted and would also be willing to take the condition of her seeing Valerian too.
Why did this have to be so hard for her? She didn't want to do this, it was not right to string along people's hearts, yet now she didn't know which one to pick. She was too afraid that if she chose now, she would have either dodged a bullet or lost the love of her life.
The next morning came to early for her, she got dressed and headed to work.
The day pa.s.sed by and when nighttime came, Alex came to her office for the first time,
"Can I treat you to dinner?"
"Yes, I would love that."
When they got to the restaurant, they sat down and Hailey immediately tackled the elephant in the room,
"I spoke to Valerian about the offer you made and he didn't take it too well."
"So is it you and me only?" Alex asked hopefully.
"I'm not sure, but at the moment he should be thinking about it. It's not too late for you to back out, you know."
"Hailey I have already told you my answer and I don't intend to take it back. If that's how I can convince you and get to spend time with you, then I will do it."
"Thank you for understanding, I'm sorry that this is all a tangled up mess."
"Just promise me one thing Hailey,"
