Before I go to the kitchen, I take a stop at my room to retrieve some ingredients from my portable warehouse to make the sauce of the beefsteak or usually called gravy. I only take some mushroom and a little b.u.t.ter and also take my knife that used to craving vegetables and fruits. After I get what I needed and return the rest of the b.u.t.ter and mushroom back to my portable warehouse, I continue my direction to the kitchen.

After I arrive in the kitchen, I immediately check how the cooks doing when they continue my preparation for the soup and meat bun. Fortunately, nothing is going wrong and all goes as I already instructed them before. What left now is preparing gravy for the steak and finis.h.i.+ng the prepared ingredients into final dishes. Since there are some ingredients that I don't have right now like Worcesters.h.i.+re sauce, I must improvise by using ordinary soy sauce as a replacement for that Worcesters.h.i.+re sauce.

Gravy ingredients

• 2 tablespoons olive oil

• 1 onion (yellow, white or brown), sliced

• 2 large garlic cloves, minced

• 200 grams of mushrooms sliced

• 3 tablespoons unsalted b.u.t.ter

• 3 tablespoons plain flour

• 2 1/2 cups beef broth or stock

• 2 teaspoons Worcesters.h.i.+re sauce

• Salt and pepper to taste

Cooking instructions

1. Heat oil in the skillet. Add onion and cook for 2-3 minutes until onions are translucent, then add the garlic and cook for a further 30 seconds, or until fragrant.

2. Add the sliced mushrooms into the skillet and cook for 3 minutes until golden and beginning to soften.

3. Reduce heat to medium and melt b.u.t.ter in the skillet. Add flour and cook while stirring for 1 minute, allowing the flour to brown slightly.

4. Slowly and gradually add in the beef broth (or stock), while stirring. Allow simmering for 4-5 minutes, or until thickened. Stir in the Worcesters.h.i.+re sauce and season with salt and pepper to taste.

After the gravy is done, I change into other dishes that already prepared. I want to finish it in an orderly manner so it still warm when served for the dinner later. The soup is the first to finish, followed with the meat bun, and then beef steak will be the last menu to finish since we don't have something like the hot plate in this place. When the time reaches about 30 minutes before dinner usually served, I start to cook the meat that already marinated into beef steak. I fried the meat until the color change into golden brownish and the juice wetting the meat from inside the meat before move it to plates which added with boiled potato, carrot, and beans that already sliced before pouring some hot gravy steak upon it. I prepare seven dishes for my father, uncle Jason, my stepmother and four sisters of mine. So tonight dinner will be consommé soup, meat bun, beef steak, and fruits that I carved into decorated shape while waiting for my cooking finished


The steak that cooked for my younger sister, I cut it into bite-sized chuck to make them easier to eat. After all ready, I told Mrs. Martina to inform that dinner is ready and send the dishes to the dining hall while I finished the dishes for myself and my girls. Just when I finish it, Clara, Claire, and Carina show up in the kitchen to take their dinner. I wave to them to bring the dishes to my room.

"Hey, you come at the right time. Tonight dinner is just finished, carry them to my room"

"Yes young master"

Clara and I bring the steak plates, Claire brings the soup bowl while Carina brings the meat bun and the eating utensil to my room. While they arrange the table, I go to the bathroom to clean up before joining them to have dinner together. We have in our respected seat and start having dinner together. My girls seem delighted to have dinner with me because I had breakfast and lunch with my father in the dining hall.

"Alright girls, let's eat before it gets cold"

When they open the soup bowl, they seem surprised because there's only soup stock in the bowl without anything else inside.

"Henry…this soup…only consist of stock?"

"Hmm…have a taste first, after that you can say your opinion about this soup"

Although they still can't believe tonight soup had nothing but stock inside the bowl, they take their spoon and take a sip from the soup.

"Uwoooo…so delicious!" (Carina)

"Henry! What kind of soup is this? Simple yet so rich with flavor" (Claire)

"It looks pretty with its golden color and the taste also very good" (Clara)

"That's called consommé soup, although only the stock but it contains many essences from ingredients that used to make that soup"

Within a moment their soup bowl already empty, even Carina lick her soup bowl to find the remains of the soup liquid in her bowl. Next thing to eat is the meat bun or Nik.u.man which still warm because just come out from the steamer.

"Mmm…so soft and the meat filling inside also delicious"

They look satisfied after taking a bite on the meat bun.

"Henry…what is this bread called?"

"Hmmm….it's just a meat bun…but if you want this bun to have a name since it looks like Claire b.u.t.tock which so round and meaty, how if we called it 'Claire's b.u.t.t'?"

Claire who still chewing her meat bun want to protest but the bun inside her mouth makes her almost choked and coughing. Clara and Carina, who hear my name suggestion only laughing loud.

"Just joking Claire… Don't take it seriously...here, have some water first"

I give Claire some water to ease her choked condition. Still, with sending sharp glare on me, Claire takes that water and drink it. Well, although only a joke since that time, when they want to eat meat bun and ask me to make it, Clara and Carina always say they want to eat Claire's b.u.t.t.

The steak also highly praised by them and after we finish have dinner, all bowl and plates contents are eaten clean. There's nothing left in their plates, even a crumb of bread or pieces vegetables. That makes me who cook all the dishes feel satisfied with that. When they clean up the table, I told Claire that my father wants to see her after dinner.

"Claire, my father had something to say with you and he asks you to come to see him after this dinner"

"Oh, what is it, Henry? Did I make some mistakes?"

"I don't know about that either. Mr. Nicholas didn't say the purpose my father call you. Don't worry, I will accompany you there"

So after delivering the eating utensil that we just used for dinner to the kitchen, I and Claire go to see my father in his study room.
