Yoona's smile fell. "You're lying."

Minhyun's eyes didn't waver. "I'm not."

Oh G.o.d. He was telling the truth.

Her throat began to tighten and her muscles tensed, s.h.i.+vering as if she was naked on a winter's night. She couldn't believe it. How was that possible? The Moon siblings being murderer? That sounded like a plot from a story. Yet, from Minhyun's expression it was drawn clear that he was not lying.

The memories of all three of them, laughing and chatting came to mind. Jaemin would voice out a joke while Jaeun would retort with a demeaning statement. Some of her happiest university moments involved one of those two. What she saw in them was raw, genuine feelings.

Then these wonderful memories shattered once the betrayal happen. She found out they weren't who they said they were.

Now, one of them could be a potential murderer?

Denial. That was what she expected herself to feel. But for some reason, after her initial shock, his statement slowly became factual in her mind. It wasn't totally unbelievable.

Then her breath came to a stop. For G.o.d's sake. She actually believed one of them could be a murderer. That in itself, was very scary.

Her faith in them completely crumbled after that final blow.

Minhyun would never tell her a statement without some sort of evidence to back it up. Whether or not they killed their sibling didn't matter, it was the fact that they could've. A person isn't accused of being a killer without a reason.

Every little bit of pity she had for them disappeared. There was a line she wouldn't be able to forgive. Something within her cracked. The beautiful, kind-hearted angel felt hate.

To kill their own blood sibling. Was that human?

For once, she began to see the Moon siblings for what they truly were. The scary expression Jaemin made when she entered Minhyun's car a few days ago made so much sense. She didn't hallucinate. The haunting visuals was real, and seeing the dark side of him, made her feel chills all over her body.

But why? Did they truly lack all human emotions? What created them to become this way? There was no pure evil or pure good. Something must've shaped them this way, but what?

Her body wouldn't stop shaking.

Without her realizing, Minhyun had already stood up from his seat. He walked to her side before bringing her body to his embrace. As her head leaned against his upper body, she could feel his warmth surround her.

"It's okay," he whispered.

Yoona shook her head. "It's just - shocking."

Bitter laughter escaped her lips. "You know what's the worst part? I actually felt pity for them. When I covered Jaeun intentionally with garlic to give her hives, I actually felt bad about it." She placed her hands over her face. "I don't know what to feel."

A double-edged sword. Yoona's kindness and sympathy was something Minhyun loved, yet a part of her that other people could manipulate. Finally, the rope that latched her onto all the sympathy she had for them disappeared.

The feint feeling of sadness entered his heart when he realized how hurt Yoona must've been to reach this point, but it was all necessary.

Her eyes looked up to him, the corners lightly brimmed with tears. "I'm asking you one last time. This is not a joke right? There is some sort of evidence pointing to this?"

The "evidence" in regards to Jihee's death was all based on White Masks a.s.sumptions and those doctor's notes. He hadn't looked at the papers himself, nor did he completely believe the child's words, but there was a part of him that wasn't in complete denial.

And this part made him further push the murderer agenda for he cared about Yoona's safety above all.

"It's still too early to point fingers," Minhyun admitted. He didn't want to lie. "But there is a great chance of them being murderers. Even if they weren't, according to their psychologists, after the sisters death, the two haven't been mentally stable. They are dangerous either way."

Yoona shook her head. "Absolutely crazy."

She looked up again. "We're the doctors notes that crazy to have them be suspected as murderers?"

"They were."

It was scary to know that some of the people you thought you knew, were not who they portrayed to be. Her memories twisting into dark lies.

Yoona really had to rethink the amount of trust she gave others. The Moon siblings simply were too much to handle.

Jaemin's haunting face would not leave her mind. The look of a devil.

"This brings me to the question," Minhyun began. In the corner of his eye, he continuously watched Yoona's expression. Trying to decipher her thoughts. "If a person you cared about could be in possible danger what would you do?"

Yoona sent him a puzzled gaze. After talking about something so dark, what was this sudden question.

Either way, she decided to answer. Her answer was obvious. "I would try my best to protect them."

He nodded. "That's what I would do too, which is why I decided to come up with this plan."

The embrace Yoona was in was broken and Minhyun took a step back.

"I know we didn't reunite till recently and that the trust between us hadn't fully established. There is probably still some doubts in your heart about me. The recent betrayal probably played a huge part in your broken trust. However, seeing all this uncover, I can't help but react in this way."

"Yoona," he continued. "While I handle the Moon siblings and figure out a way to subdue them, come live with me."
