from the future leaders of our generation, and if something is not done fast enough, the effect on our nation will be too disastrous for us to bear.
The erroneous traditional beliefs about money which the religious elders have held tenaciously unto down the ages have been handed over to this new generation. Now that the eyes of the elders are opening to the true teachings about money, its young generation should not be left behind.
There is no reason good enough why you should not make money; or why you should not make it while still in school. No excuse is inadequate enough. You must make your money, and start making it while you are still in school.
Below are some of the reasons every student needs to start making money while in school.
1. EVERYBODY NEEDS MONEY
This is the plain truth; the truth, and nothing but the truth. Everybody needs money. The rich and the poor, the tall and the short, the whites and the blacks, the learned and the unlearned, the skillful and the unskillful, the good and the bad, the old and the young, the males and the females, even the circ.u.mcised and the uncirc.u.mcised; all need money. And the category you fall into, that made you pick this book in the first place might be in need of money, much more than all the people in other categories! Students need real cool cas.h.!.+
If everybody needs money, then everybody must make money. Without money, man cannot afford the basic necessities of life. As students, we need money to take good meals thrice a day. We need money to pay school fees. We need money to buy the best baffs. We need money to look good. We need money to buy handouts, textbooks and other study materials. We need money to get a good accommodation on campus. We need money to furnish our rooms in the best shape and desired form. We need money to get a small ride to cruise around campus. We need money to date beautiful and cla.s.sy ladies. We need money to contest for Student Union Elections. We need money to… … …; the list can not be exhausted. Even to get a good placement in the religious circuit on your campus, as sacrilegious as it may sound to both men and G.o.d, you also need money. No one will make a wretched beggarly student the "president" of any fellows.h.i.+p on campus.
So the fact is that we all need money. As students, lack of money will make you envy those who have it. Worse still, this envy may degenerate into an unholy hatred of those who have it and an unholy desire to have, come what may. This is why many students are ma.s.sively engaging in the Internet Fraud Scheme popularly called "yahooyahoo" just to make ends meet.
If you need a thing, and you have an opportunity to make it, then go ahead and make it. Money is not always readily available except to the one who knows how to make it. So make the money, and make it while in school.
2. MONEY SUSTAINS YOU ON CAMPUS
Every student will agree with this singular fact, no matter how rich your parents are, no amount of money you collect from home will be enough to sustain you on campus. You will always need more. This is because money is never enough for the owner.
Man's wants are insatiable, and because of that, the more money he has, the more things he desires to have, and so the more the money he needs to meet up with his skyrocketing standards.
If the Lord comes today and decides to take His saints home, many students will not make it to heaven because of what lack of money on campus has made them delved into since some have engaged in diverse kinds of seemingly insignificant sins.
Lack of enough money is the reason so many students lie to their parents to extract extra dough from them, sucking out all the money they can at any available time, and at every given opportunity. They blow up their school fees; lie about the price of some compulsory textbooks which they may likely never buy; create a false list of things that must be bought for a particular project (which may be a ghost project), beg from uncles, aunties, neighbors, relatives, church members, and anybody 'beg-able' from whenever it is time to return to school. They present excuses that do not exist in order to get extra funds, facilitate help and secure support.
Some steal just to make sure they have enough to sustain them for the period they will have to stay on campus before coming home again to devour what their parents have stacked up in their absence. Every student reading this has likely committed one or more of these offences. Your past actions and your conscience can bear witness to this!
Some even delve into more serious immoral, devilish, heart- breaking, and mind-boggling misdeeds like theft, shoplifting, armed robbery, s.e.x hawking (fornication, adultery, h.o.m.os.e.xualism, lesbianism, prost.i.tution), cultism, and the likes, all in a bid to get more money.
They may directly not be blamed for this since it is an increasingly uphill task to live on campus without enough funds. It is a bitter experience; only those who have been there can testify.
This is not in any way to excuse those who engage in the act, but to let every student know why it is important to learn how to make money, and make it while in school. It will save many from engaging in immoral acts.
3. IT PREPARES YOU FOR THE FUTURE
The best time to start learning about money is right on campus; there is no better time. Everyone desires to live a comfortable and meaningful life when he leaves college/higher inst.i.tution. However, very few prepare for this. It never occurred to them that only proper preparation prevents poor performance.
They go through school, graduate with good grades, and then decide that the next thing to do is to start making money. They dabble into businesses with little or no background in it, with the thought that their degree or certificate will make up for their lack of preparation. It seldom does! Some of them may succeed, but just as you would expect, a whole lot of them will likely fail. Why? They are not prepared to face the future.
A wise student who wants to build an enviable future will start to prepare for it right from his school days when all of his other peers have not yet started giving it a thought. With this, he gives himself a stronger edge ahead of all of his mates. He comes out prepared, polished, and furnished well enough to face the challenges of both the labor market and the future. This is why every student needs to learn how to make money, and make it right in school.
4. SCHOOL SYSTEM DOES NOT TEACH ABOUT IT The school system in this part of the world teaches everything a student is supposed to know except the most important thing - how to make money. As regards this issue, the school system has disappointed us this far. We can no longer rely on it to teach our students the secrets of making money.
It is so unfortunate to know that the post secondary inst.i.tutions - Universities, Polytechnics & Colleges of Education - are some of the few places in the world where practically little or nothing about money is taught. Surprisingly enough, the uneducated market woman learns more in a month about money making than an average undergraduate learns in his four years of stay on campus.
When it comes to financial intelligence, the school should not be seen as the end of discussion, but rather the starting point. For four to six years, a student stays on his campus, attends all his cla.s.ses, listens to both his favorite lecturers and the seemingly disgusting ones, writes all his exams and graduates without having learnt how to make money for himself. The best he learns is how to make money for his employers or how to manage his employer's business, but he learns close to nothing about how to start making his own money for himself. What an irony.
One may think those in the sciences need not learn too much about money. The sincere truth is that the same fate befalls even those in the money related fields i.e. business administration, marketing, finance, banking, accounting etc. All they are taught is how to be a good employee, and not how to be a good employer. It is bad enough for those in the sciences, but what of others?
If you want to learn anything about making money, do not depend on your lecturers in school to teach you; do not be surprised that some of them do not even know how. The ones who claim to know can only tell theories; very few have practically tried their hands on something. All their lives they have only worked for the government and collected their pay at the end of the month. Many of them have no other source of income outside this, and if they lose it, they are ruined. So, how on earth are they expected to teach what they do not know? You can only give what you have. Not more. Not less. This may sound derogatory; but it is the truth, and the blunt truth!
So, if the school system will not teach you about money, better do all in your power to teach yourself all you need to know about it, and that early enough, because you will someday need it. n.o.body will listen to you if your excuse for not making it in life is because you were not taught about money in your high school. This is why you need to learn how to make money, and make it right in school.
5. IT ADVANCES KINGDOM BUSINESS ON CAMPUS The devil knows the disastrous effect it will have on him and his kingdom if he allows wealth to flow into the hands of students. He knows how zealous youths are. He knows the gospel will be proclaimed with all vigor and the kingdom of G.o.d and His dear Son will expand appreciably to the detriment of his own kingdom.
This is why he will do all in his power to keep money away from students. Students no longer can claim ignorance of his devices. If he can succeed in keeping the students in abject poverty, he can, without much stress, keep them from spreading the glorious gospel for which the Lord came to the world for, lived for, died for, resurrected for, and ascended for. He knows that as long as students' organizations remain in lack, utter scarcity, suffering, and insufficiency, they will never be able to take over their campuses for the Lord.
All they need involves money. It takes money to organize outreach programs. It takes money to print fliers, handbills and posters: It takes money to even paste them around campuses: It takes quality money to get quality sound system: It takes money to get good praise leaders: It takes money to get good musical instruments and professional instrumentalists: It takes money to pay guest minister's accommodation bill, feeding bill, honorarium and… … … the list continues.
A number of times, fellows.h.i.+ps will have to form a fund raising committee in order to raise money for their outreaches. These committees, armed with enough "Letters of a.s.sistance" parade the offices of all the big names in and around the city but always meet disappointments. This has become a norm, and most times, the narrow way out is always for the members of such committee to task themselves before such programs are held. Otherwise, it dies a natural death. This should no longer be allowed to continue. This is why students need money, and they need it right in school.
This is the time youths have much time at their disposal to do wondrous works for the Lord. No wife yet; no child yet; no job yet; no serious commitment yet. They have their whole time to themselves. This is the time for great exploits, but it takes money. So we need the money. If students must take over their campuses or exert any significant measure of influence in their immediate community, money can not be set aside.
There is no reason students should not fund their own programs if they have the means. We do not have to start knocking on the doors of the unbelievers for a.s.sistance before we preach the gospel of our Lord. This is why we need to learn how to make money, and make it right in school.
It is exciting to be a believer on campus but it is more enjoyable if you have enough financial muscles so you can afford more than your basic necessities of life and still have enough to give to the needy ones around you.
6. DREAMS DIE WITHOUT MONEY
A large percentage of students on our campuses are geniuses not yet discovered. There are guys and gals who can make waves in respective fields if only they have money to pursue their dreams. Some of them are very good musicians, but they need money to produce their alb.u.ms. Those who are wonderful scriptwriters need money to make the movies. Those who are wonderful authors need money to publish their books. There are even some who are wonderful inventors. They have in their brains discoveries that will make past inventions look like children's toys, but they need money to bring the dream into a reality. Money is needed for researches and experiments.
Approaching different organizations to ask for monetary a.s.sistance to pursue these dreams have been futile ninety percent (90%) of the time. Only a selected few gets that fortunate. It is either you know an influential personality who will give you a letter of recommendation or you forget about the dream. Therefore, many students will not even see this as a reliable alternative.
This way, many dreams die daily in the hands of these students just because there is not enough funds to pursue their dreams. So many dreams have hit the rocks. Ideas that could change the course of the world have been deserted. Books that could become bestsellers are still resting as ma.n.u.scripts on the tables of best-selling authors whom the world has not yet known, and may not get to know if things do not change!
To go through life without accomplis.h.i.+ng your dream simply because there is not enough funds could be devastating. So, what should we do about it? It is quite simple! Just learn how to make the money you need. Such dreams must not be allowed to be shrouded in the frustration of unavailability of enough funds. This is why you need to learn how to make money while in school.
7. IT IS THE BEST TIME TO MAKE MONEY
This is the best time to make money; there is no other. If you do not start to make money now, when will you?
Firstly, this is the time you have enough free funds available at your disposal. Free funds in this context are funds you really do not labor for. It could be money gotten from parents, guardians, relatives, well wishers and the likes.

Secondly, this is the time you will ever have the least financial load on you. There are no children to pay their school fees, there is no wife nor husband to cater for, no employee's salary to pay, and you do not pay taxes on your pocket money; see how lucky you are! All the things that sap money from the older ones are far from you. All these add together to make this period the best time you can make money, save money, and invest money if you really want to.
If you have a vision for a qualitative life in the future, and you really desire it, then you must be ready to pay the price for it, and the price for it is not more than you can pay. You can afford it. Making money is not as difficult as they have made it look. It is quite easy. You just do
the things you need to do (some of them you will learn in this book as you read on) and money will come looking for you. It is that easy.
