When we got to the hotel, the bridegroom was accompanying the bride in the dressing room. The groom, Zhai Jie, met me at a dinner before. He is an alumnus from my school, working in the pathology laboratory and the bride in the pharmacy department.

The bridegroom joked: “Ah, asking Gu Wei to be the best man is really smas.h.i.+ng my own sign board. At that time, someone would take a picture and posted it on the Internet. When she sees the best man, the bride would regret it.”

Gu Wei is going to welcome the guests at the door with the newlyweds, so I went out of the dressing room to help Chen Cong with the candy.

“Sister in law, when will you have your wedding party?”

I looked up at the hall full of flowers, as if I had never thought about this problem.

“You can start thinking about it. “Chen Cong said with a smile, “such a nice man, hurry up so that you won't have to only dream about it at night.”

I laughed and suddenly felt a little strange.

Half of the people at the table I was sitting at was Gu Wei's colleagues, and I was inevitably teased. Everyone was chatting happily when the light in the hall suddenly dimmed, and the MC took the stage. I subconsciously looked at the door, only to see the silhouette of Gu Wei who disappeared in a hurry. When the bride and groom took the stage, Gu Wei came out of the small door on the side of the stage and stood in the dark.

On the stage, the bride and groom are showing their loyalty to each other with the cheers of the crowd. Gu Wei walks back to the groom.

“If you leave your post, you will be fined a drink. ” Bai Mianjun would not back off.

“Come on, he's had enough. ”

Chen Cong: “Do you punish those who leave their posts without permission?”

Bai Mianjun quieted down.

All of a sudden, I saw something. Looking away from Gu Wei, they left, but I caught the bridesmaid's eyes. In the end, I just smiled politely and went back to eat.

“Sister-in-law, eat more. You have to take care of Gu Wei tonight.”

At the end of the last round, Gu Wei disappeared. As soon as I pulled out my cell phone, the phone rang: [I'm taking a rest in the car, felt dizzy.]

I saw that Zhai Jie and his wife had taken their seats at the main table to accompany their elders for dinner, and went out of the hall to the parking lot.

Gu Wei leaned against the back seat with his eyes closed. I get on the car from the other side and stretch out my hand to touch his face: “Gu Wei?”

Gu Wei gave a “Hm..” and put his arm around my waist and leaned against me.

“Doctor, are you drunk?”

After an estimated 20-minute break, Gu Wei's phone rang: “Best man, be ready to come back to see the guests off~”

Gu Wei frowned: “Old Zhai, what's our room number?”

On the way back to his room, Gu Wei asked, “who drank with you?”

“Bai Mianjun, he said he wanted to get to know me.” Chen Cong didn't even stop it.

Gu Wei frowned. “Ignore him next time. ”

The bridesmaids followed us, and went into the next room.

Gu Wei took a shower, had no clean clothes to change, and had nothing to eat at night, and laid in bed– tossing and turning.  I went to a nearby convenience store to buy him milk and bread. When I returned to the hotel, I found Gao Xi standing at our door.

“I got some hangover medicine.”

Gu Wei took the bag in my hand and turned into the room with a faint expression.

“I had taken the medicine before, and it worked.”

I looked at Gao Xi with a smile: “Thank you. Go to bed early. You must be tired today.”

As I close the door, Gu Wei was sitting by the bed, he had drunk the milk and had some milk mustache. The anti-hangover medicine on the tea table has not been opened. I said nothing and went to the bathroom to take a bath. Gu Wei is 30 years old with ‘three highs' and ‘five goods'. Before me, his relations.h.i.+p was completely blank. Even an author could not write such a fairy tale. I don't need to be melodramatic about his past.

The next day, we had breakfast together in the restaurant. Gu Wei took a serving of the newly cooked millet congee, Gao Xi took a dinner plate and followed. Zhai Jie's expression was a little awkward. I continued to eat with my eyes and nose down. But at the corner of my eye, I saw Gao Xi holding Gu Wei's arm. I felt a stab in my heart.

After eating, I bid farewell to Zhai Jie and his wife, as well as their parents, relatives, and friends, and Gao Xi returned with our car. The atmosphere in the car was a bit stuffy. I sat on the co-pilot seat and watched the roadside trees sliding past the window.

When getting off the interchange, Gao Xi in the back seat said softly, “Gu Wei, drive slowly.”

“Hmm.”

We pa.s.sed three traffic lights.

Gu Wei said, “are you still at that T-junction?”

“Yes. ”

After Gao Xi got out of the car, none of us spoke, and the car was so quiet that there was only the sound of traffic coming in from the outside.

When the car got into the tunnel, it got dark. I looked away from the driver next to me, as if I had been stabbed in the heart.

Pretending to be a good sleeper is the only survival skill that even my Mother can't see through. With my eyes closed, I calmed down the sore and aching things in my chest and woke up at the intersection in front of the apartment complex on time.

“Wake up. ”

“Tired?”

“Yeah. ”

I pushed the door and got off. Then slowly walked back.

Once I thought I was an un-possessive person, but now I find that I'm not. I just haven't liked something that much, so I didn't take it to heart. However, in the face of Gu Wei, although I didn't expect him to have ‘no past', I suddenly wish his ex-girlfriend to be in another job, another city, another world.
