Malfoy woke up with a start and sat up in his bed. His arm was in a sling due to the incident with Buckbeak. However, it was worn only for looks to exaggerate his injury.
"The h.e.l.l is going on outside," he thought glumly and walked to the window, only for him to frown.
He rubbed his eyes, feeling like he must have seen wrong due to being tired, before looking again. His face turned pale as he looked at the school grounds...
Or what's left of it anyway...
The once green gra.s.s was now all burned to a crisp, deep crater-like holes were everywhere, there were noticeable frost marks that made a stark contrast to the burnt grounds and lighting kept striking down onto the field every ten or so seconds, creating the sound that woke Malfoy up.
He stood there blank-faced before falling to the ground with a thud, fainting.
...
"Is it over Nyx?" Vincent asked, safely in his hut. He looked just as bad as the grounds outside, clothes singed with a large hole at the chest and his hair spiking up with bits of frost in it. Nyx gave an 'O' shaped sign with her hands, signaling the coast was clear.
Vincent took a peek out the door and made a complicated expression as he looked at the ruined school grounds. He carefully walked towards a few twigs and started rummaging through it before finding a small red gem. He repeated this action of his, collecting a yellow, white and finally light blue gem, all cracked, and pocketed it.
"Maybe no one would know it was me...?" Vincent thought hopefully before feeling a large chilling pressure standing behind him.
"Vincent, Wong," the two words were spoken slow, steady, and full of power. Vincent stood as straight as a pole as he turned stiffly to see Snape, McGonagall, Flitwick, and many other teachers, all glaring at him.
"Morning Professors," Vincent weakly smiled, "nice morning isn't it?"
"Oh yes, what a wonderful day to wake up," McGonagall said with a noticeable stain in her voice, "Nice grey clouds that rain thunder, snow in September, grounds that looked like demons themselves have walked upon and craters that seem...I don't even know how to describe it, but yes, ignore all that and it is indeed a 'nice morning' isn't it Mr. Wong?"
A lightning bolt struck a distant tree, making collapse. McGonagall glared at the sky before muttering a spell that was fired into the air. Soon, the clouds started to disperse, revealing the bright blue skies that were hidden behind.
"Uhh, it could be worse," Vincent immediately regretted his words as he felt the gazes of everyone present on him. McGonagall went completely silent and turned to Snape who glanced back with an equally blank expression.
"Severus, I would like to issue the punishment if you don't mind," Professor McGonagall said to Snape who nodded in agreement.
"Do as you wish," Snape then grabbed the back of Vincent's cuff and lifted him. He then began walking towards the castle, "first a meeting with the Headmaster is in order."
"Ow, Professor, my neck hurts," Vincent said as he was dragged off, "ahh, you're choking me, I'm going to die, Professor, you can put me down now, I can walk my self you know. I appreciate the lift, but there's no need to strain yourself..."
All the teachers sighed while Flitwick looked gleeful.
"Alright pay up everyone," All the teachers looked at him, "Vincent caused trouble on the first week back, now pay up."
McGonagall and several other teachers glared at Flitwick before pa.s.sing over several galleons to the now happy man. If Vincent knew that someone had bet on him causing trouble in the first week, he'd probably cry.
...
"So..."
Vincent looked at Professor Dumbledore who looked back with an amused expression on his face.
"So...Vincent, would you mind explaining the events leading up to this...disaster?" Dumbledore leaned back in his chair while Fawkes the Pheonix squawked.
Vincent scratched his head, "Well..."
...
((...One Hour Ago...))
Vincent stood at the school fields with a complicated expression on his face as he looked down at his hut from afar. Vincent had gotten up early so he could exercise using the method Snape had only for him to stop dumbfounded at the sight before him.
"What did I do?" Vincent muttered, feeling miserable, "Why can't anything go right for me?"
Around Vincent's hut stood five root-like figures that resembled a person walking aimlessly around, each one of a different color.
One had hot red leaves and dark brown roots that had ash-like dust flickering out of it. One was an icy blue color with frost spreading across the grounds as it walked. Another had bright yellow branches and leaves that seemed to fill the air with a faint spark, charring the ground it stepped on. Then there was a pure white root figure that seemed normal at a glance, but if one looked closer they would see that the area around it was pushed down somewhat by a force of some kind. Finally, there was the most normal-looking of the bunch, having the usual color palette of a plant, brown roots, and green leaves. This one had no features that could be seen with the naked eye, but Vincent felt like it was just as dangerous as the others.
He felt like crying.
"No time for tears," Vincent said to himself, "I need to get rid of them before someone sees."
Especially Snape, Vincent did not want to go through another scolding. He carefully approached the green one as it looked the most normal. Only once he reached the twenty-meter mark did it react, turning sharply. Vincent looked at what looks like it's head which started splitting open into a horrific smile, making Vincent's eyes go wide.
"c.r.a.p!" Vincent watched as it lifted it's head and made a horrific screech as it rushed at him.
Vincent ran back, rolling underneath a swing of its arm, and kicked the willow man, smas.h.i.+ng through it's supposed stomach. Vincent felt relieved before feeling his leg being grabbed and seeing the smile of the willow. The damage that Vincent had inflicted also started to close up.
"Oh come on-!" Vincent complained as he was thrown across the field, hard.
Fortunately, the ground wasn't hard so Vincent didn't receive too big an injury as he tumbled across the gra.s.s. He groaned as he got up and looked at the willow man which seemed to have returned to its vegetable-like state.
"Only attacks once I'm in range, got it," Vincent noted while scratching his head. He dusted himself before looking up with determination, "it doesn't seem very durable, let's try this again."
Vincent pulled out two silver knives and approached the willow again. When he stepped into the twenty-meter range, the willow once again came at him with that h.e.l.lish smile.
Vincent took a deep breath before slas.h.i.+ng off its outstretched arm. He kicked it's legs out from underneath it before going for its legs with the knives, only for him to feel something grab and pull him to the ground. He struggled to turn his head and found that the cut off limb had attached itself to the ground and grabbed onto his s.h.i.+rt.
He slashed at it, setting himself free and stood up to find that the willow had gotten back up and made a grab for him again.
"Just die already!" Vincent thought as he slashed right through the place where a person's chest would have been.
He got ready for another attack only to realize that it stopped.
"What the?" Vincent muttered. He stayed in a position ready to counterattack for a while, making sure it stopped moving before he started to observed the willow. He checked the slash on its chest and noticed something glowing at the center. He broke it open further to spot a green orb-like gem, now cracked due to his strike.
"So this is its heart or something?" Vincent thought as he pocketed the cracked gem, "Now this is something to look into later. At least it'll be easier since I now know how to destroy them."
He was wrong.
(...Back to Present...)
"So you destroyed one," Dumbledore said thoughtfully, "but how did the school grounds end up in such a way?"
"Each Walking Willow," Vincent paused, "I think I'll call them that. Well, each one had a different ability. Red had fire, yellow lighting, blue ice, and then there was the most troublesome one, white."
"Go on," Dumbledore's eyes twinkled with interest.
"It had a strange ability to 'push' anything away without touching it," Vincent paused, "story will be too long if I go into detail so here's the short version."
"Fought the White Willow, forced me into the range of Red Willow. White Willow caught up to me and forced me into the range of Blue Willow. At this point, Red Willow started fighting White Willow while I fought the Blue Willow. Red Willow was sent flying into the range of Yellow Willow. At this point, I escaped but only barely as you can see." Vincent said as he indicated to his wrecked state.
For the first time in a long while, Dumbledore showed a slightly dumbfounded expression at the somewhat unbelievable sequence of events, "Did it really happen like that?"
"Exactly like that. I escaped into my hut when they all started going at each other. So they kept on fighting for a full hour," Vincent explained miserably, "blowing up a good chunk of the school grounds before they collapsed from all the damage. At some point, they must have all entered each other's detection range and done a free-for-all."
"That's some...ordeal you've gone through," Dumbledore said with a rare tone of disbelief in his voice. Even for a wizard as powerful as he, felt that the story was somewhat unbelievable, "may I see these gems?"
Vincent handed Dumbledore a green gem which had a slight glow to it, it's cracked surface visible.
Dumbledore looked at it for a good while before getting a needle and cut his finger slightly. He then placed the gem over it and raised an eyebrow. He watched in amazement as the wound closed back up without so much as a scratch.
"Regenerative properties," Dumbledore muttered.
"A rare item indeed," Dumbledore said as he pa.s.sed the gem back to Vincent who looked at it, "useless to wizards who can heal themselves, but..."
"Another tool that Muggles can use," Vincent finished as he picked it up, "I seem to be finding stuff like this everywhere."
"Could be fate," Dumbledore began before Vincent interrupted.
"With all due respect Professor," Vincent said with a conflicted expression, "I don't like to put my faith in fate."
Dumbledore looked directly at Vincent and nodded, "Well, now let's get back to the issue at hand," Dumbledore put his hands together, "why didn't you use the rods? I'm pretty sure that they would have the necessary power to negate the magic in those willows."
"When I thought to use them, it was too late, all of them had gathered to fight each other, throwing all sorts of c.r.a.p to the point where getting close would be suicide," Vincent grumbled, "and to be completely honest, I was curious as to what they could do, since I created them and all."
Dumbledore gave a knowing look, "Well, I think we're about done here. Professor McGonagall will inform you when your punishment is decided upon."
"Yes, sir," when Vincent reached the door, Dumbledore called for him again.
"How's Harry by the way?" Vincent turned around with a raised eyebrow, "Not getting into any trouble is he?"
"Harry is doing well," Vincent answered, "although, he is a little on edge because of Sirius Black, going to Divination cla.s.ses didn't help either."
Vincent then paused as a sudden thought came to him, he looked Dumbledore and asked, "Did Sirius Black graduate from Hogwarts?"
"Yes, yes he did," Dumbledore's eyes looked sad.
"When was it?"
"1978," Dumbledore answered before raising an eyebrow, "curious aren't we?"
Vincent shrugged, "Just had a theory on why people think Black is after Harry."
"And you don't?" Dumbledore asked with interest.
"Something doesn't add up for me and I don't like to judge people I haven't met," Vincent said as he opened the door, "but regardless, if his plans involve harming anyone of my friends, he won't get away with it."
...
"Wheres Vincent?" Ron asked as he chomped down on his bacon, "Haven't seen him this morning."
It was Thursday morning, two whole days since the incident and the schoolyards were still in the middle of being repaired. The news was spread to every inch of the school and it's been mentioned in nearly every student's conversation.
"Professor McGonagall had issued his punishment," Hermione said as she sat down next to them. She sighed, "honestly, he's done this two years in a row now..."
"And we're preparing for a third spectacular display of the Mad Chef!" Fred interrupted Hermione as he came around with George and Lee Jorden.
"And a forth!" George continued.
"And a fifth—"
"And a six—wait, we won't be around by then will we?" George took on a thoughtful look, "or maybe Vincent will move on from the good ol' school grounds."
Fred sighed, "Hogwarts is finished—"
"—he'll burn it to the ground—"
"—blow it up—"
"Or both!" They both said together, making others wonder whether or not they rehea.r.s.ed it beforehand.
"You guys know he wouldn't do that!" Hermione argued before her voice turned into a whisper, "Maybe?"
"So what's Vincent's punishment anyway?" Harry asked.
"Arnya told me that he's cleaning the second floor," Hermione said as she placed some eggs on her plate.
"Which part?" Ron asked casually as he stuffed another serving of bacon on his plate.
"All of it."
Ron choked on his food while everyone else stared wide-eyed with their mouths hanging open in shock.
"Are you kidding?!" Harry said wide-eyed, "the second floors huge and it has Myrtle in it!"
"He did blow up the school grounds," Hermione said.
"Who's side are you on Hermione?!" Ron asked as the bell rang, "Well, we've got Defence Against the Dark Arts now, let's hurry up and get some seats, maybe Vincent will be there."
The cla.s.sroom was empty when they got there so people chatted and got their books and parchment out ready for cla.s.s to start. After some time, the door opened and a tired-looking Vincent wobbled in the cla.s.sroom with Arnya wheeling behind.
"Vincent, Arnya!" Hermione called out from the front seat, "Over here!"
Arnya wheeled herself next to Hermione's table while Vincent sat next to her.
"Did you finish cleaning the second floor?" Ron asked from the seat behind.
Vincent responded by smacking his head against the table, exhausted. Everyone stared at him.
"He's just tired," Arnya said as everyone looked at him with pity.
"Did anything happen while cleaning?" Hermione asked Arnya who looked thoughtful.
"Not much, oh, I made friends with a ghost called Myrtle," Arnya said, "heard some interesting stories of her adventures traveling through the school pipes. Mostly of things she overheard for the pipes leading to the boy's toilets."
All the boys that heard that felt chills hearing that someone could be eavesdropping on them in the toilet.
"Is...that so," Hermione said slowly before hearing the door open.
Lupin had finally arrived. Lupin smiled vaguely and placed his tatty old briefcase on the teacher's desk. He was as shabby as ever but looked healthier than he had on the train, as though he had had a few square meals.
"Good afternoon," he said, "would you please put all your books back in your bags. Today's will be a practical lesson. You will need only your wands."
"Everyone seems excited," Vincent noted the curiosity in the student's faces.
"Apart from Lockhart's cla.s.s with pixies (Nyx hissed at the name) this is our first practical lesson," Hermione explained the curious looks in the cla.s.s.
"Right then," said Professor Lupin, when everyone was ready, "If you'd follow me."
Puzzled but interested, the cla.s.s got to its feet and followed Professor Lupin out of the cla.s.sroom. He led them along the deserted corridor and around a corner, where the first thing they saw was Peeves the Poltergeist, who was floating upside down in midair and stuffing the nearest keyhole with chewing gum. Peeves didn't look up until Professor Lupin was two feet away; then he wiggled his curly-toed feet and broke into song.
"Loony, loopy Lupin," Peeves sang, "Loony, loopy Lupin, loony, loopy Lupin—"
"I'd take that gum out of the keyhole if I were you, Peeves," he said pleasantly, "Mr. Filch won't be able to get in to his brooms."
Filch was the Hogwarts caretaker, a bad-tempered, failed wizard who waged a constant war against the students and, indeed, Peeves. However, Peeves paid no attention to Professor Lupin's words, except to blow a loud wet raspberry.
Professor Lupin gave a small sigh and took out his wand.
"This is a useful little spell," he told the cla.s.s over his shoulder, "please watch closely."
He raised the wand to shoulder height, said, "Waddiwasi!" and pointed it at Peeves.
With the force of a bullet, the wad of chewing gum shot out of the keyhole and straight down Peeves' left nostril; he whirled upright and zoomed away, cursing.
"Cool, sir!" said Dean Thomas in amazement.
"Thank you, Dean," said Professor Lupin, putting his wand away again, "Shall we proceed?"
"He's already remembered the student's names," Vincent thought, feeling respect, along the rest of the cla.s.s, for the shabby-looking teacher.
Lupin led them down a second corridor and stopped, right outside the staffroom door.
"Inside, please," Professor Lupin, opened the door and stood back.
The staffroom, a long, paneled room full of old, mismatched chairs, was empty except for one teacher. Professor Snape was sitting in a low armchair, and he looked around as the cla.s.s filed in. His eyes were glittering and there was a nasty sneer playing around his mouth. As Professor Lupin came in and made to close the door behind him, Snape said, "Leave it open, Lupin. I'd rather not witness this." He got to his feet and strode past the cla.s.s, his black robes billowing behind him. At the doorway, he turned on his heel and said, "Possibly no one's warned you, Lupin, but this cla.s.s contains Neville Longbottom. I would advise you not to entrust him with anything difficult. Not unless Miss Granger is hissing instructions in his ear."
"I think Neville will do fine Professor," Vincent said out loud as he patted a red-faced Neville's shoulder.
Snape narrowed his eyes at his apprentice.
"I was hoping that Neville would a.s.sist me with the first stage of the operation," Lupin said, "and I too believe that he will perform it admirably."
Snape kept his eyes on Vincent and nodded before walking out and shutting the door behind him.
"Thanks, Vince," Neville said gratefully.
"No problem, but to be honest, you should stand up for yourself more," Vincent said while Neville hung his head. Vincent gave him another pat, "just have more faith in yourself."
Neville nodded before freezing, "D-did Lupin ask for me to help?"
"Hm, yeah?"
Neville's face went pale with nervousness as they listened to Lupin.
"Now, then," said Professor Lupin, beckoning the cla.s.s toward the end of the room, where there was nothing but an old wardrobe where the teachers kept their spare robes. As Professor Lupin went to stand next to it, the wardrobe gave a sudden wobble, banging off the wall, "nothing to worry about," said Professor Lupin calmly because a few people had jumped backward in alarm. "there's a Boggart in there."
Most people seemed to feel that this was something to worry about. Neville gave Professor Lupin a look of pure terror, and Seamus Finnigan eyed the now rattling doork.n.o.b apprehensively.
"Boggarts like dark, enclosed s.p.a.ces," said Professor Lupin, "Wardrobes, the gap beneath beds, the cupboards under sinks — I've even met one that had lodged itself in a grandfather clock. This one moved in yesterday afternoon, and I asked the headmaster if the staff would leave it to give my third years some practice."
"So, the first question we must ask ourselves is, what is a Boggart?"
Hermione's hand shot up but was just a moment to slow.
"Yes, Vincent," Lupin said.
"Boggarts are shapes.h.i.+fters that turn into a person's worst fear," Vincent explained. He noticed Hermione glaring at him and smiled.
"Bit fast for you?" Vincent teased in a quiet voice making Hermione huff in annoyance.
"Very good," Lupin said happily, "So the Boggart sitting in the darkness within has not yet a.s.sumed a form. He does not yet know what will frighten the person on the other side of the door. n.o.body knows what a Boggart looks like when he is alone, but when I let him out, he will immediately become whatever each of us most fears."
Vincent heard Neville gulp and glanced over to see him looking terrified.
"This means," Professor Lupin said, "that we have a huge advantage over the Boggart before we begin. Have you spotted it, Harry?"
Harry glanced at Hermione who had her hand shot up, ready to answer the question in case Harry didn't.
"Er — because there are so many of us, it won't know what shape it should be?" Harry said, unsure of himself.
Hermione put down her hand with some dejection with Arnya patting her back.
"Precisely," said Professor Lupin, and Hermione put her hand down, looking a little disappointed. "It's always best to have company when you're dealing with a Boggart. He becomes confused. Which should he become, a headless corpse or a flesh-eating slug? I once saw a Boggart make that very mistake — tried to frighten two people at once and turned himself into half a slug. Not remotely frightening. The charm that repels a Boggart is simple, yet it requires force of mind. You see, the thing that really finishes a Boggart is laughter. What you need to do is force it to a.s.sume a shape that you find amusing.
"We will practice the charm without wands first. After me, please... riddikulus!"
"Riddikulus!" said the cla.s.s together. Vincent joined in even though he knew the spell would be totally useless for him.
"Good," said Professor Lupin, "very good. But that was the easy part, I'm afraid. You see, the word alone is not enough. And this is where you come in, Neville."
The wardrobe shook again, though not as much as Neville, who walked forward as though he were heading for the gallows.
"Right, Neville," Professor Lupin said calmly, "first things first: what would you say is the thing that frightens you most in the world?"
Neville's lips moved, but no noise came out.
"I didn't catch that, Neville, sorry," said Professor Lupin cheerfully.
Neville looked around rather wildly, as though begging someone to help him, then said, in barely more than a whisper, "Professor Snape."
People started laughing with Vincent snorting into his sleeve. Professor Lupin looked thoughtful.
"Professor Snape... hmmm... Neville, I believe you live with your grandmother?"

"Er—yes," said Neville nervously, "but—I don't want the Boggart to turn into her either."
"No, no, you misunderstand me," said Professor Lupin, now smiling, "I wonder, could you tell us what sort of clothes your grandmother usually wears?"
Neville looked startled, but said, "Well... always the same hat. A tall one with a stuffed vulture on top. And a long dress... green, normally... and sometimes a fox-fur scarf."
Vincent, seeing where this was going, felt his face going pale, "Oh, he's not actually going to..."
"When the Boggart bursts out of this wardrobe, Neville, and sees you, it will a.s.sume the form of Professor Snape," said Lupin, "and you will raise your wand — thus — and cry 'Riddikulus'—and concentrate hard on your grandmother's clothes. If all goes well, Professor Boggart Snape will be forced into that vulture-topped hat, and that green dress, with that big red handbag."
"..." Vincent felt his face go blank while everyone else laughed.
"If Neville is successful, the Boggart is likely to s.h.i.+ft his attention to each of us in turn," said Professor Lupin, "I would like all of you to take a moment now to think of the thing that scares you most, and imagine how you might force it to look comical..."
Everyone looked thoughtful as they thought of their worse fears. Vincent took a look at Harry in particular.
"If Harry were to go up, would it summon Voldermort?" Vincent thought as Harry's face went through a torrent of emotions, "What reaction would that cause?"
"Take it's legs off," Vincent heard Ron's trembling voice and smiled wryly.
"Ok, everyone ready?" Lupin asked, "Good, well Neville, we'll all step back to give you room, everyone, back up, I'll call the next person forward when ready."
They all retreated, backed against the walls, leaving Neville alone beside the wardrobe. He looked pale and frightened, but he had pushed up the sleeves of his robes and was holding his wand ready.
"On the count of three, Neville," said Professor Lupin, who was pointing his own wand at the handle of the wardrobe, "One — two — three —now!"
A jet of sparks shot from the end of Professor Lupin's wand and hit the doork.n.o.b. The wardrobe burst open. Hook-nosed and menacing, Professor Snape stepped out, his eyes flas.h.i.+ng at Neville.
Neville backed away, his wand up, mouthing wordlessly. Snape was bearing down upon him, reaching inside his robes.
"R—r—riddikulus!" squeaked Neville.
There was a noise like a whip crack. Snape stumbled; he was wearing a long, lace-trimmed dress and a towering hat topped with a moth-eaten vulture, and he was swinging a huge crimson handbag.
"...That sight's burned into my head now," muttered Vincent while everyone around erupted into laughter, "every time I see the professor now, ugh."
Pavati was called up and Neville came back to the rest of the cla.s.s with a relieved smile on his face.
"Aren't you going to join?" Arnya asked curiously as Pavati dealt with a bloodstained mummy, making it trip. Seamus was then called up next.
"No magic remember," Vincent said with his hands spread while Arnya let out an 'oh' sound.
"And besides," Vincent's voice went a bit quieter, "wanting to see your fear isn't exactly normal."
Arnya observed Vincent's expression before turning back to the rest of the lesson, just in time to see Ron's spider loose it's legs and roll around to Harry's feet.
Harry held his wand at the ready, looking unsure of himself, before Lupin rushed in front of him.
"Here!" shouted Professor Lupin suddenly, hurrying forward. Crack!
The legless spider had vanished. For a second, everyone looked wildly around to see where it was. Then they saw a silvery-white orb hanging in the air in front of Lupin, who said, "Riddikulus!" almost lazily.
Crack!
"Forward, Neville, and finish him off!" said Lupin as the Boggart landed on the floor as a
c.o.c.kroach. Crack! Snape was back. This time Neville charged forward looking determined.
"Riddikulus!" he shouted, and they had a split second's view of Snape in his lacy dress before Neville let out a great "Ha!" of laughter, and the Boggart exploded, burst into a thousand tiny wisps of smoke, and was gone.
"A white orb?" Vincent muttered. "Kind of an odd thing to be afraid of. Arnya?"
Arnya had stiffened slightly when the white orb came up, her gaze towards Lupin felt complicated to some degree.
"It's nothing," Arnya said as the dangerous aura faded somewhat around her.
"Excellent!" cried Professor Lupin as the cla.s.s broke into applause. "Excellent, Neville. Well done, everyone... Let me see... five points to Gryffindor for every person to tackle the Boggart — ten for Neville because he did it twice... and five each to Vincent and Harry."
"But I didn't do anything," said Harry.
"You and Vincent answered my questions correctly at the start of the cla.s.s, Harry," Lupin said lightly, "Very well, everyone, an excellent lesson. Homework, kindly read the chapter on Boggarts and summarize it for me... o be handed in on Monday. That will be all."
Talking excitedly, the cla.s.s left the staffroom. Harry, however, did not look very happy.
"What's up?" Vincent asked.
"I, just don't get it," Harry muttered rather depressingly. "Did Lupin think I wasn't up for the challenge? Did he think I would faint like on the train?"
"I think he just didn't want Voldemort popping up in the middle of cla.s.s," Vincent said, making Ron jumped in fright from the mention of the name. "Not exactly a pleasant way to end the cla.s.s."
"True," Harry agreed half-heartedly, "but, I was thinking about Dementor."
"Considering what you've been through, fair enough," Vincent agreed.
"That was the best Defense Against the Dark Arts lesson we've ever had, wasn't it?" said Ron excitedly as they made their way back to the cla.s.sroom to get their bags.
"He seems like a very good teacher," said Hermione approvingly. "But I wish I could have had a turn with the Boggart —"
"Or answer a question," Ron sn.i.g.g.e.red. "A whole cla.s.s without you answering a singe one, miracles do happen."
"Oh shut up!"
That night, Vincent took a look at the gems he received from the Walking Willows. He had a thoughtful look on his face before taking a piece of parchment out and writing a letter on it. He placed the green cracked gem in a letter and sealed it along with the parchment.
"Harry, can I borrow Hedwig?" Vincent whispered to Harry who replied groggily.
"Sure," Harry groaned, "what for?"
"Just want to send a letter," Vincent said as he walked over to Hedwig. He then attached the letter to its leg with the owl giving a hoot.
"Take care," Vincent gave her a pat on the head before letting her out the window.
He was about to back to his bed before he noticed something strange outside. He noticed Crookshanks walking out on the school grounds and frowned.
"What's it doing?" He thought as it disappeared into the darkness, out his view.
Vincent could only scratch his head as he entered the bed, "Maybe Hermione would know?"
He pulled up the covers and fell asleep almost instantly.
