"….. XioJie… Da XiaoJie[1]'s marriage sedan has arrived… Will XiaoJie not send Da XiaoJie off?"
LuLu asked as went closer to XuanFei who was sitting at the outer room, fixing the blanket on XuanFei's legs.
Hearing LuLu's question, XuanFei glared at her.
"Are you stupid? Why would I go and send that b.i.t.c.h off?" Since LuLu was the only one present, XuanFei discarded any pretense, not addressing XuanRong as her eldest sister.
"P-Please forgive this servant for asking.."
Thinking deeply, XuanFei nodded. "But, you are correct. Being married into the imperial family is a great honor for her even if her husband is a foolish man. An uneducated person like her who grew up in the mountains, even if she knows a skill or two, it won't change the fact that she is nothing but an uncultured b.i.t.c.h."
XuanFei raised her hand and placed it on her abdomen, slowly caressing it.
LuLu, who was standing beside her, inwardly shook her head when she saw her XiaoJie's action. Being XuanFei's personal maidservant, she roughly understood what happened during the Emperor's birthday banquet. Although Furen and Laoye did not call for a physician to look for her XiaoJie's condition in order to avoid gossip but based on their grim facial expression and her XiaoJie's weak state when they returned the next day, she knew that her XiaoJie had miscarried the baby, revealing her pregnancy.
Looking at XuanFei's face that was full of tenderness as she subconsciously stroked her flat abdomen, LuLu could not help but feel pity.
Sensing's LuLu's gaze, XuanFei turned her head and saw the pity in her eyes. A huge wave of anger emerged inside XuanFei's heart. What she hated the most was being pitied by those people around her. Ever since young, even after XuanRong was sent away and she occupied the t.i.tle of Di daughter, she still could not escape the shadow of the past that had been binding her and her mother. She could still hear other people speaking behind their back, calling her mother a vixen for seducing XuanLi and for claiming the position of the Legal Wife. Both her and her mother worked so hard to bury the dark past, even trying to please XuanRong in every way, showering her their 'love'. Unfortunately, some people would still call them shameless while others would look at her with pity in their eyes, saying that it was too bad for a talented girl like her to be the daughter of the second wife. Although her mother rose from being a concubine to be the Mistress of the Residence, Xuan Furen, and her for being the daughter of the concubine to be a legitimate young miss of the Fu, she could erase the past.
Why was that stupid servant looking at her like that? Did she pity her because she was a pheasant wanting to become a phoenix? Or was it because that stupid servant thought that her child had died?
Died?
No!
Her child was still alive!
Alive inside of her!
She knew!
She could feel it!
'Why would she pity me?! My child is not dead!!'
"Why are you looking at me with those eyes?! Do you not want your eyes anymore?!"
XuanFei screamed and threw the tea cup that was on the table.
*thud!* *clank!*
The tea cup hit LuLu's shoulder and feel on the ground, braking it into pieces.
Sensing XuanFei's anger, LuLu's countenance paled. She immediately kneeled and kowtowed in front of XuanFei, asking forgiveness.
"Please XiaoJie!! Have mercy!! Have mercy to this servant!!"
XuanFei glared at LuLu. She wanted to punish LuLu like what she usually did with the other servants but remembering that she could not trust the personal maidservants her mother gave her, XuanFei had to hold back her anger.
She still needs LuLu to do her bidding. Without LuLu, she would have a great difficulty moving behind her mother's back.
"Enough! I will not give you another change. Bear in mind that I can make you suffer without lifting a hand. You dare show that kind of look again and see if you can leave this room alive."
"Y-Yes! Yes, t-this servant understands!! This servant thanks XiaoJie for her mercy."
XuanFei waved her hand and spoke.
"Since everyone in the prime minister's residence is busy with that s.l.u.t's marriage, no one would pay attention to you. Go and call the physician you found outside the residence. Bring him here and let him check my pulse. If something wrong happens, I will cripple you and send you to the lowest brothel so that those sc.u.ms will paly with you, do you understand?"
LuLu s.h.i.+vered when she heard XuanFei's warning.
"Y-yes, y-yes, XiaoJie. This servant will not f-fail you."
"Mmm… and bring another maid that you thrust. She will help you in dealing those menial things."
"T-then, I-I will send J-Ji Xue here, XiaoJie."
----------
"The auspicious hour is here! Start the procession!!" The matchmaker who was paid by Xu Qinw.a.n.g's people announced the start of the procession.
XuanRong felt the sedan moved forward. Under the red muslin, her eyes could not help but look outside, trying to find the shadow of the person she had been waiting for a long time. Unbeknown to her, the person she had been waiting for was currently riding a white horse, leading the wedding procession towards his own palace.
While XuanRong was feeling sad deep inside her heart for being unable to see her benefactor one last time, that person was smiling ear to ear, making those who knew his other ident.i.ty question their three views in life, asking if the sun had set in the east.
