The soldiers with him also fired in all directions, all with incredibly efficient silencers. They just spent thirty seconds to eliminate everyone without letting them retaliate once.
"We don't have time to lose now. To gain as much time as possible, a group of ten will stay here and scan the pagers and secure our way out. Is that good for you?" Haze suggested to the other squad leaders and he received an affirmative response.
The biggest squad left ten members and the rest went to the big hoist load and immediately controlled the commands. Jin looked at his computer while they were slowly descending. A few minutes later, when they were about to arrive at the floor below, Jin's eyes narrowed as he blocked the command of the hoist.
"Wait, if we go lower, we will be detected in a second by actual cameras and both the guys and IAs looking through them will sound the alarm" He said as he looked through the screen of his computer and pointed at the wall on his left.
"…Arima, break this. We have no choice" He hesitated a bit but still asked. Arima raised an eyebrow before putting down his rifle case. He breathed in and started hopping in place. The other soldiers were quite confused at what he was going to do. What did he mean by break it?
Arima then suddenly put his weight on his left leg and span before giving a clean kick to the wall. The result was a broken wall in which Arima's foot became buried. Arima pulled out his foot and then used his hands to enlarge the hole.
Everyone looked at him with shocked eyes. They were not stupid enough to think that something like that could be explained by some talent in martial arts. Even Moria and the rest of Arima's squad were shocked to see that performance.
Jin nodded and didn't even comment as he inserted his arm in the broken wall and grabbed some cables set there. He first cut the sheath and then pulled out the conductors which he tinkered with a bit before connecting it to his computer.
The people on the hoist understood that Arima and Jin, and also Tieria, had no intention of talking about what happened and immediately discarded the idea of asking. It wasn't time to lose trust in their comrades.
"Here's the deal" Jin raised his voice "I'll cause a blackout and we'll have to finish this job before everything comes back. With this connection, I can only provoke a short circuit that will disrupt the main system for a moment and then make it reinitialize. That's the best plan I have" He declared and the captains here looked at each other.
"Fine, do it Jin" Moria said and Jin cracked his fingers before pressing on the key. Just after, everything lost any supply and the lights went off "Cut the cables of the hoist" Moria said and four people used a laser to cut the cables attached to the hoist.
After they did that, the platform instantly fell down and crashed on the floor below. Everyone just felt a bit shook but quickly focused. They forcefully opened the steel door just in front of them and ended up inside of a s.p.a.cious hangar, filled with Eion storages.
Moria nodded to his subordinate and the latter went around the place to set the G-Mines, like the ones they had placed above.
"We'll separate. Go put all the mines and connect their signals together" Haze said and went to a certain direction with his squad. And the other one followed suit.
"We'll go this way then" Moria said and started running to a certain section of the hangar. At that point already, all of the personnel of the installation were alerted and everyone was preparing to fight against the intruders. But the first problem was, of course, the blackout and the forced reinitialization of the mainframe.
They were completely in the dark and couldn't locate the squads attacking them but Russia and China were warned of the incident in the minute following the incident.
Each group met some guards running toward the hangar. Arima's group met a few tens of guards and engaged in a battle. They all went behind covers and then retaliated "Do you know where is the main computer?" Arima asked Jin as he fired back, never missing a shot.
"I'm not sure. Form the triangulation I made from the cameras' signal. It's around there" Jin frowned and pointed into a direction.
"I see" Arima muttered and slipped his hand inside his coat. He grabbed one knife and pressed the b.u.t.ton. He left his cover and shot once at the man who was going to shoot him and then threw the knife which planted on the ground in the middle of everyone and exploded. The magnitude of the explosion was as strong as a normal Eion grenade and it was quite powerful.
Moria waved his hand to everyone and they advanced to finish the last resistance. They then continued onwards and had quite a hard time as they searched around the place. After some time, they found another big room and finally spotted the core of this place.
Arima used another knife to break open the door of the control room and Jin directly went to the supercomputer in the middle and started working on it. The electricity was about to come back and he was prepared to create a backdoor on the system as it reinitialized.
Jin worked hard as the squad covered him and fought with the endless wave of men "…I got it!" Jin shouted and the light came back in the facility "Sir, aerial defenses are down. But the AI sent an urgent message to the two concerned countries just before the blackout"
Moria nodded and used his phone satellite "1K9F55AZ, Airstrike at the current position. Come with unregistered planes and destroy this island. Do it in 20 minutes" He called the air strike and everyone immediately left the control room and went toward the exit.
But as they were leaving, a rocket suddenly was fired at them. Arima's eyes narrowed and he moved as fast as he could. He aimed his pistol at the rocket and fired. The explosion was still too close as some members of the squad were blown away.
When they stood up, the saw what attacked them. Arima clicked his tongue and quickly equipped his rifle. He stared at the giant robot in front of them which was barely fitting between the walls.
When the robot began to fire with a heavy machine gun, the squad members could only take cover and flee. But unfortunately, some of them failed to escape on time and were instantly taken down by the bullets.
It was the first time Arima ever witnessed one of his comrades die in a mission. He gritted his teeth and fired with his sniper at the robot but Arima couldn't expect that that thing would actually dodge like a trained human. For a machine, its dexterity and agility were impressive.
When the robot was about to shoot again, Arima acted first and he threw two more knives after pressing the b.u.t.tons. The two knives. .h.i.t the ground at the robot's feet and exploded.
The explosion raised a lot of dust and the roof cracked and threatened to collapse. Even before the cloud of dust had dispersed, Arima's eyes narrowed "Take cover now!" He shouted.
The robot's shoulders opened and transformed into rocket launchers. The launchers fired multiple rockets that flew toward Arima's squad through the dust. The soldiers had heard Arima's shout and had already started to get into cover but they were still in the effective area of the explosion as a big number of them died in the attack.
Arima could only watch powerlessly, and then his eyes fell upon Tiria who was helping one of her companions. Behind her, one of the guards suddenly appeared and pointed his gun at her. Time slowed down for Arima, he tried his best to move and shoot but he knew he wouldn't make it in time "Tiria, behind you!" He could only shout.
Tiria heard his voice and raised her head. She wasn't able to react as she was shot from behind, directly in the heart. She fell on her knees and swallowed back the blood coming up her throat. She then used the last bit of her force to point her gun behind and shoot at the guy in the head.
"Sis!" Tieria screamed and rushed to her. Arima also went there and arrived first as he held Tiria in his arms. He checked her injury as and felt like going made when he noticed he pa.s.sed through her heart.
Tiria coughed some blood and looked at Tieria who arrived beside her and was on the verge of crying "It's okay…it's the job's risks" She weakly said and turned toward Arima before beaming "Take care of her for me" Arima could only clench his fists and nod.
"Bye, sis…" Tiria said to Tieria one last time before closing her eyes, forever. Tieria broke into tears and Arima could only watch. The rest of the squad also joined them and covered themselves as the robot was in a charging phase.
Jin smoked a cigar with a dark face and sat against a wall. Even Moria wasn't quite good as a lot of his men had died just now.
Arima stood up with the wall covering them before he crushed it with one fist "Lomen, give me the G-Mines' detonator" He demanded and took the case containing the G-Mines and the detonator.
"What do you think you're doing?" Erin frowned and asked.
"Just go ahead. I just want to destroy this thing" Arima said and grabbed his rifle before jumping across the wall. No one could stop him as he was already sprinting toward the robot. He shouldered his rifle and grabbed two of his knives that he threw at the thing's head.
The explosion pushed back the robot and blinded him for a second but it wasn't enough. Arima profited of that small opening to change the bullets of his rifle into Eion bullets. He then fired at the machine's neck which seemed to be the weaker part.
The bullet exploded and a small crack appeared on the robot's metal skin. Arima tried to approach more but the robot oddly bent his body and kicked Arima who then flew and crashed into the ruins of the facility.
Tieria looked at that scene and stood up. She then went to Arima with great determination "Hey!" Jin exclaimed and Moria put his hand on his shoulder to stop him.
"We need to go. If he wants to die, he will. But I don't think that's the case" Moria said and turned around and rushed to the exit along with the rest of the rest of the squad.
Garo and Farro were about to pick up Tiria's body but it was Jin's turn to stop them. He then clicked his tongue and looked at Arima who was standing up in the debris, his face full of blood, and Tieria who just arrived beside him "Hey, Arima!" He shouted and got his attention "The EFBs are on the floor below, that could help you" He said and then left.
Arima snickered and glanced at Tieria. He wordlessly gave her three Eion knives and they nodded to each other. Arima breathed in and fired with his rifle, the robot suffered one more hit and then restarted firing with physical bullets.
Arima kicked the ground in response and moved in parallel with the robot as he switched from a cover to another. He caught the robot's attention like that and thanks to his physical const.i.tution, he could last like that for a long time.
At some point, when the robot stopped firing, Arima decided to charge to the machine. The robot seemed to have planned this as he revealed two more launchers. But unfortunately for him, Arima was prepared and exploded the two launchers using his knives.
Arima looked around quickly and made a slight turn. He grabbed a chain lying on the floor while running and trapped the robot's neck with it. Arima pushed on it as much as he could and managed to pin him down a little and also make his neck bend.
It was enough for Tieria to arrive from behind and insert the three knives in a gap on the robot's neck. The three knives exploded inside the metal sh.e.l.l and the metal robot's head completely exploded.
Arima sighed when the metal figure fell on the ground and sat down. Tieria also slowly came to him and sat down back to back with him while the robot exploded one more time in the background.
