Life Hunter 33 ''Clean''

"The frontier is kind of a war zone if I'm not wrong, and I'm quite curious" Arima said.

"Well, yes"

The frontiers that separate the territories on this continent is in reality a huge war zone. It became like that because of the continuous fights between the different races.

"But why do you want to go there exactly?" Lanya was perplexed

"For now, I just want to see what kind of battlefield it is" Arima said "Let's go, it'll be quick anyway" His eyes glowed and a magic circle formed on the ground, in an instant, the trio disappeared.

In the beast continent, a ma.s.sive land dragon was looking down from the edge of a cliff. Down there, he saw a faint red light glowing.

"What should I do? I can't stop this with my strength" The dragon mumbled and then he thought of something "That person who released that intent and also the pillar which destroyed that meteor. I don't know what kind of person it is but if I can get his help then it's not impossible to resolve this problem" He said

"I'll ask that old geezer if he can find him" he turned around and left the place to enter the forest.

Arima teleported directly above his destination around a kilometer in the sky. When they arrived, Lanya yelped in surprise because she didn't expect to suddenly appear in the sky.

Arima casually grabbed her hand and made her float with magic "Hurry up and deploy your wings I won't carry you every time" He said

"Y-yes" Lanya returned to her senses and deployed her silver sings, she regained her mobility and thanked Arima.

The latter looked at the ground below. The place was filled with death aura and mana.

"That's interesting" Arima said but his expression didn't look happy or excited at all

"What is?" Lanya asked

"Look there" Arima pointed down with his chin and said. Lanya and Night followed his sight and looked down. They saw a group of strange creatures, they were red in color, they didn't have any eyes, they just had a giant mouth, some of them even had multiple mouths. They were eating the flesh of dead people.

"That's… unsettling" Lanya said "What is that? I never saw or heard about something like that" She turned towards Arima

"If I'm not wrong, it should be something like an 'error' creature" Arima answered

"Error?" Night was perturbed by the word Arima just uttered. He always thought that Arima didn't care about what or who he would have in front of him but now he just called something an 'error'.

"Yeah, that's my thoughts. These things are something that are born because of this place, it's also things that can hardly be called life forms" He said "For example, those red ones are maybe born from blood of the dead, the killing intent, the mana and the death aura spreading around in this place. Basically, they're just a result of hate and death, that's even worse than undead" He explained "I'm sure there are more things like that all around the place, and of different kinds maybe"

"So, what do you want to do?" Night asked

"Clean" Arima said with a grin

"Clean? That's a questionable answer, what do you mean by that?" Night asked

"Simple" Arima extended his hand and faced his palm to the ground "[Una gutta satis est] (One drop is enough)" He chanted and a transparent drop condensed in his palm

"[Ecce Panis exitium] (Bead of destruction)" The drop fell from his hands and fell down until it splashed on the ground. Where the drop fell, some changes could be observed, the earth moved a bit and big gla.s.s-like flower bloomed.

"What is that flower?" Lanya asked

"You'll know soon enough" Arima answered and teleported the group away and reappeared a thousand kilometers away, still in the 'war zone'. He used the same magic, and a gla.s.s flower bloomed.

After that, he repeated the same process around twenty times. No matter if it was between the human territory and the monster territory or maybe between the beast or human's territories, he went to all of the warzone separating each part of the country.

"…Hey, what the h.e.l.l are you doing?" Night asked with a complaining tone. Arima kept teleporting him and Lanya each minute and now he had a headache.

"It's okay, that's the last one" Arima said as he dropped the last bead "Now, we need to back away to enjoy the spectacle" Arima said

"Spectacle?" Lanya tilted her head

Arima wore a smug smile and teleported the three of them one more time. They were now inside the human country but a few kilometers above the ground.

"Stop with the teleportation already!" Night snapped

"I said it's the last one" Arima said "Well, to go back, maybe we'll need to use it"

"Flying down is good" Lanya said immediately and Night nodded

"Okay, fine" Arima shrugged "Now, fireworks time" He smirked and snapped his fingers

At that instant, each flower Arima created in the war zone began to glow and each one of them produced a semi-transparent pillar that raised to the sky for at least a kilometre.

The flowers released an aura into the whole war zone, that aura wasn't really powerful but it possessed a strong destructive intent and also carried a spiritual message.

"A spiritual message? What is it?" Night asked after he heard it from Arima

Arima grinned "Flee" He said

Apparently, the warning worked, and most of the people in the frontier began to run away to their own territory while looking at the twenty or so pillars in wonder and cautiousness.

Ten minutes later, Arima nodded "Good, if there's still people in the way, it's their own problem" He said and his eyes glowed along with the faint pattern in his pupils.

The twenty-two flowers glowed and a white ray of light connected each one of them together.

"[Flos torque] (Flower chain)" Arima chanted

The first flower Arima placed exploded and the semi-transparent pillar became dark blue and its diameter went to twenty miles. After that, it was a chain reaction, each flower exploded one after another and finally, the twenty-two blue pillars moved at the same time and followed the white ray of light connecting them to each other. When the pillars finished their path, they flew to the sky and exploded in beautiful patterns.

"See, fireworks" Arima said after breathing out because of a slight exhaustion and smiled

Night and Lanya were looking at the sky gaping in either shock, surprise or confusion, even Arima wasn't sure about it.

"What the heck are you doing?!" Night snapped first and shouted

"..." Lanya was s.p.a.cing out

"Calm down, I just created an effective frontier that's all" Arima said calmly

"An effective frontier?" Night repeated and looked at the war zone and widened his eyes

In the middle of it, there was a twenty miles wide creva.s.se.

"Seriously?" Lanya uttered after looking too

"Why did you do that?" Night asked Arima

"Like I said, to clean, and also to stop temporarily their little strife"

"'Little strife' he said" Night mumbled and looked at Arima with dubious eyes "That's all? You said you didn't want to meddle in their war, why did you stop it?" He asked

"Mh, that's saddening that you won't believe me" Arima said in an exaggerated manner "But I profited of the occasion to take this" Arima said and a blue sphere appeared above his hand, it seemed there was something inside.

Night frowned "What's this?"

"Life force, the one that comes from every person who didn't listen to the warning and died because of it, well, there's also the life force of those strange creatures" Arima said casually

"I knew it" Night just said and fell silent

"Well, I can't use it now because I still need to stabilize the one I got from Koden, I'll keep that for later" Arima said and the sphere above his hand vanished "Let's go, the Republic is next on line. I'll tele-"

"We'll fly back" Night interrupted him

"But it's fast-"

"We'll fly back" Arima was going to say something but he was one more time interrupted, by Lanya this time.

Arima was speechless and gave in, he transformed in a black light that flew to the ground. Night and Lanya looked at each other and laughed before following him.

They flew together to the closest city, when they landed they realised it was one of main cities, the beast-men capital.

"Well, let's visit this place before going to the spirit realm" Arima said and walked towards the gate

A wolf-man soldier welcomed him "h.e.l.lo, your papers please, if you don't have any you'll need to come with me to get an ident.i.ty" He said nicely

"Here for me, and this one is for the wolf there" Arima handed two cards and said

The soldier took the cards and became surprised by Arima's rank "You're an S rank?" He asked

"Yes" Arima smiled "It's on that card after all" He said

"Kind Demon…" The soldier mumbled and Arima's face twitched. The wolf-men gave him the cards "What about this lady?" He said and looked at Lanya, he blushed a little, Lanya was beautiful so it was normal, someone like Arima who would just blink once when looking at her was really rare.

"Here" Lanya took out a card from her storage and gave it to the soldier, the latter looked at it and nodded "Thank you" he said and returned the card.

What Lanya just gave him is a card which she had when she was younger, her rank was set at the B rank.

The trio pa.s.sed the gate and entered the city. Inside the city, surrounded by the pa.s.sers, Arima clapped his hands "Alright, I'll look for a good sweet store, you can go wherever you want. Take that" Arima said, he gave a purse of money to Lanya and left leaving her alone with Night.

Lanya looked at Arima until she lost sight of him and turned towards Night "What do we do Master?"

Night sighed "Let's just visit randomly" He said and walked in another direction "Me and Arima are able to sense each other anyway, we can reunite at any moment if we want"

"Yes" Lanya smiled and followed Night. The latter looked around and observed the citizens "Even though that's a beast-men city there's still a lot people from other races, huh?" He commented

"Hey, Lanya…?" Night called Lanya and turned around but she was nowhere to be seen, he looked for her for a few seconds and saw her enter a clothes shop "…Why do I feel extremely uncomfortable right now?" He said after spotting her trying some clothes.
