Life Hunter 38 ''If We're Lucky''

Arima slowly raised his head to look up, the 'thing' in front of him became clearer and clearer in his mind, until he thought of something that matched perfectly the figure in front of him.

When he finished raising his head, he saw a pair of green eyes looking at him from above. Arima forgot to react, not that he was scared or surprised but he seemed to be in daze.

"Mh, what's wrong? This is the first time a human has this kind of reaction in front of me" A strong voice resounded

"No, just" Arima began to talk "It was unexpected" He said

"Unexpected?" The voice was confused

Arima nodded "Yeah, in my homeland, your kind is extinct, I only saw your image in books" He smiled "That's why, it took me off guard" He said

"Extinct? Me?" The head of the figure moved and asked.

Strong hind legs on which he stands, small front claws, a long neck with a threatening head at the end of it.

"Tyrannosaurus Rex, that's your name from where I come from" Arima said

"Tyrannosaurus Rex? What a strange name" The T-Rex shook his head

"It's also called T-Rex, basically, the important thing in the name is 'Rex' which means 'King' in another language" Arima explained

"Oh, I quite like the name, I'll take it if you don't mind" The dinosaur began to laugh and his mood made a 180° turn.

"Hey, stop blabbing already. Seriously, why did you need to lock yourself in there to find him?" Another voice was heard and the dark place suddenly trembled and a ray light illuminated the area.

Arima looked behind him, he saw the wall sliding. It was actually a land dragon that was grabbing a huge boulder that blocked the entrance of this place, which was a cave.

An imposing land dragon put his head inside the cave "Let's go, the old geezer told you why you're here, right?" The dragon said while looking at Arima

"Oh, right" The T-Rex forgot about the main reason he called Arima. He stood up and left the cave. Arima followed him.

"By the way, how did you find me?" The latter asked in curiosity

"That old geezer doesn't have that much of a fighting strength, but his ability with magic control is something out of this world. He can find anyone on this continent without him being detected" The land dragon said while pointing to the T-Rex following them

"That's impressive" Arima honestly said "Even I almost failed to realize that you detected me"

"Eh?"

"What?"

The T-Rex froze on spot and the dragon looked in surprise at Arima

"Seriously?" The T-Rex looked at Arima and asked

"Yeah, before you started a telepathic link with me, I sensed your spirit scanning me" Arima said casually

The dinosaur laughed bitterly and the dragon laughed cheerfully for some reason "See that, old geezer? A human beat you in your own domain that you took thousands of years to master!"

"Shut up!" The T-Rex snapped and shouted

"I just felt it, anyway. I don't think I would be able to do the same as he did, scanning the continent and find me without anyone noticing" Arima said

This time, it was the dinosaur's turn to laugh and the dragon to fall silent "That's true, totally true" He kept nodding

"Can you stop now, though? Your personalities are kinda 'heavy' and it annoys me" Arima suddenly said and the two beasts instantly closed their mouth.

After a few minutes they arrived on the top of a mountain and stopped in front of a ma.s.sive creva.s.se.

"So that's the volcano you were talking about?" Arima said after looking down in the creva.s.se

"What is a volcano?" The dragon tilted his head and asked

"That's how you call this type of natural formation" Arima said shortly. He sat down and closed his eyes "[Index mundo] (World Index)" Arima chanted and scanned then entire mountain and concentrated on the underground.

"What are you doing?" The T-Rex was surprised by the sudden wave of spirit

Arima opened his eyes and stood up "Just a scan to see the magnitude of the volcano's threat" He said

"The results?" The dragon inquired

"Bad" Arima said "The magma chamber is too big, we're lucky that one side of this mountain is touching the water, but" Arima looked left and right "If the lava comes out of this entire creva.s.se then this continent could be at least half destroyed"

"You're serious? I thought that it could only threaten our territory" The dragon said in shock

"Yeah, and what's scary is that the magma is unusually dense and hot. Or maybe it's just something that is different in this world" Arima mumbled the last part

"Do you have a way to stop it?" The T-Rex asked

"Well" Arima scratched his head "We could try to reduce the pression in the magma or move the tectonic plates one way or another to avoid the eruption" He said "We can't freeze the magma, I think it will just build up the pression and accelerate the eruption, not that I know what would happen exactly, it's not like I ever tried to freeze a magma chamber" Arima explained

The dragon and the dinosaur were already lost at what he was explaining, they couldn't understand what he was talking about.

"So, we can stop it, right?" The land dragon directly asked Arima

"Yeah" Arima smiled and said "If we're lucky"

"…Lucky?" The two beasts looked at each other

"Anyway, let's try it, I think we have around five days before this thing erupt, we should be able to stop it in time" Arima said and created a connection to another dimension, the three vanished from the place to reappear in the other dimension.

"That's…a dimensional link! How can you do that so easily!? And alone!" The T-Rex shouted. He seemed to have a better understanding of the dimension than the lich.

"Don't mind about that" Arima said and flew in the air to observe the volcano form above "Anything we do to the volcano here won't affect the original one, so we can experiment all we want" Arima pointed at the land dragon "You'll have to help me a bit" Arima said and smirked

Back in the spirit realm, at the moment Arima left

Night sighed "Like Arima said, it's simple" And began his explanation in Arima's stead "You just need to call that prince here by saying something like 'I want to talk with you about the engagement' or something. When he comes here, I'll just need to either brainwash him and tell him to confess his crimes to be punished by his country or to use a weaker version of the 'Penance stare' to make him regret everything he did and the problem is solved. And if he kills himself after that, I'm sure it would the best scenario Arima thought of" Night lazily explained

The room fell into silence for the third time.

"Sorry, but that's a bit unlikely" Vinia broke the silence "That prince is always accompanied by his most trusted guard, a woman at the ninth level" She shook her head and said "We can't use your plan if we have to fight her, we would be directly spotted and the prince would be able to flee while being protected"

"That's okay" Night responded "Although is isn't as good as him, Arima taught me how to create a dimensional link, I can hold it for around three hours" He said

"A dimensional link?" Vinia was confused

"That's one of Arima's magics, he can create a parallel dimension and fight in it without damaging the surroundings" Lanya explained

"It sounds… really handy" Vinia said with a strange expression

"When I send the prince and her guard in the dimension, I just need to beat the latter and take care of the former after that" Night said

"But what if master can't beat her?" Lanya asked

"Well, in that case, let's say that Arima left me an insurance" Night said and glanced at Lilis. The latter smiled and made a V sign with her hand

"I you need my help, say it" She said

"Then it's decided. You can call him now" Night said and yawned before closing his eyes

"Mh, what should I do? I feel like something really important has been decided really leisurely" Vinia said with a complex expression and looked at Lanya who just shrugged and smiled to her "Fine, I'll send a message to him" The fairy sighed and said before leaving the room.

Back at the beast territory, above the mountain, six hours later.

Arima and the dragon ware resting. They tried all kinds of different methods to stop the eruption, but each time, the volcano would either erupt directly or the magma would start to raise faster. In conclusion, Arima had to destroy and recreate a dimensional link at least thirty times.

"d.a.m.n, we'll never stop it we continue like that" The dragon complained

"Yeah, no matter what we try, we just aggravate things" The T-Rex also was tired because he was the one that kept checking the state of the volcano each time Arima and the dragon changed something.

Arima sighed "To be honest, I'm starting to run out of ideas" He said

The three stopped talking and began to ponder on a solution

"I have one last solution" Arima suddenly said

The two beasts raised their heads and looked at him

"My idea is to destroy completely the volcano along with the magma" Arima said "But I would need Night's help and it would destroy more than half of the beast territory"

"Then forget about that, I can't let you destroy our territory" The dragon shook his head "If something like that was a viable solution I would've already tried"

Aria shrugged then a thought struck him "Wait, you two, do you have some Dravinite?" He asked

"Dravinite?" The T-Rex was shocked "Yeah, we have some, the beasts are the best to refine metal and minerals after all. But what would you do with that valuable metal? We don't have much of it" He asked

A silver light appeared above Arima's hand "I'll try to absorb the magma instead of destroying it" He said "That metal will help me a lot for that, and I'll also be able to reforge Karma at the same time" He smirked and explained.
