Through the floor to roof gla.s.s pane windows that lined the penthouse walls, lights from the city below flickered like torches. A man with white hair swirled the smooth red wine in a slow, circular motion, holding the gla.s.s by the rim with his four fingers and thumb. Watching out over the city as he pondered his own thoughts. His white hair hung unkempt past his shoulders and over his perfectly pressed suit. The dark interior of the penthouse lounge room lit only by the lights of the city below reflecting off the windows, and the roaring fireplace in the center of the room.
A frown made its way onto the face of a man with white hair. He took a big swig of wine from the gla.s.s in his hands, gulping down the liquid that violently flowed into his mouth. Once the liquid in his gla.s.s had run dry he threw it across the room, the gla.s.s smas.h.i.+ng on the exposed brick walls.
The clicking sound of high heels echoed thought the loungeroom as a woman with brushed back brunette hair and prescription gla.s.ses walked through the room. Stepping over the broken gla.s.s and pus.h.i.+ng further into the room, she stopped her stride standing a shoulder-length apart, face to face with the man who had white hair.
"Something has gone wrong?" she asked with a knowing of monotone.
"Time pitter-pattered backward tonight," said the man with white hair, "Seven times."
Though the room was warm with the heat of the roaring flame, a cold atmosphere rose around the two who stood face to face with their eyes looking away from each other.
"It's only 2008," said the woman with brunet hair as she used her middle and index finger pus.h.i.+ng her gla.s.ses back in close to her face.
"That means, that means it's true," said the man with white hair, "We can safely conclude that we currently reside within a second divergent."
"Our divergent was supposed to be safe," she said, brus.h.i.+ng back some hair that had slipped forward.
"Something must have happened within the first divergent that caused me to create this second divergent and I am more than certain that it has something to do with the time reverse that I have just experienced," said the man with the white hair, not moving his eyes away from the lights in the streets below, "The only thing that I can think of, is that our young Sean has somehow extended his influence to our divergence, which has led to the creation of a first and second divergence."

"You told me that we would be safe here," said the woman with the brunette hair, "You told me that we would be able to forge our divergent free from the actions of young Sean."
"I have fought so hard," said the man with white hair, "I've fought so long and hard to build this world that we call our own. If I created two divergent timelines, then that must mean that there is more fighting to come."
"Let's go over a few things then," she said, "Our divergent was supposed to be safe, but something happened and a first divergent was created, a divergent that we have no knowledge on, nor have we the knowledge of what has happened within our own, supposedly safe divergent. Now we are here in what we can only a.s.sume is a second divergent from ours, and young Sean has started to master his powers at a much earlier time than in any other divergent."
"Yes," said the man with white hair, "It's a safe a.s.sumption that whatever happened in either our divergent or the first divergent has caused young Sean to develop his powers early within this divergent."
"If there is someone with the power to manipulate time, then we are able to safely conclude it is young Sean then?" she asked.
"There is no one else in the entire world or in any divergent that it could possibly be," said the man with white hair.
"There is one other person," she said.
"He wouldn't be here," said the man with white hair stepping away from the woman with the brunette hair and placing more wood onto the already roaring fire, "This is too far out for him. Although I wouldn't put it past him to have influenced our divergent leading us to where we are now."
"Are we not able to just travel back to our divergent?" she asked, "We can leave young Sean here. He and Alice can live out their days in this divergent while we return to our own."
"If we were to travel back now, we would be in compet.i.tion with ourselves," said the man with white hair, "First, we need to take care of young Sean, and find out what his actions have been within this divergent and then eliminate the threat. Then we need to travel to the first divergent and stop young Sean there, again, eliminating the threat. If we do that, then our divergent should return to its natural progression, and then we can focus on stopping 'him' whatever his role in this whole thing may be."
"I want us to be free!" stressed the woman with the brushed back brunette hair and gla.s.ses.
"We will be," said the man with white hair, "I've fought long and hard for us to find a place to call home, I'm not about to stop fighting now."
The man with white hair stretched out his arm towards the broken gla.s.s that was shattered across the floor. The pieces of the gla.s.s came back together without so much as a crack showing and the gla.s.s tilted upwards and flew back into his hands. Walking over to the table to pour himself another gla.s.s of wine, the man in white whispered to himself.
"There is no reason that one divergent cannot live in peace with another, coexisting without interacting with each other."
