Fang Qiao planned to take Lu to his cake shop to make hotpot, so they bought some vegetables before the supermarket closed.
While pa.s.sing by shelves, Fang asked intimately, "Do you want to buy some instant noodles to eat first, Mr. Lu?"
"No, they are full of antiseptic substance."
"Then, what about some snacks?"
"Full of color additives. No."
Fang Qiao thought, "Then you just stay hungry! So d.a.m.n delicate."
The days were short in winter, so when they walked out of the supermarket, it had got dark already. Having stood by the roadside for over twenty minutes, they still didn't catch a taxi. All taxi drivers hurried to go back home to eat the New Year's Eve dinner, so they refused Lu and Fang. What was worse, n.o.body took their order in taxi-hailing apps.
Fang Qiao had a running nose with the cold wind blowing constantly. Looking at the numerous lights in this city at the moment, Fang hummed the lyrics which went like this: a child having a family is like a treasure.
Of course, except the one beside him.
The one beside him was just a b.a.s.t.a.r.d. This b.a.s.t.a.r.d didn't allow him to bathe in hot spring on the New Year's Eve, and took him to come out of the closet somehow or other, and besides, they had to stand on the road bearing the cold wind.
Fang snuffled, and suggested, "Don't try to call a taxi any more. Let's take the subway."
"No." Lu Yanzhou responded directly.
Actually, Lu Yanzhou was also trembling with cold. The cashmere overcoat of haute couture he wore didn't resist cold at all. But he meant to maintain the last shred of his dignity. Was it proper for a boss like him to take subway with others?
Closing his eyes, Fang refrained from leaving Lu on the road alone. "Then, take the shared bikes!"
Carrying vegetables with one hand, Lu hold a ring unsteadily with the other hand. When he got on the subway just now, he was stepped by someone on his foot, leaving two clear shoe-prints.
Looking at the shoe-prints with his belly rumbling with hunger, Lu even started to regret somewhat. He shouldn't have made his father angry, or he might have been in the mansion of his family enjoying a hearty New Year's Eve dinner.
Luckily, the cake shop was not far with just three station's distance. Standing at the door, Lu looked at the shop first then the school gate behind him, and finally confirmed it was the shop where he once had come. He asked Fang who was opening the door, "How can you have the key here?"
"Look up once again, Mr. Lu. What's the name of the shop?"
"Mr. Fang's Cake Shop...So you are the boss? Well...Good, you have got a by-business."
"Yes. What if you abandon me one day? I have to support myself."
Lu Yanzhou praised, "You are wise, Mr. Fang."
Fang replied, "Thanks to the good treatment you gave me, I got the start-up capital."
Lu felt unexpected. Those starlets he kept as mistresses took his money to indulge themselves, and it was the first time for him to see someone should make use of the money to make investment.
"Mr. Fang, come on! Try to open a new one as soon as possible."
"Then how many times will I have to sleep with you!" Fang thought to himself.
There was a small kitchen in the shop where the clerks and the cake-makers usually dine. Fang found an electric pot there. Having poured some water into the pot, plugged it in, and put a bag of hotpot condiment, Fang took out the vegetables they had bought to wash while waiting for the water to boil.
Fang got busy around on his own, but he didn't notice any movement of Lu. Lu neither spoke nor came to help.
Fang criticized his behavior in the heart. Being reluctant to do anything, the boss was just too squeamish. Fang turned around only to find the boss was squeezing a bag of cream taken from the fridge into his mouth with his head upward.
Lu was obviously very hungry.
While speeding up to wash vegetables, Fang sighed. He had thought he could soak in the hot spring of the resort hotel during the Spring Festival, enjoy a ma.s.sage, and then have a fancy dinner, but finally he came back to eat hotpot which was beyond his expectation.
Seeing Fang was.h.i.+ng vegetables, Lu laughed out. He had imagined he might have to lie on the bed of a hotel alone for the night, and he also had imagined he might return home and quarrel with his families fiercely, but he hadn't imagined he could be with Fang Qiao in a cake shop, and grab a bite with some cream.
"The cream tastes well." Lu was satisfied.
Fang lifted his chest proudly, "Don't you see who made it?"
"Have you learned before?"
"After coming out of the orphanage, I learned how to make pastry. I have received professional training, and even got a certificate."
Lu got interested, "How could you have grown up in an orphanage? Where are your parents?"
"I haven't seen them till now. I have been in the orphanage since I could remember things. The staff in the orphanage said I was picked up from a trash can. I was sad at first, but when I went to primary school, and asked my cla.s.smates, all of them were told by their parents that they were found in trash cans. So I didn't feel sad any more."
"..." Putting down the cream in the hand, Lu Yanzhou got serious suddenly, "I was not picked up."
"Well, I'm just kidding! I know you were not picked up from a trash can, Mr. Lu. You were born with a gold spoon."
"I was born to my dad and his mistress."
